The Mystery of the Shemitah further shows just because an ideal or event from the Old Testament is represented, does not mean it's necessarily to be thrown away. God's ways are not our ways and we would be foolish to believe that we have it all figured out. After all, the first sin dealt with wanting to have more knowledge from the Tree of Good and Evil. The Lord is at work and holds "everything together" so much more than we could ever know. It's too bad many believers in Yeshua do not want to have anything to do with the Lord's chosen people or the "Hebrew" origin of the Scriptures. Jonathan Cahn is a blessing!

I really enjoyed reading this book, but wish I had read the Harbinger first. I have always wanted to know about the Jewish faith and the meanings of the words that we never hear about any where else. I sure hope he has more books coming soon. So read both books. You won't be disappointed, believe me!

This book is packed with factual information, that is easy to follow. He doesn't make assumptions nor does he attempt to predict events/dates. Just gives you the facts and lets them speak for themselves. A must read for any true Christian.

If you have read this author's book, The Harbinger, and was fascinated with the connections he has made of historical events, then you will also be captivated by The Mystery of the Shemitah. "The Harbinger contains fourteen (14) major revelations or mysteries. One of these revelations is that of the Shemitah." In it, Jonathan Cahn touches on the impact of the Shemitah, what it is, and why it is important, in only one chapter. This book, then, expands on that chapter and fully reveals why The Shemitah is relevant for Christians of today. Rabbi Jonathan Cahn explains the concept of The Shemitah in an organized, concise manner. He has parsed his book into 7 parts and an epilogue. In Part I, he explains the 3,000 years-old background to the Shemitah's origin. Part II introduces five keys to help explain precisely what The Shemitah is and its implications. This includes historical events that demonstrate how the Shemitah was manifested in the past and how it is manifested in the present. In Part III, he continues to demonstrate how the phenomenon works through cataclysms. He explains the precision of the modern stock market crashes and how each one intercepts the Shemitah right down to the day. The precise timing of these events may surprise you. Part IV focuses specifically on the years after the event on 9/11. The mysterious phenomenon of the Shemitah still holds to the ancient pattern. Part V informs us how towers are significant to the Shemitah both in the past and the present. Part VI studies the relationship between the rise and fall of nations and empires, while examining the period of time between 1916 and 1945. Some very curious patterns all over the world are the focus of the author's attention. Finally, Part VII discusses future ramifications of the mystery of the Shemitah. If the patterns mentioned all throughout the book hold, his explanations what readers should expect to see in the future will help us prepare ourselves. One note: Rabbi Cahn emphatically warns us against setting dates for future events. God is a god of order and regularity. He created these templates and patterns for our benefit. He is also a God of mercy. Many Shemitahs have come and gone without any significant tie to world events or cataclysms. He does sometimes stay His hand while He waits for us to respond to Him. Like The Harbinger, this book has been written with the ordinary person in mind. It is not a theological thesis or debate. It is simply an observation of events that are fairly easy to find anywhere. We could pull these events off the internet, from history books, encyclopedias, the newspapers and periodicals, in libraries. None of the information has been hidden. Anyone can argue about the patterns if they like. I'm sure many do already. Observing patterns, in my opinion, is a matter of perception; perception is often a by-product of our worldview. I choose to leave arguments behind and accept Jonathan Cahn's viewpoint at face value. What I see after reading both The Harbinger and The Mystery of the Shemitah is God's "writing on the wall." He loves us enough to provide warnings that there are consequences to our thoughts and actions both as individuals and as a nation. As I was reading this book I realized it would be very easy to get caught up in the details of the book and bypass the main messages. I also realized that each of the sections could also be a book in its own right. The author has purposely given us a general overview, hitting on the important points rather than a thorough critique. Besides warning us, what other message could there be in this book? I think it's a decisive statement that God views us as His children, His beloved sons and daughters. "Like any good parent, then, God rears his offspring for virtue and fosters character in his sons through suffering."--Zack Eswine. The times ahead may be tough, but we have assurance that God loves us intensely. I highly recommend reading this book. It will make you think.  Disclosure of Material Connection: I received a complimentary review copy of this commentary from Charisma House Book Group through their blogger program. THE MYSTERY OF THE SHEMITAH The 3000-year-old mystery that holds the secret of America's future and the world's future ..... and your future. By Jonathan Cahn The Shemitah, the Sabbath year, also called the sabbatical year is the seventh year of the seven-year agricultural cycle mandated by the Torah for the Land of Israel. What does this have to do with us today? If you have not read the authors other book, the Harbinger, I would suggest you get a copy. It is a comparison of the judgment of Israel in the year of 586 BC and the United States today. Jonathan gives evidence to things that took place over the years that are more than coincidences that they only can be from the Hand of God. He offers a list of things that have taken place and how they connect with the Shemitah years. He writes able the falling away from God by the United States and how this is connected with what has and is taking place. I thought the information he spoke about in the Harbinger was interesting, but tie it in with this book, the Shemitah, and you get a new way of looking at our history. A quote from the back cover; "The book you can't afford NOT to read. It is already affecting your life....And it WILL affect your future!" Read the book, thinks about what you the information and draw your own conclusion. I think, you will see why things have to change in the United States. The opinion expressed here is my personal opinion. I purchased this book and wanted to inform the readers of my blog what I thought of this book.

This book will confirm that God is still on His Throne and trying to get America's attention. Like it or not, the facts speak for themselves and Jonathan Cahn challenges us and the rest of the world to respond to our Creator. The Bible clearly states that there are biblical times and seasons, established by God for His purposes. Repentance is the key to revival, so today, if you hear His voice, harden not your heart, because the time is short. From The Harbinger to the Isaiah 9:10 Judgement, read this book and respond to God today!

starting in September 2014 America will once again fall into judgment just as has happened in the years before. the same dates the same losses the same judgment's. only this time you have the prophetic codes in place...only this time you have 8 events in the heavens with the sun and the moon and these events fall on Israel feast no time in history has such an alignment of biblical dates and events been at the same conjecture of time as today September 2014/September 2015...the harbingers (9) were a true word from gods grace. this book is a divine grace warning to those who will it today, read it today, act on it today...god loves you, he is calling, he is calling, he is calling...this reviewer has been in revelation studies for 43 years, cant receive a better word for todays events. !buy this book. b&n has a very large stock in stores, but be quick, they will run out fast as events unfold this year...

Wow! I don't know how else to say it. As a Christian, my heart breaks each and every day as I see our nation drifting further from the foundation upon which we were built. I see intolerance for opposing viewpoints growing in the face of the push for tolerance. I see the church being pushed aside as irrelevant to our lives today. It has become acceptable to belittle the beliefs of Christians, to push God out of every aspect of public life. And yet, where has it left our nation? Is our nation stronger? Is it better? Are we more unified? On the contrary, our nation is divided. Our foundation is shaky. Our future is questionable. What has caused our instability? Is it possible that we have received a warning from the Almighty God? Was the favor we have experienced over the past 250 years from above? Are we now in danger of experiencing judgment and even collapse because we have turned our backs on God? In this book, Jonathan Cahn offers an eye-opening, mind-boggling call for repentance to our nation. He walks through a little known Jewish call from God to show how blessings and curses fall upon the nation. He shows with great detail how many of the greatest economic and financial down-turns correspond to the Shemitah. He even links the events of September 11, 2001, with exact precision. Is it possible that the Almighty is going to allow judgment to fall on America? Has he issued a warning--a call to repentance? Is it too late? I highly encourage you to pick up a copy of The Mystery of the Shemitah today! Read it. Take the message to heart. Heed the call to repentance.

This book lays out the history of events which have taken place in Shemitah years.  Having said that, God is God and He is in no way obligated to act in the same way, ever,  However, reading this history of past events will enable the reader to prepare in case He chooses to continue the cycle.  Every church should read this book.

For those who would follow, Rabbi Cahn explains in modern terms about the Law of Moses and the sabbath year. This is a wonderful book, which explains God's plan for America. This book pushes your faith and thoughts past the normal and into a realm where faith still makes your skin tingle! Well written and very well studied! I would recommend this to anyone willing to learn truth and see the miracles working in society. This book is one of a few which I can say has given me strength to study on and learn more, bringing new depths of faith that I have ever known.

This book explains what is happening to the United States and the World using the prophecy of the Bible. It is the most interesting book I have ever read.

After reading the Harbinger by J. Cahn I wanted to read his follow up book of the Mystery of the Shemitah. I found this book to be very important as it adds to points that he made in the first book. If the pattern he found in the first book continues, the year 2015 will be very important to the United States and its people as it will receive judgement from the Creator. Someone like Cahn needed to write this book since his backgournd was helpful for him to see the relationships of events that he lays out. The documetation is compelling and I believe conservative in making forecasts of what may happen. He gives hope that the Shemitah can be a blessing if we turn to the Lord, but a curse if we ignore the warning. While the main focus is on the United States he does show that the Shemitah does affect the whole world.

In about another year, The Almighty God will have the attention of the whole world just as he did with 9/11. Only this time, it will be on a much, much, much greater scale. May Almighty God help the non-believers, at least all those willing to turn from their unbelieving ways when presented with unrefutable truth. The Mystery of the Shemitah is the truth that we see unfolding right before our eyes everyday. Blessed are those who have eyes to see and ears to hear because everybody doesn't have eyes to see and/or ears to hear.

Although the author has an annoying tendency to unnecessarily repeat himself, the message being delivered is well worth the frustration of plowing through the litany of reiterations. Here we are given a guide to understanding, an exploration of early Biblical teaching, a plea to heed the warnings, a call to repentance . . . this should be required reading for everyone. Highly recommended.

Author Cahn writes with authority, backing his analysis with solid Biblical research. Excellent extension of the chapter in The Harbinger that gives one a complete understanding of how the shemitah is affecting us today. Excellent read.
