About the Author

JOHN REDMOND is Lecturer in the Economics of the European Community and Director of the Graduate School of International Studies at the University of Birmingham. He has also worked as an EC Liaison Officer in local government, and is the author of The EEC and the UK Economy, as well as articles on the EC's external relations.
