Such a touching story! With her powerful voice, Wendy S. Marcus shared with us a journey to finding happiness again after a horrible heartbreak. There's deep sadness, unbelievable joy and a sexy hot connection to take our breath away as we share Krissy's journey. Really couldn't put this book down! As a young adult, Krissy Peniglatt promised her best friend that if he didn't make it back from his Army stint overseas, that she would make sure his legacy continued on by having his baby via IVF. When the unthinkable happened and Jarrod didn't make it home, Krissy worked hard to get herself established in a stable career and make sure she was mature enough to handle being a single mother, and then she kept her promise to Jarrod. Jarrod left instructions that he wanted his other best friend, Spencer Penn, to be his baby's godfather. Once upon a time they were all great friends, until Spencer took a stance of disliking Krissy and drifting away. Now when she comes to his door with a letter from his old friend, he can't turn her away no matter how he feels. As he sets out to honor Jarrod's wishes and help her through the end of her pregnancy, will he be able to convince her that he really doesn't dislike the new her that she's become ... and in reality, would love to be her baby daddy??

Heart warming, heart-wrenching. A simply perfect and wonderful story. Lordy. The Nurse’s Newborn Gift needs to come with a pack of tissues and a warning that tears will flow. From the blurb, I knew going in this was going to be an emotional story, I just wasn't expecting it to bring on the waterworks so many times or with such intensity. I often wonder about book titles. Sometimes they really don't fit the book. After reading this story, I completely understand the title and what it truly means. The Nurse’s Newborn Gift started years ago, when a nineteen-year-old Krissy Peniglatt promised her best friend, Jarrod that if he didn’t make it back from his tour of duty in the Middle East she would have his child. Krissy made the promise never believing Jarrod would be killed in action only two short years later. It has taken Krissy some time to get her life together and feel she’s ready to tackle motherhood on her own. She just didn’t expect Jarrod to request his other best friend, Spencer be the God-father. Spencer Penn has always been the smart, safe guy. He’s a thinker and likes to always have his ducks in a row. Once friends with Krissy, he now blames her for the death of his best friend. The last thing Spencer ever expected was to have Krissy show up out of the blue, telling him she’s carrying Jarrod’s baby. The Nurse’s Newborn Gift takes readers on a wonderful, bittersweet, heartwarming, heart-wrenching journey of forgiveness, friendship, and love. Wendy S. Marcus is one of my favorite authors, but this book with all of its tenderness and heart blows the rest of her books away. I loved watching Spencer step up and be a father to his best friend’s baby, truly getting into the role of expectant/new father. Krissy shows real courage choosing to fulfill a promise and attempting to take on motherhood single- handedly. Just when you think Wendy couldn’t possibly put any more emotion into the book, think again. While I haven't read all of Wendy's books, the ones I have read have been perfect. If you haven't read her before, you are truly missing out. **Received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest unbiased opinion.**

What an amazing story! The Nurse's Newborn Gift by Wendy S Marcus was unlike any other story I have ever read. The plot was unique and fantastic. Marcus takes us on an interesting journey with a new mother giving the gift of life to people that have felt so much pain and loss. In the process a romance is explored that started many years ago but was never given the chance to fully play out. It's a refreshing read that is different from so many typical romance books and I found myself turning pages as fast as I could. We met Krissy as sister to Kira in The Doctor She Always Dreamed Of but we didn't get to see her true self - just who she was through Kira. In this story we meet a completely different side to Krissy. We also meet Spencer in and boy did I dislike him at first. He was mean and judgmental and I didn't have a lot of patience for him. He slowly started to grow on me, however; as I saw how much he cared for Krissy and learned why his emotions got the best of him. I could even relate at times. Marcus does an amazing job of engaging the reader through the characters' emotions. I felt Krissy's emotions - her fear at the thought of giving birth; the defeat and sadness when others didn't believe in her; the hope when she found true love; and the pure joy of being a new mom. The intimate scenes are so well done with the right amount of show and tell that the reader feels like they are living it out with them. The Nurse's Newborn Gift is a heart warming, sexy, emotional romance that left me sighing and wanting more. The ending and epilogue are absolutely a perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I highly recommend you give it a read. You will love it.

LOVED it!! This is a powerfully emotional story that had my attention from the very first page! As an 18 year old Krissy Peniglatt made a promise to Jared, her best friend, that if anything happened to him she would do the ultimate favor for him. Now 26 Krissy is ready to settle down and the time has come to keep that promise. The favor - have his child. Make his parents grandparents. And the only bad it with Spencer Penn as the child's godfather. The problem with that - Spencer Penn hates her and blames her for Jared joining the Marines and getting killed in action. The thing is, Jared may have been smarter than either of these two. The more time they spend together, the more drawn to each other they are. Will they be able to put the past behind them and move forward??? You definitely want to grab a copy of this book and find out. I highly recommend it.
