The Farmer Stands Alone is the first in the Derry-O mystery series about an FBI agent who escapes the threats generated by years of undercover work that conclude with the conviction off crime bosses. Paul Banion "hides" by becoming a dairy farmer. In book one Paul establishes his character as a dairy farmer with his childhood friend Ox. They are quickly embroiled in several mysterious murders, car chases, and lots of excitement for the small town in west central Minnesota.
