James Augustus St. John (1795-1875) was a British journalist, author and traveller. Born in Wales, the son of a shoemaker, he began his career as a journalist writing for various newspapers in London. He lived some years on the Continent. His books, Journal of a Residence in Normandy and Lives of Celebrated Travellers (3 vols.) were published in 1830.
