Appealing to youth and adults alike, this book is a must-read for those who want insight into what life is really like for African American young men. The photographs are stunning, the quotes are well organized and very easy to read, and the wisdom and beauty of these young men shed badly needed light on the realities and dreams of this misrepresented segment of our population. All proceeds go towards equity-based storytelling programs so everything about this book is AMAZING.

This is an insightful look into what it's like to live and grow up in Oakland from the voices of its young African American boys. While the media projects and tells one story, the stories in this book tell another. The photography of these beautiful young people is worth 1,000 words and captures their strength, struggle, and optimism. This book is a find.
