About the Author

Her first two novels, Heart on a Chain and Geek Girl, were written for her daughters, who then encouraged her to publish them. Today, she has eight published novels to her name, including the Whitney Award–nominated young adult romance The End of Feeling. The mother of four grown children and two grandchildren, she enjoys writing, hanging out at the Salt Lake Comic Con, and riding her Harley all over Utah, where she was born and raised.

Titled End of Feeling, this book is anything but as you will feel the effects long after the last word is read. Benjamin Nefer and Charlotte "Charlie" Austin will follow you into your dreams and keep you company for weeks to come. I LOVED it! We start our journey as Charlie moves to a new school, becoming the topic of conversation for many there. She is beautiful, smart, quirky, and an instant target for smooth talking Benjamin. The problem, she's already been warned of his reputation and she has a secret or two she'd rather keep private. Hiding is her specialty and she prefers to remain in the shadows.  Benjamin is the typical great looking, smooth-talking, high school jock with amazing footfall skills and a reputation for breaking hearts. On the outside he is the kind of guy every girl wants to date and every guy wants to emulate. But his home-life is a nightmare, one that will only be tolerable when he remains unfeeling.  Assumptions keep Charlie at arms length, giving Benjamin time to realize feeling empty may not be what he wants. Outside influences help Charlie remain at a safe distance from Benjamin's heartbreaking ways and wonder what it would be like to trust her secrets with the outside world.    This book is one emotional whirlwind that keeps you turning pages to see what happens next. I found myself cheering for Benjamin and Charlie as they navigate a world no teenager should ever have too, knowing that many do.   Simply put, I LOVED this book!

4.5 Star Review This was a very unique story of the hot guy falling for the new girl. See Benjamin, said "hot guy" is really damaged and after being hurt, he refuses to feel. He uses girls and has quite the reputation, but they just can't seem to stay away from him. Enter Charlie, she is the new girl and like Ben she has her own secrets that keep her a little distanced from others. The two enter a relationship based solely on friendship but things change and feelings start to develop. I loved that Charlie was a unique heroine. She had health struggles and her family dynamic was one that was very different from other stories. Ben was a little similar to other stories I have read but his interactions with Charlie and her family had me quickly warming up to Ben.  This story, despite the dark side Ben deals with daily was a rather sweet read. I found the friend group to be more idealistic than realistic. Normally the hot popular girls in school don't befriend the new girl who also has drawn the attention of one of the girls' ex boyfriends. Regardless, I liked them in the story and it was refreshing to not have too much catty behavior.  The ending did seem a little rushed to me. I know Ben had to find his way through his troubles and I am glad he was able to work things out somewhat with his family but I hated the way he treated Charlie. What was worse was the quick resolution to his treatment of her. I get he made somewhat of a grand statement in the way he sought her out but it just wasn't enough and she forgave him too quickly. A little more grovelling would have been appreciated. Overall, the book was still enjoyable and I would definitely read another book by Bennett in the future. Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Does anyone know why I am unable to purchase this book (credit card info up to date + I have purchased others w/o a problem) and I can no longer find it on the B & N website, either by title or by author name?

My Thoughts: It's no secret that every time I read a book by Cindy C. Bennett, I fall in love with it. I honestly have no idea how I'm even going to write this review because there are just no words to explain how wonderful this story is. I can't remember where my eyes became so glued to the page, but once they did, I was up for hours after my bedtime wanting to know what happens, needing to know. On the surface, Benjamin seems like a player, and everyone warns Charlie to be careful with him. But Benjamin can't keep away from her, so they become friends. Of course, as much as they try to deny it or pretend, they aren't just friends. The reality of where their friendship is leading is coming to the forefront... and the parts of their lives they've hoped to remain a secret might not stay hidden anymore. They fall for each other, slowly and beautifully. The End Of Feeling is achingly beautiful. The relationship between Benjamin and Charlie from friends to possibly more than friends was full of emotion. Their lives are different than others, and I loved how Cindy developed them, and the story. The secrets surprised me, but the way Benjamin and Charlie handle it makes me want to hug them ten times over. I don't think it's possible to adore a story more. You must read and find out for yourself. Seriously. My Rating: Exceptional
