THIS BOOK IS FANTASTIC! I had become bored with cooking, and here this little gem comes along. The recipies are interesting, well-written, delicious, and EASY. The photography and her little drawings are creative inspirations. I absolutely love this cookbook. Thank you Rachel.

The book is an excellant companion to the series of TV programmes that were shown on the BBC in the UK. It easily dispels the secrets of French cooking with easy to follow recipes. To see the size, or lack of size, of Rachel's Paris kitchen gives you confidence when trying the recipes. If in the States, demand to obtain a DVD of the programmes. 'You can smell the French food from the UK.' I am sure you will have a similar experience in the USA. I am buying a copy of the book for my american bother-in-law, who has taken up cookery as a serious hobby. Roger Fish Cambridgeshire, UK

I’ve read the entire book and cooked several of the recipes. From crispy rabbit with mustard to onion and crème fraiche tart. The recipes are excellent, straight forward (if you know how to cook), and fun to put together. This is food I use mostly for entertaining or just plain experimenting at home. The preamble to the recipes is interesting and worth the read. Many times there’s no preamble at all or it simply misses the point. The ones in this book are not so long as to be numbing or make you avoid it, before getting to the good stuff. French cooking is a way of life not just a set of recipes. I think Rachel brings that aspect out in her book in an inspiring way. I rate this book as excellent for the following reasons: inspiring, beautiful pictures, mostly unique recipes, excellent recipes and interesting preambles to the recipes.
