The king's wife loved flowers, but she had no land to grow them. There was a peasant's vineyard adjoining the king's house. She thought she should buy this land and make a flower garden. The king offered the farmer profitable terms. But the peasant did not behave in the way the royal couple expected him to. In the clash of interests, evil triumphed, and the story ended tragically. The narrative uses the motifs of the Biblical legend of the Naboth vineyard.
