Jack Nadel's "The Evolution of an Entrepreneur" is a must have for entry level entrepreneurs. What appealed the most about this book was his experience as a service member. Transitioning from active duty, especially during a time of war, is a hard experience. Starting a business after that, even harder. Learning about Jack's personal experience with creating a business from his position as an officer was a great way for me to learn what to do in my own situation. Jack also does a great job at bridging the old and the new. His tips cover general guidance, his experience, and how that advice and experience relates to being an entrepreneur then and now. Relaying his knoweldge in such a way makes his advice timeless. Anyone of any age or from any era, old or new, can pick up this book and learn exactly what they need to keep in mind as they move forward in their new venture. Thank you Jack for such a wonderful book!
What is the American Dream? Many believe it is buying their first house and many believe it is Freedom, while others believe it's the freedom to have an idea that wins. A Dollar and a Dream. The book starts out with a variety of stories with Jack in his life of business. As a bomber Pilot in WWII, he almost overnight discovers he is going to be a civilian again. He takes you back to the early days, and shows how a little cash and a good idea can make a difference in your life. Go on decades of journeys with him as he negotiates one deal after another. These deals lay the foundation for the lessons to come half way through the book. As a growing entrepreneur, I found his lessons encouraging. He discusses mistakes, struggles, and success. He teaches his Nadel Method, a practical five step process to getting your business running on the right track. While the book stresses a positive mind and honest business, for me, the biggest value was knowing I was heading in the right direction. While the Nadel Method helped me focus my idea, his out of the box thinking was evident even in his first deal. For the beginner, there are a lot of tips that save trouble later. However, there is still plenty for seasoned entrepreneurs to keep them sharp and remind them how important relationships are. It doesn't take a college degree to change lives, it just takes good ideas and decisions. The best mentor to have is the one that has been there and done that. Especially one who has the best of the entrepreneurial spirit at heart. Time for me to get a few more of his books. Thank you Jack, for sharing your experience.
Jack Nadel takes you back through the years and lets you feel what it was like to grow a business with him. You'll share his fears, his dreams, and the clever strategies that helped him succeed. You WILL experience the evolution of an entrepreneur!
I'm an academic and an entrepreneur who has a strong interest in helping others (students, entrepreneurs) to understand the opportunities, the excitement, but also the challenges and pitfalls of becoming and being an entrepreneur. Although I'm embedded in an academic setting, I see the tremendous value that "stories from the trenches" of successful entrepreneurs provide in the process. Jack Nadel's book is a very rich repository of important life lessons for starting and growing entrepreneurs - insightful and entertaining at the same time. It reads well and at the same time is very rich in content. Wonderful little book!
This is an excellent book for entrepreneurs and business professionals! I especially loved the 50 tips as they are both practical and insightful for countless scenarios I am in regularly. Great addition to my collection of business books!
