What People are Saying About This
“In over 40 years of conducting clinical research, my colleagues and I have shown that a whole foods plant-based diet (naturally low in refined carbs and fat), along with meditation/yoga, exercise, and social support (love & intimacy) can reverse the progression of the most common chronic diseases. The more illnesses we study, and the more underlying biological mechanisms we examine, the more reasons we have to explain why these lifestyle changes are so powerful and how quickly they may occur. The Mindful Vegan eloquently describes why, and how.”

Most Helpful Customer Reviews
This book is a gem. As she has done in her previous books, Lani invites the reader to join her in self-discovery and growth. While much of the book focuses on mindfulness in relation to eating and personal health, it is about much more than that. The concept of mindfulness can be applied to any aspect of life. The 30-day plan provided is easy to use and follow, and builds gradually. Unlike so many plans which can seem overwhelming, the approach in The Mindful Vegan is like a gentle nudge, starting with just one minute and gradually building to a practice that is sustainable. The additional resource of audio guides which compliment each day’s lesson is an outstanding feature the author has developed. The information and experiences Lani shares with the reader, along with the exceptional 30-day meditation and personal growth plan, provide excellent tools to bring balance to one’s life.
At first glance, this looks like the stereotypical "super liberal vegan book with meditation, etc etc", but BOY does this book fit its niche well! I'm not a vegan, nor can I ever be so long as cheese continues to exist, but the meditation and mood aspects are things I took to heart pretty readily. There's even a section about stress and anxiety and how mindful eating can help curb it to a degree (HELLO to both!). Being lactose intolerant has forcefully opened my mind to more vegan options, and both the enchilada and chocolate mousse recipes call to me. Being more environmentally conscious about your food choices is not necessarily only a thing vegans do, so I suggest that anyone pick this up, even just to give it a go. Lani Muelrath really shows her expertise, and she's more than worth a listen.
