The History of Black History Month

The history of Black History Month from its earliest beginnings as "Negro History Week" is placed in perspective by understanding the African Diaspora, and the impact Black History Month has had on other celebrations, like St. Patrick's Day, Columbus Day, Indigenous People's Day, Ceasar Chavez Day, Chinese New Year and Hanukkah. And this helps explain why Black History Month has not only become an international holiday, but is celebrated differently around the world.
