This was not at all complicated and yet had enough twists and turns to keep me fully engaged all the way through. There were several suspects and each had plenty of motive and opportunty. I wasn't shocked by the final solution and yet had not guessed it until it was revealed. I enjoyed the parallel story of the death in 1904. Again the author did not over complicate it as happens too many times when an author switches between timelines. I'm definitely going to try another book by this author

Twists and turns, not as many as I would have liked. I did like the 2 different story lines going on at once as that''s what kept me interested. Loved the ending.

I thought this book was great - easy read and kept me hooked the whole time. I kept trying to guess who the murderer was but every suspicion led to a dead end! The ending came together nicely as well.

I love this author! He raises your heart rate and causes you to second guess who the killer is in all of his books. The subtle romantic feelings between the two main characters is a nice slow burn. I'm rooting for them to finally give in to their feelings for good. I hope that we get more of their "romance" in the next book. I am doing my best to patiently wait for the next book. Hopefully, we will get a sneak peek soon ;) Please set aside the current book you are reading. This series will have you addicted in no time!

It is truly a nice read. The characters were intresting. It was nice to have two era's to change to. The intertwined relationships kept me on edge. The ending could have made it A five star if it had worked out differently.

Well written; good character development. Nice surprises that keep you guessing until the last chapter then you find out you were wrong! A very good read. He once again delivers on the detective duo.

Although the story line was good the ending was incomplete. To many details left out, it was like the writer got tired of the story and just ended it.

Was the book about the murder and the mystery, or about the main detective and his partner? The detective and his partner's personal struggles were very uninteresting and really distracted from what could have been a good read.
