WHY I CHOOSE THIS BOOK What can I say? Parenting books are incredibly intriguing to me. I’ve read dozens of them and still find them to be some of the most interesting books I pick up. I find it very enlightening to see the concepts behind the why and how parents are raising their kids. (Disclaimer: I’m not married, I’m not a mom, and I’m very aware of the fact that I don’t have the whole parenting thing figured out. I’m not one of those annoying single people who think I know how to raise kids. I just like reading about how others raise their kids and figure that my reviews of these books give an interesting perspective since I’m not the intended audience.) WHAT I THOUGHT ABOUT THIS BOOK This book isn’t a book about how to raise kids. This book is about how to be a good mom. There’s a big difference between the two and I was impressed as I read this book. My dad (who’s done a fantastic job raising nine kids) has told me before that he never really liked reading parenting books written by people who’s kids were still little, because how do they know that what they are teaching really works? And that makes sense. This author’s kids are still young, but her approach isn’t about what to do with the kids, it’s about how to respond as a mom. I really liked this book. It was encouraging, uplifting, honest, and so practical. The author talks about how she, as a mom, is working on learning to change her mindset, control herself, and become more Christ-like. Although this book was about how to be a better mom, it’s applicable for pretty much anyone. It’s so easy for people to blame their reactions on other people, but this book highlighted the fact that we are responsible for how we respond to situations. The author does a fantastic job of helping the reader think through why they respond the way they do to certain things, then offers solid, Biblically-based answers for how they can change. When I read this book I was inspired by how I can change things in my life to become more Christ-like. It also made me excited about being a mom one day if I ever have kids. From my very non-experienced viewpoint, I felt like the author did the perfect job of being inspiring, encouraging, honest, funny, and hard-hitting. She doesn’t hold back from the truth, but she delivers it in a way that’s easy(ish) to accept. CONCLUSION There were only a very few things in this book that I had an issue with which isn’t common. As usual, I don’t recommend or un-recommend parenting books, but I did really like this one. RATING I’m giving The Cranky Mom Fix 4 out of 5 stars. I’m thankful for the publisher for giving me a copy so I could review it here.

I am always looking for ways to grow as a parent and a Christian. This book really caught my eye, because lately, I have felt like just the everyday stresses of life, compounded by a bit of a curve ball that hit last year has definitely turned me into a bit more of a "cranky" mom. I found this devotional to be just what a needed, offering some great advice and taking me through God's Word. Boy, Becky sure hit the nail on the head! She wrote about so many things I struggle with. She gave some really great pointers and Scripture on how to act, react, and become the Mom God wants us to be. I am still working through the individual questions and study at the end of the chapters. I did a quick read through and am going back to really do a deeper study with all the verses included. I feel like this would be a wonderful asset to many mom's out there. It would make a great personal or group study. I know I myself have been convicted while reading through this book, but I have also been encouraged that I can tame the "momster" inside and become grace filled and a kinder, gentler parent when I put these principles into practice. I would definitely recommend this book! I was blessed with a copy courtesy of Bethany House Publishers. I wasn't required to give a positive review, All opinions are my own.

Wow! This book has been working on, in, and through me! How often as Mom’s do we get cranky just because things don’t go our way of because our kids don’t do something the same way we would!? Becky share about ridding our homes of the “Momster” and how to fix our cranky! “The Cranky Mom Fix” has helped me to be more aware of my ‘triggers’ and what makes me cranky. Also, I’ve been reminded that I am responsible for me and I cannot blame my kids for my attitude, I need to be the example! Becky works the reader through having a more peaceful home by implementing practical tips and applying God’s Word into our everyday! I love the “Let’s Dig In” parts at the end of each chapter that helped me to see more what God says! This book is really changed my heart and is making a difference in my home and family! I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book is a must read for any mom. It spoke to me and was a great reminder that no mom is perfect but we can all do better. "Kids are not people to be tamed but nurtured" this quote summarizes the nature of the book. Kopitzke shows how easy it is to fall into a routine of just managing your kids without enjoying the process of the people they are becoming and how to break free of that mentality. If you know a new mom or one with young children this book would make an excellent gift!
