This was a well-written, charming, entertaining book. Set in medieval Scotland, it included paranormal elements, with characters of Fae lineage. Annelise of Kinfairlie is shy and has trouble speaking to potential suitors, until she meets Garrett. Garrett MacLachlan is half-Fae, and carries a gift (or curse?) which has made him an outcast. He meets Annelise, who helps him dare to believe he might be able to overcome the curse and reclaim his inheritance. It was great to read how each character grow and become better by uniting together. This can be read as a stand alone book, though it is the second in a four book series with related characters. I loved this book and can't wait to read the next one! Copy gifted by the Publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Cheated of his inheritance and burdened by the legacy of his Fae blood Garrett MacLachlan believes he is doomed to be an outcast forever until he meets Annelise of Kinfairlie, a gentle maiden with the power to turn his curse into a gift. If you liked the siblings of Kinfairlie you will like this one also. If you like stories of the Fae with clear or maybe not so clear good guys and bad guys you'll find it here. I loved the way Annelise helped Garrett work through the riddle of his life and curse. If you like stories where love trumps all else this is for you. Even though it is the second book in the True Love Brides II series, which makes it the story of the fifth Lammergeier sibling the book and story can and does stand alone. You don't have to read any of the others to enjoy this one The first three siblings stories are told in the first True Love Brides series and this is the second book of the True Love Brides II series. This book just wonderful! I loved Annelise and Garrett's story. He saves her life and she in turn saves his. Garrett is cursed by his fae blood to hear the thoughts of others, so he chooses to live in the woods, alone. Annelise, is a shy sweet maiden. She is on a walk through the woods when a wolf attacks her, she is saved by a hunter. I loved how these two grew to love each other. It is a really sweet and loving story. ***Copy gifted by publisher in exchange for an honest review***

I received a free copy of the ebook of The Highlander's Curse in exchange for an honest opinion. The Highlander's Curse is the second book of The True Love Brides collection. This one, though excellent writing, wasn't exactly my favorite, probably because the premise was not at at all what I expected. It showed great creativity and imagination. I read the book, and of course bought the accompanying audio book as I've come to adore Saskia Maarleveld's narration abilities. She is excellent at making the characters seem to actually come to life and hold our interest throughout the entire book. The sex and violence were not even close to being over the top, in my opinion. I must say, neither Claire Delacroix or Saskia Maarleveld, ever seem to leave me disappointed. If you enjoy highland love stories that continually build one upon the other, allowing for a carry over of the characters from the various stories, you should enjoy this book along with all the others... each having its own individual twist. I would have no problem what so ever recommending this book or audio version of the book. KElizabeth G.

I love the mixture of Fae lore with historical romance in this book. Highlander Garrett MacLachlan has been cursed by the Fae to always hear the thoughts of those around him, making it nearly impossible for him live among others and reclaim his rightful home. Living a quiet life in the forest seems to be the only option available to him. Until he meets the woman who can quiet the voices in his head and bring him peace. Annelise of Kinfairlie has always been a shy young woman, with no interest in the adventures of others. When a simple walk in the woods puts her in harms way, she is saved by a handsome hunter. With an unlikely boldness, Annelise grants this hunter a kiss as a reward. She is inexplicably drawn to this hunter and finds herself living an adventure of her own. I love the relationship that forms between Garrett and Annelise. It is so touching to watch as each of the Kinfairlie daughters find their true love.

"The Highlander's Curse" was an interesting book. It is the story of Garrett, who is pretty much a recluse because of a "curse", and Annelise. Garrett shows his strength in overcoming adversity to get his family legacy through the story and Annelise helps him in his quest. I liked both character's growth throughout the story but felt that Garrett was the deeper of the two characters. There were surprised throughout and I enjoyed the authors creativity with the use of fae legend. Copy gifted by the Publisher in exchange for an honest review.

The Highlander’s Curse by Claire Delacroix Audible edition narrated by Saskia Maarleveld Claire Delacroix is a master storyteller and one of the best medieval romance authors ever. Her second in her True Love Bride’s series is full of legend and myth and historical veracity with breathtaking sweeping vistas and a stable full of award winning characters, both human and Fae, good and evil. Her stars are larger than life, amusing and intense and both deserving of their all-illusive HEA. Her time appropriate dialogue gives readers a fly on the wall look at life in the long ago Scottish Highlands. And a must read for any lover of historical and fantasy romance. Audible review: Readers will experience total sensory immersion in Saskia Maarleveld’s rendition of Claire Delacroix’s The Highlander’s Curse. Her tonal mastery is like a siren’s call for listeners as she plays all the roles male, female, human and fae perfectly and brings the Scottish Highland’s of long ago right to her audience. Annelise Lammergeier of Kinfairlie has been left in the care of her older sister’s husband. She’s always been the timid sibling but she wants to be bold, she thinks it will help find her a husband. But she’ll only accept a love match and while praying at a Fae shrine for just that purpose she’s saved from the teeth of a wolf by a brave handsome woodsman Garrett MacLachlan is a man without a holding, cursed by his fae blood and outcast from his rightful place as heir, he’s afraid there’s no hope for his reclaiming his birthright. And knows there is a powerful force keeping him away. Then he meets and falls under the spell of a beautiful mortal woman who’s heart is pure and his for the taking. Garrett and Annelise set out on a journey to restore him to his proper place but they must face human and immortal foes if they can.

Claire Delacroix can not write a bad story, this one is no exception! Although it is part of a series, is a great stand alone story also! I really enjoyed it!
