Great short story to introduce John to his new love in the Brew Ha Ha. Loved watching the characters grow into the now.

This is Leah. Please don't respond at just any book under "used to". There are too many. When you respond, please give me at least 2 books to respond to because I can only write one review per book. I love you.

What I appreciate about Caitie Quinn's series is she takes a common romance premise: last standing single girl in a group of girlfriends, and a four-week challenge to find a date/boyfriend by New Year's Eve (hilarity ensues), and within the space of a novella, she manages to add deeper layers of characterization that upend the trope. This story could have easily only focused on the dating mishaps, but we also see glimpses of main character Sarah's interests outside of dating (her museum job) and she expresses hurt at how her friends circle has changed as they get married, have babies, and life shifts. She looks more closely at why she felt compelled to find herself a NYE date in the first place. Shouldn't her friends accept her as she is? Why is it such a crime to be dateless on New Year's, especially when they planned it originally as a girl's night? The additional layers and exploration is what's bringing me back to her books. This read is very short--not full novel length. I'm looking forward to the author's longer works.
