It's one island of many that are struggling to stay above water after two additional moons joined the atmosphere. Which caused the tides to rise at rapid rates.
Just like everyone else on Cero, Chase has been trying his hardest to survive. Life certainly hasn't been easy on him, but he's finally settled into a rhythm that works for him and his boat. Or at least he had until something he could have never expected appears and interrupts his flow, a merman.
