Loved the book and the story line... Characters seemed real and emotions were normal although I wanted to smack Jessica for running away - but only for her lack of not realizing what a great gal she was... Wish every woman had a Gavin in her life... Excellent series...

This a fun, romantic story, and you don't have to be a baseball fan to enjoy it.

Gavin was traded during his recouperation from a leg injury. Sided from playing baseball, Gavin thinks life can't get worse till his long-distance, model girlfriend breaks up with him.Jessica is one of the team's physical therapists and good at it. Learning the hard way, she has learned to NEVER date an athlete. Working with Gavin, Jessica feels something more than friendship and realizes Gavin does too. Jessica agrees to just sex but Gavin feels something more and needs to convince Jessica that he's nothing like her ex. Slow at times but overall a good read. *I received this through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Gavin is a baseball player who was injured. Because his current management team wasn’t sure how well he was going to recover, they decided to cut their losses and transferred him to a new baseball team. After he was transferred he needed to continue his rehabilitation. Enter Jessica; his new physical therapist. While they are instantly attracted to each other, Gavin knows he cannot act on his feelings because he has a girlfriend in CA. However he suspects something is not quite right with them, especially now that he is on the injured list and not sure he will ever be able to play again. Also having an ex-boyfriend who was a baseball player, Jessica was not big on jumping into a relationship with another player. However they can’t deny their attraction to each other. They are a good couple together. I like how this author is able to throw in a little humor in her books. Having read other books in this series, it can be read as a stand-alone. This is one of things I like about her books. She introduces you to new characters, but also pulls in ones from the others. It makes you feel it is a continuation because you get to see how things are going for them. I look forward to her next book.

Gavin was traded to the Sonics due to an injury and now Jessica, the team’s physical therapist must see that he’s once again healthy enough to play ball. She’s already tried the romance thing with a ball player before and doesn’t plan on going down that road again…until she meets Gavin face to face. Now she has to stick to her guns and her rules and be professional. No romance, strictly business, especially when she ended up with a broken heart before. After Gavin’s last girlfriend broke up with him when he got hurt, he’s decided to concentrate on getting well enough to get back to playing baseball. What he doesn’t expect is the gorgeous redhead who just happens to be his new physical therapist… Once again, I’m loving another sports romance from author Katie Rose! The Heat of the Moment has the perfect cast of characters and I adore the smoking hot hero, Gavin! He’s perfect for Jessica and she’s perfect for him too, with her being a physical therapist and her big family being full of sports players. Ms. Rose always has a great plot and her heroes keep the reader hot under the collar with her physical character byplay (ooh yeah!). The sex scenes make her books very worthy of your time and if you wouldn’t want to pull her heroes right out of the book and take them home you may need to check with a doctor to make sure you’re alright (lol)! Ms. Rose is a great author and I always look forward to her next book. The Bad Boys of Baseball Series is one you won’t want to miss! Hurry! 4 1/2 Stars!

Gavin has been traded from the Dodgers because of an injury to New Jersey. Gavin was a first baseman. Jessica is a new sports therapist and is working with Gavin. In a moment of celebration, Gavin kissed Jessica and she kissed him back. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Not being a big fan of sports, it kept interesting me enough to read it, especially how an injured player feels, an insight I've never thought about. The plot was excellent, but most of all, Jessica's and Gavin's characters make the story. I highly recommend it. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review**

The Heat of the Moment by Katie Rose The Heat of the Moment is a sweet, sexy and endearing baseball romance. Jessica Hart is a physical therapist for the Jersey Sonics. She has a strict rule, never get involved with her clients which was great until she meets Gavin King. Gavin was at the top of his game until a knee injury might destroy his chances of ever returning at top performance again. Now he just has to keep his head down, take it easy and leave the fiery red headed Jessica be. That is much easier said than done because the pull between them is absolutely magnetic. Gavin is a strong alpha character with just the right amount of vulnerability. He’s not one to sit easily on the side lines. Jessica is a woman who knows herself and what she wants. She grew up knowing a brother had her back. Jessica builds a friendship with Gavin that evolves, it isn’t an insta-love situation, making it realistic and pulling you deeper into the story. The Heat of the Moment was a great contemporary romance. I enjoyed watching the story unfold. If you are a sports romance fan, then The Heat of the Moment is the perfect book for you. I received this ARC copy of The Heat of the Moment from Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept in exchange for a honest review.

I actually tried to read the first Boys of Summer story but it wasn't quite my taste and so I skipped over the second ... but thanks to the third I'm definitely going back to give it a shot :) I love these guys - they are high spirited and fun, but they are serious when they need to be. Gavin has a lot on his plate. He's coming off of a potentially career ending surgery and has been traded to a lower tier team. He's not handling it well and is feeling sorry for himself. He just doesn't realize yet how lucky he is to have Jessica. Not only does she work wonders on his knee but she's good for his attitude as well. I love Jessica. She's grown up in a man's world and is good at holding her own. She understands how their minds work and that is very handy in her job. She's just what Gavin needs to get his head back in the game ... and he's just what she needs to remind her that she's a woman too. There's actually a few things that happen to help Jess's new attitude - Gavin, new girlfriends, and a jerk of an ex. But the more girly she feels and the more time she spends with Gavin, the harder it is to keep from falling for the sexy (both inside and out) ballplayer. I remember thinking that Bring On the Heat was well written but I had an issue with a couple of the characters' actions. And it was true here as well, although not enough to keep me from enjoying the story overall - it's a minor complaint and came at the very end. Jessica seemed to come so far over the course of the second half of the book and then just regressed. I'd thought she'd grown so much and had become such a confident woman that I was a little disappointed in her actions. But Gavin's totally made up for it and had me falling for him just that little bit more. Packed full of spunky characters, complimented with an appealing plot, The Heat of the Moment is the perfect read for fans of sports romances. I'll admit it--I'm not a huge fan (read: not at all) of baseball. The games are too long, not enough happens, and I just can't get into it. But sports romances with baseball players? Sign me up! The Heat of the Moment sounded like a good read--and has a pretty cover (I know, I know--sue me!)--so I jumped right on that. I definitely wasn't disappointed. I absolutely loved Gavin (my new baseball-playing book boyfriend!) and Jessica's story. Gavin's determination--to get himself back in shape after his injury, to treat Jess the way she deserved to be treated (despite what her brothers and Jess himself said he should do--good for him!) made him a superstar in my book. And oh my goodness, the poor guy's date from hell--he tried so hard to give Jess a great date, and it all went so wrong so fast (and I laughed so hard...LOL). I wasn't ready to say goodbye to him when the book ended; hopefully he'll show up in future series installments! Jess was a strong heroine--with all of her brothers growing up, she'd have to be! I liked that she didn't make herself over for Gavin, any changes she made with her clothing, etc. she did to make herself feel better (Gavin just got to enjoy the benefits ;)). I totally got her hesitation to start anything with Gavin--and she did a stellar job of resisting him for as long as she did--but I was a bit disappointed in her toward the end, when she was so quick to believe he'd do what she thought he did. I understand her insecurities there, but really thought she should have had more faith in him... Still, that was really the only blip in the whole book. Overall this was just a really enjoyable, feel-good read. I'll definitely go back and give the first two series books a go! Rating: 4 stars / A- I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

A sweet and sexy lighthearted romance. For Jessica, being one of the guys comes naturally since she grew up with four older brothers. As physical therapist for a professional baseball team, understanding sports and its psychology is equally easy with all her brothers growing up to be professional athletes. As a woman, she’s gone down the road of dating a pro-ball player and found it’s a heartbreakingly disappointing road and sworn never to go out with professionals. So why is she compelled to take the risk once more after she meets her incredibly handsome client, the newly acquired New Jersey’s Sonics heavy hitter? “You make me feel like… there’s hope. That this will happen. I will get well, fin in here, and make a place for myself. And eventually, be right back to knocking it out of the park.” Gavin thought he had everything he wanted. A promising career and future with an elite baseball club and gorgeous girlfriend who hung on his arm. But after a serious knee injury he finds out his team isn’t willing to bet on him and neither is his soon to be ex-girlfriend. After being traded to the Sonics he finds himself struggling to accept his new reality with a team of jokesters while trying to rehabilitate his knee, get back to playing form and keep his distance from his alluring physical therapist. Can he convince Jessica into taking a chance on them? “I very much want to see her, to treat her the way she deserves… Your sister can be a little stubborn. She has decided that she won’t date another ballplayer. I intend to change all that.” This is a great weekend read. I loved the excitement of reading about America’s national pastime coupled with the vested interest I had with the characters. "I just got caught up in the heat of the moment." I really liked Gavin, he’s a charismatic, alpha male with romantic streak and hidden vulnerability given his current condition. You can’t get any sexier than that, even when his plans for wooing Jessica include giving beautiful flowers she’s allergic to and dinner plans turn soggy. I also liked Jessica, her honesty and her tomboyishness very much, except a couple of times when she acted a bit immaturely. But I found that I was enjoying the plot and her behavior didn’t hinder hers and Gavin’s relationship. “Jessica Hart was her own person. She had a job that she was good at, helped other people, contributed. A purpose-driven life.” The attraction between Gavin and Jessica was intense and instant. But I liked their push-pull and how they became friends first because of Jessica’s reservations towards professional athletes and Gavin’s unavailability. I love a good sports romance, especially one with an attractive, thoughtful and charming hitter. The Heat of The Moment is the third book in The Boys of Summer series by Katie Rose. Filled with the thrill of baseball and tender and hot moments with a happy ending. It can be read as a standalone with interconnecting characters from the previous book in the series. No cheating.

The Heat of the Moment is another great addition to Katie Rose's Boys of Summer series. In this installment, which is a companion novel that can easily be read as a standalone, we get to know Gavin and Jessica. Jessica is a physical therapist for the Sonics, the baseball team that Gavin is now playing for after suffering an injury which resulted in his being traded by the Dodgers. Of course, Jessica is going to play a key role in his rehabilitation. I really thought Gavin was going to be a jerk, coming from what he considered and elite team, down to a lower level, but while he had a few moments, he really fit in well and I was impressed with the way he adapted. Jessica is not the kind of girl he typically goes for, but he his fascinated and captivated by her. He's her patient, plus, she got burned the last time she dated a ballplayer, so Gavin has his work cut out for him. Jessica comes from a big family and has several brothers who play major league sports that like to give her a hard time, while being extremely protective of her as well. Things heat up between these two, romantically and when they both have to deal with a couple of blasts from the past. Their romance was funny, hot, passionate, and sweet at times. I very much enjoyed watching things develop between them, as well as seeing how things unfolded with Jessica's family, and with the Sonics. Of course we get to see Jake and the other guys we've come to know and love in the past novels, which was also a bonus. The Heat of the Moment is a wonderful sports-themed contemporary romance and something that I would definitely recommend checking out.

Sexy baseball romance! Gavin and Jessica are both likeable and have great chemistry. Jessica never thought she would fall for another athlete, but Gavin is impossible to resist. I enjoyed seeing their relationship blossom as he goes through rehab for his knee. I kept wondering whether or not he would fully recover or if he would have to retire. You'll have to read it to find out! I received an ARC via NetGalley for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review, all conclusions are my own.

Jessica Hart, is a physical therapist that has learned the hard way to not mix business and pleasure. She works with New York Sonics baseball team and their newest acquisition Gavin King is her newest patient. Gavin was happy on the west coast, with his model girlfriend, until he is injures his knee and is traded to the Sonics. The team has much different atmosphere and he is instantly drawn to Jessica. She helps him heal and gradually find a place with the team. Will Gavin be able to overcome her experience and convince Jessica to give him a chance? I am a sucker for sport romance, especially ones that involve players overcoming injury. This is a great example of well written romance that features sports, but really is a story between two people destined to be together. I am a huge fan of Katie Rose and look forward to reading the future books in this series, this is my favorite book in it so far. I was given a free copy for an honest review by netgalley.com.

3.5 stars---THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT is the third installment in Katie Rose’s contemporary, adult THE BOYS OF SUMMER romantic sports series focusing on the New Jersey Sonics baseball team. This is professional baseball player Gavin King, and physical therapist Jessica Hart’s storyline. THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous storylines is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT follows the rehabilitation of big league slugger Gavin King. Gavin’s near career -ending injury has found our storyline hero in the unenviable position on the DL –Disabled List- as he endures months of physical therapy due to the invasive surgery of repairing the meniscus in his knee. The potential for the injury to destroy his career has landed the once a-list player as the newest member of the struggling New Jersey Sonics following a trade from one of the top rated teams. What ensues is the building relationship between physical therapist Jessica Hart-a young woman who has been burned by a previous relationship with a former Sonics player. Jessica and Gavin’s attraction to one another is immediate and intense but our storyline heroine wants nothing to do with another professional baseball player. Her previous relationship disaster has left Jessica jaded in the face of a potential love match with Gavin King. Gavin’s history of dating fashion models finds Jessica struggling with self esteem issues about her own beauty and body type. As Gavin continues to pursue Jessica in the hopes of something more, Jessica begins to pull back believing their relationship will end in heartbreak for our storyline heroine. The $ex scenes are intimate without the over the top erotic factor-quite vanilla in context and description. Most of the secondary and supporting characters include the members of the New Jersey Sonics including Darcy and Chase (Bring on the Heat #1) who are preparing for their upcoming nuptials, and Nikki and Jake (Too Hot to Handle #2). Several of the team management and PT staff are present, as well as both Gavin and Jessica’s exes who are looking for a second chance. Jessica and Gavin’s extended families play a supporting role including Jessica’s brothers who want to know Gavin’s intentions with their little sister. The storyline premise is interesting although a little slow to build as we follow weeks to months of physical therapy for our storyline hero. The writing is simple although the author has done some research as it pertains to the physical therapy and sports related injuries. The characters are well developed, colorful and believable. The conflict is quick to resolve but in all honesty our heroine is the root cause of most of the storyline anxiety-Jessica has issues of trust, and in this, her immaturity is a point of contention for this reader: any threats to Gavin and Jessica’s relationship are blown out of proportion by the perception of betrayal and the possibility of second chances for Gavin and his ex. THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT is a light read with a little bit of everything: $ex, romance, conflict, fun and falling in love. There are no complicated scenarios; no mind blowing issues of dark demons or past histories with devastating actions. It is a story about two people who meet under professional circumstances and fall in love.

4 stars I really enjoyed The Heat of the Moment. This was a sweet and heartwarming friends to lovers story. Loved Jessica and Gavin's story. They were both likable and relatable, they shaded a strong connection that drew you in from the beginning and grew through out the book. I enjoyed watching Gavin romance Jessica, he was such a sweet and giving man. He had me swooning on more than one occasion, Jessica was one very lucky girl. The Heat of the Moment is a sweet, sexy and heartfelt romance that will leave you with a heart full of happy feels. I highly recommend this book.

This book is the 3rd in The Boys of Summer series. Can be read as a standalone novel, but for reader's benefit, I always recommend the whole series be read in order. Jessica Hart and Gavin King meet when he is traded to the New Jersey Sonics team she works for as a physical therapist. The attraction between them is instant. Jessica is gun shy since she has already dated a baseball player who treated her poorly. Gavin takes an immediate interest in Jessica. He is trying to adjust to being traded, moving to a new place, and getting to know and try to be part of the team. She just makes him feel at peace. Like he can learn to love New Jersey and make it home. Jessica is happy to be friends with Gavin. They click really well and she does find him attractive. She just does not want to be hurt and sidelined like her last relationship did. When her ex comes to town, what is a girl to do? Gavin wants to take her and their relationship to the next level. Can he overcome his own fears to help her past hers? They are great as friends. Is it worth it to risk what they have for what comes next? This was an amazing story that gave me serious feels. They are both just running from their pasts and trying so hard. I was absolutely enthralled by the banter and the sexy times were good too.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book! I'm not a sports fan by any means, so I wasn't sure about this book. I was pleased at pretty much the whole book. The parts where they were playing ball about put me to sleep but overall this was a really sweet love story!! The author did a good job, I think, making the characters believable! If you like baseball, you may very well enjoy this book!

Another great book in The Boys of Summer / Bad Boys of Baseball series – no cliffhanger. This is the third book in The Boys of Summer series but you don’t have to have read the other books to enjoy this one; they all standalone. Gavin King was a hitting star with the Dodgers but he injured his knee and they traded him to the much less desirable New Jersey Sonics. Jessica Hart is a sports therapist for the Sonics and Gavin is assigned to work with her to restore his knee so he can begin playing again. Jessica doesn’t like or date baseball players. Gavin has a girlfriend when he moves to New Jersey but she soon breaks up with him. There is an attraction between Gavin and Jessica but neither of them is interested in a relationship. Working together so closely creates sparks that eventually come to a head. I enjoyed this book a lot; it was a nice summer read. The pace was good and the characters interesting. If you’ve read the first two books you will be happy to revisit those characters in this book but you won’t be missing anything vital if you haven’t read them. The Boys of Summer is a good series and I look forward to reading more books from Katie Rose. Note: I was given an early copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my review. I see that the name of the series appears to have been changed to the Bad Boys of Baseball.

This was my first experience with this author, and I had not read either of the first two books of this series, so I wasn't sure what to expect ... I LOVED IT! I have to say that I have not gotten as attached to a set of characters as quickly as I did these in quite some time. I was rooting for them from the first moment they met. Very enjoyable read and sexy to boot! It begins with Gavin King, professional baseball first baseman, learning his high end California team is trading him to the mediocre New Jersey Sonics. He's stunned and not happy with the change. He gets to Jersey and meets the team that is not anywhere near as serious about the game as he's used to, and begins rehabbing his knee to try to get back into the game. When he sets eyes on the team's Sports Therapist he'll be working out with, Jessica Hart, he's instantly attracted to her, but he has a girlfriend back in California, and Jessica has sworn off of professional athletes after having her heart broken by a guy the year prior. They become friends and she helps him alot in understanding what he can and can't do with his knee while his healing is happening. He's soon dumped by his super model girlfriend now that he's not a mega-star, and Jessica starts to realize he might be different after all from the jerk she is getting over. Will she decide to take a chance on him? Will his knee heal enough for him to ever get to play pro ball again? Can he learn to fit in with this team that's so different from what he's used to? Read the book to find out all of the juicy details. You won't be disappointed!

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is my third book by Katie Rose, and third book in her Boys of Summer series. This was a cute quick read just like the first two. Jessica and Gavin are the perfect couple, even though she has her reasons to stay away from ball players. Fortunately, Gavin doesn't give up easily. And, Roger is in desperate need of a trade from the Sonics.

Yahoo Sports Romances! I was very excited for this book. The Heat of the Moment is the third book in The Boys of Summer series by Katie Rose. Growing up, I was a wee bit boy crazy over baseball players. I mean, between them and surfers, my girly hearthrob world was complete. Anyway, that put this book right up my alley, and before I even started it, I read the previous two books in the series. (You can find the reviews on my blog as well!) The Heat of the Moment does have an HEA, it can be read as a standalone but I think you’d enjoy it more if you’d read the other books, and it’s told from dual first person point-of-views between the main characters. I went into this book sort of blind and in fact, I didn’t read the synopsis. I had been prepared for who I thought this book was going to be about, and it wasn’t. That left me extremely surprised, but in a good way. In The Heat of the Moment, you meet recently injured and traded from the Dodgers to the Sonics, Gavin King. The trade basically turns his career on it’s head. With his injury, no one wants to take a chance on him, except for the Sonics. Gavin is one of those characters that I just instantly loved. He’s going through all manner of things, his life is up in the air, he loves baseball and doesn’t know if he’s going to be able to keep playing it. It doesn’t set him on his backside though, he puts his nose to the grindstone and keeps trying. I’d like to call him stubborn, but he’s not. Instead I’ll term his as a hard working hunk with a six pack. On a serious note, he’s a pretty complex character, when nothing seems to be going right for him, he doesn’t curl up in a ball and just die off. He fights back. Enter Jessica Hart into his life, the Sonics physical therapist. Red-headed, freckled, tomboyish… another character I instantly loved. She’s gorgeous, the guys drool over her and she’s oblivious to it. She has her mind set on helping Gavin recover from his injury, and she’ll drag him out of his dull drums more than once. She doesn’t let him feel sorry for himself. She’s fiery, and feisty, yet has a soft center to her. There isn’t an instant attraction between these two beyond the acknowledgement of the fact that the other is attractive. They actually start out with a very solid working relationship, which turns into friends and then more. I think I enjoyed that slow burn to the explosive chemistry the most. The Heat of the Moment was a four star read for me. I only found two actual problems that I had with it and the are mostly minor. In fact, others may not even notice them. The first reason it’s rated lower is because the ending seemed rushed. I got a bit confused at one part because it just seemed to jump and I wasn’t sure how that happened. Even rereading it. The other reason I had was that, while the ending is rushed, if you’ve read the first two books, you’ll realize that the main characters from the first book are getting married. Gavin and Jessica are attending that wedding. It almost felt as if the end of the book was more about the other characters, then the main characters in this book. (Hopefully that makes sense.) All in all though, I’d definitely recommend this book. It’s a great curl up and escape book.

This was my first encounter with this author's work, and I must say it left a VERY good first impression! Being that it is the third installment in the series, and not having read the previous titles, I was a little concerned I'd have a hard time following along, but that wasn't the case for me at all. I think this book could easily be read as a stand alone title, but my guess is that once you finish it you will be reaching for the other books in the series, I know I plan to! I truly enjoyed reading this story, I found the writing style was very engaging and easy to submerse myself into, so much so, I ended up devouring it in one sitting. The characters are very well written, and are very entertaining, I loved the heated banter between them! Some of my favorite reads are sports related romance stories and this one definitely hit the mark for me! This would make a perfect summer read, however, I suggest keeping a cool drink close by, because these very enticing baseball players like to heat things up!! An Awesome addition to the Boys of Summer series. This is easily read stand alone if you haven't picked up the others (you really should though!). I loved these characters right from the start and what a perfect character Gavin turned out to be. After suffering an injury that no one is sure he can recover from, Gavin finds himself being traded from one of the top teams to what is considered one of the jokes of the league, the New Jersey Sonics. Accepting the trade like the professional he is, Gavin is determined to get through rehab, get back in the game, and prove once again he deserves to be on a top contenders roster. Once he meets his very attracted physical therapist, he knows he better stay away from her or all is plans could go up in smoke. Physical therapist Jessica Hart knows Gavin King's type. Love 'em and leave 'em all the way. Been there, done that, not going to happen again. After getting to know him though she begins to think maybe she has him wrong but is she willing to break her no dating athlete's rule??? This is a fantastic easy read that I definitely recommend.

Gavin King is a superstar of the Los Angeles Dodgers and living the high life. He gets hurt in a game and ends up being traded to the New Jersey Sonics and his world comes crashing down. Now at the Sonics, Gavin has to rehab his knee with Jessica Hart, one of the team's physical trainers. There is an instant attraction between these two. Too bad Jessica has sworn off ball players. After her last boyfriend, who was a ball player, cheated on her she has a bad taste for any guy who plays ball. As Gavin's life is slowly falling apart, he finds a kindred spirit with Jessica. She is not normally the type of woman he falls for but he really enjoys spending time with her. I adored Jessica. She was a strong, tough woman. I guess having five brothers helps! I even enjoyed her brothers. They were funny and overprotective at the same time. Gavin was a great hero too. Tall, dark and hot, my favorite attributes! I loved how he seemed the playboy type, but deep down he really was a nice guy. I loved how his feelings for Jessica slowly developed. The chemistry between these two was great. Overall another great book from Katie Rose in her The Boys of Summer series.
