The Pope's Boat: a River Rat on Lake Superior

A Mississippi Riverboat Pilot is taught to sail by the Pope himself, Geoff Pope. Geoff was a larger than life figure who as a young man had canoed across the entire North American continent from New York City to Nome, Alaska and later ran a sailing school on Lake Superior aboard a wooden square-rigger named the Sheila Yeates.
