The Haunting of a Duke by Chasity Bowlin

Communing with spirits has been both gift and curse to Emme Walters. Now it's made her a killer's target. Emme knows why the Dowager Duchess of Briarleigh invited her to a house party--to investigate whether the duke, Rhys Brammel, murdered his wife years ago. But Emme never imagined she would fall in love with the brooding duke.

Branded by society as a possible killer, Rhys is suspicious of Emme and her alleged "gift." Then a late night encounter creates awareness of her other, more attractive, aspects. When Emme's life is threatened, Rhys becomes her protector. Emme and Rhys find passion and peril as they join forces to solve the mysteries at Briarleigh. She made him believe in spirits, but can she make him believe in love?

About the Author

Chasity Bowlin lives in central Kentucky in a house that has more character than woking parts. She loves writing, loves traveling and enjoys incorporating tidbits of her actual vacations into her books. She is an avid Anglophile, loving all things British, but specifically all things Regency.

Growing up in Tennessee, spending as much time as possible with her doting grandparents, soap operas were a part of her daily existence, followed by back to back episodes of Scooby Doo. Her path to becoming a romance novelist was set when, rather than simply have her Barbie dolls cruise around in a pink convertible, they time traveled, hosted lavish dinner parties and one even had an evil twin locked in the attic.

Addicted to caffeine, chocolate and internet cats, Chasity loves hearing from readers and can be reached at .

Some parts dragged out, some could have been explained better. Also ran into duplicate chapters in the end unsure if other chapters were missing?

This was a good book I liked it alot and I will read more of this author. The only complaint I have is when u read some chapters you get confused because she goes back to past and future so quickly you thjnk you have missed reading pages. That I didn't like. Or at least she should have dated that part. Great mystery tho. I recommend it

Wonderful book and series. Strong characters, twisted story line, and the supernatural make a winning combination. It was a free offer and I am usually disappointed, but this was so good I bought the rest of the series!

I really enjoyed this book. Sometimes I just can't believe the story is fiction, as I shed tears over the words. The only thing that could make this better would for the story to be longer. I had been leaning to the Aunt as the murderer yet the ending was a surprise. Great writing. I have started the next one. Thanks

Reviewed by: Crystal Book provided by: Publisher Review originally posted at Romancing the Book When I read the blurb of this book I knew that I just had to read it. I was not disappointed with this book. It was all that I was expecting and more. I got to go on a great adventure. I got several stories all wrapped into one. There was a great historical story that had the hot passion that I love and it also had the paranormal element of ghosts. And there was also some suspense. Rhys was a strong man. He didn’t want to believe in anything that he couldn’t see. He has been burned by his wife that died several years ago and he basis everything on that experience. He just can’t explain the feelings that he has for Emme. Emme knows about all the gossip that goes on about her. She never wants to be known for seeing ghosts. She just wants a normal life. She knows that Rhys doesn’t trust her but the feelings that she gets when she is around him is something that can’t be ignored. I enjoyed the adventure that the author took me on. I was pulled into all directions and never knew what would happen next. Every time that something else happened, I was surprised. Not only did the living have a great story line, the dead did too. I am trying to come down from this big high that I am on. I was left wanting more. I hope that the author will give some of the other characters their own stories. I was really wanting to know more about them. I was glad that I took the chance on a new author and read something a little different. I wouldn’t recommend this book if I didn’t enjoy it so much. Take a chance and become a fan of Chasity Bowen.

I enjoyed the suspense. The H was alpha male and the h was reasonable. The story held my interest. The writing was good. The romance was somewhat detailed. But, the story was well-written. .

This is a wonderfully written story, with plenty of intrigue, witty dialogue, romantic sex, and rounded-out characters. The book would be a great read if it weren’t for all the typographical errors. Wrong words, missing words, and even duplicate chapters. This book is sorely in need of some serious editing! If not for this, would have given a five star rating.

Actually give it 4.5 stars. A good read to the end. An end I did not see coming.

Excellent storyline of suspense, mystery a little supernatural and romance. The storyline, cast of characters...all excellent. The frienship between Rhys, Lord Ellersleigh and Spencer/Lord Wolverton came to life and was very believable. Emme and her gift or burden made for an entertaining read. To bring in her sister Larissa who also have a gift or burden, was made the storyline even better. Some of the things that happened to the deceased was awful, but in the end.... Good won over evil. Lord Ellersleigh has his own story, and so do Larissa and Spencer. What I did notice towards the ending was that a chapter repeated itself, after realizing this, I turned pages and until I found the right section and continued through to the ending. The duplicate chapter did not take away the excellent storyline. Great HEA! Happy Reading! *******vrnb********

Rhys and Emme had quite a relationship, he learned to trust and watch over her. The mystery of who did the crimes wasn't solved until the end. Someone really messed up during proofing and had an earlier chapter repeated near the end.

One chapter appeared 3 times. Another chapter appeared twice . Good story but out of sequence chapters.

The plot was good and the story well written. Book was out of order at the end. But that is not the authors fault.

Not knowing I have read this book previously I couldn't put it down. Though some of the chapters were repeated I totally enjoyed reading this book!

Decent book. However, it needs some serious editing. 2 chapters were repeated, 1 out context and the other was a repeat of the epilogue. Also, you have to fill in gaps because of missing details. She wasn't consistent with names of places, people, so it was confusing at times. Made me flip between pages for things I thought I missed but in reality they weren't there.

Loved the characters and the story! Mystery, romance what more could you want?

Thoroughly enjoyable read. Great characters and great story. Somehow there are 2 Chapter 16s.. one of which repeated from an earlier chapter. And 2 Epilogues which are identical. Having edited many a research paper for my students, I feel that these 2 mistakes, were disconcerting. Overall, I will more than likely read Michael’s story as well as Larissa’s and Spence’s. The characters are well defined and fun. Trying to figure “who” was intriguing. Perhaps the actual text doesn’t have the issues I found in the e-book.
