“Living well is the best revenge”. With that opening line, I knew The Mediterranean Diet Cookbook was going to be unlike any other diet cookbook I’ve read. This “diet” brings a Mediterranean sensibility to an American audience. What’s emphasized in this book isn’t calorie counting or restricting foods; the purpose of this lifestyle change is to start cooking using more fruits, veggies, and grains and less red meat and dairy. This leads to a more healthy (and leaner) you. Plus, with recipes like Chicken Marsala, Lamb Couscous, and Burgundy Salmon (as well as some truly decadent desserts!), you won’t be missing out on flavorful and delicious recipes simply because you’re eating healthier. This is one diet I’ll be glad to follow!

I found The Mediterranean Diet Cookbook while looking for new recipes to add to my collection, and it’s certainly worth its $9.99. The book gave me different spins on some of my favorite dishes, as well as completely new ones that are easily adaptable. I highly recommend the avocado and honey smoothie—try it with Greek yogurt if you want it richer. The book also includes tips to make its recipes less caloric, which is certainly helpful if you’re trying to lose weight. I’d definitely pick this one up if you’re looking for some culinary change.

The Mediterranean Diet Cookbook encourages dieters to adopt the happy and easy-going lifestyle of the region it’s named for. Personally, I find the focus on reformatting my mindset as part of a larger diet plan both challenging and refreshing. By exercising and sticking to the food pyramid guidelines that emphasize grains and produce over meats and sweets, I have been feeling healthier and more satisfied. The recipes are easy to make, yet sophisticated with robust flavors. I love the creamy soups and petite snacks that provide the ideal pick-me-up during my busy days. Winding down with a banana cream parfait after a hectic afternoon gives me just the treat I need to relax and cherish life’s simple pleasures.

If you love Mediterranean food, are looking for new and exciting recipes, or just trying to eat healthier? Then try The Mediterranean Diet Cookbook. Each recipe has ingredients that are easily found at your local grocers (and has substitutions for the harder to find items). There are also lower calorie versions for each recipe and there are many vegetarian dishes to try. This cookbook makes trying Mediterranean and eating the traditional dishes simple and every spoonful is delicious! It even includes great deserts and snacks. This is a cookbook for everyone.

I love the idea of this book!  The metiterranean diet is actually just a healthy way of life and not a weight loss concept. People have been eating this way for thousands of years! The author provides a pyramid scheme that explains the proportions and frequencies of kinds of foods you should eat. It's very simple.  The cookbook consists of chapters with recipes for specific meals like “breakfast”, “soups”, “desserts”, etc. The recipes are quite simple and sound easy to make, and what I especially liked is that the author also explains how to make your own salad dressings and pita chips. That would certainly reduce the cost of the food. Tomorrow for breakfast – Garlic Scrambled Eggs with Basil!

For people that have been on and off diets, The Mediterranean Diet Cookbook is an innovative approach, and gives a simple roadmap to follow. Beyond healthy eating, this book also focuses on lifestyle, with exercise and sharing the meals with loved ones mentioned. It also tells us we should eat more of fresh fruits and vegetables, and only modest amounts of fattier meats and sweets.

This book is truly a major blow to fat consumption. The recipes in this book taste as great as any fat filled food you can think of. The recipes are endless. You can go for months and never taste the same recipe. Oh! The food sensations throughout this book are amazing! Get your taste buds ready and watch your body fall back to the body you always wanted and will always have. Wow!

Why try any diet? Because, for the most part, a diet is good for you and your family. The Mediterranean Diet is another way of providing you and your family with some amazing dishes, that are not only good for you, but taste great as well. Every meal of the day is covered, along with healthy appetizers, snacks, soups, salads, mouth-watering Entrees, desserts and drinks. 76 recipes are covered in this healthy book. I will try the Cilantro Black Bean Burgers for my next meal. Can’t wait!

I must say I'm impressed with the healthiness of these Mediterranean meals. Olive oil is stressed in almost every recipe, as is the importance of always cooking with fresh produce. I've only made one meal (spanish tuna tortilla w/ roasted peppers) but I must say, it was scrumptious! I will definitely recommend the book to some of my buddies going through culinary school!

This is the perfect cookbook to refresh your repertoire and overall outlook on cooking. These European-inspired dishes will take you around the world and back with an array of tasty entrees with a twist. But you don't have to worry about your waistline. These recipes, which are light on red meat and dairy and heavy on veggies and leafy greens, follow the mantra, "Eat like your ancestors." It's no secret that those in Mediterranean countries historically have less occurrences of heart disease, so the cookbook is a great way to spice things up in the kitchen without adding a lot of unhealthy elements to your diet.

The best part you can still have your wine! Do you love garlic, onion, lemon and olive oil along with fruits and vegetables, rice and grains, chicken and fish? Then you are going to love this cookbook, it is filled stock full of delicious, healthy recipes to try. The way Mediterranean people eat is not only yummy but it is very healthy. I already love many of the foods that go into them.!

The Mediterranean Cookbook is not another “diet”. The book simply shows you how to eat outside of processed foods. The food pyramid is a little different, putting meat and sweets at the top. You can eat these foods, but very little is suggested. The book provides recipes for seafood, salads, whole grain pastas, soups, and more. It’s one of the better variety cookbooks I’ve seen.

Based on fifteen years of research and seven countries, “The Mediterranean Diet” has been linked to healthy living through good food, physical activity, and lots of time with family and friends.  The recipes in this book reflect the traditional foods of the Mediterranean region, with a food pyramid from base to top: fruits, veggies, and grains; seafood; poultry; cheese; meats and sweets.  The recipes, such as Clam Spaghetti are easy, tasty and satisfying.  And best of all, The Mediterranean Diet encourages drinking wine in moderation and many of the recipes in this book include the type of wine which pairs best with each meal.

A diet that includes wine is a great diet in my opinion. It's all about balance and using the right ingredients which are all spelled out in the tasty recipes included in this book. This book is all about eating right which is the correct way to eat. This isn't one of those fad diet books that will make you feel sick, instead it's about balance and the right foods.

I’ve been looking for new and unique recipes to cook as I’ve tried to lose 45 pounds. With The Mediterranean Diet Cookbook, I am learning the history of cuisine from the region and cooking healthy, delicious food for me and my family. One of my favorite recipes is the Tuna Tortilla with Roasted Peppers? Who knew that everyday ingredients such as canned tuna or plum tomatoes could be used to create such a delicious appetizer? With this book, you will learn these types of recipes and more!

Yes the foods are healthy and tasty but knowing the calorie/nutrition information is important in any cookbook and more important in a cookbook that speaks of healthy heart health, etc.
