The battle is real.

As brothers, Xavier and Evan are used to battling each other. But now they’re discovering that there is a much bigger battle going on all around them. And it’s their turn to fight. The Prince Warriors is the first book in Priscilla Shirer’s epic new series that brings to life the invisible struggle ensuing in the spiritual realm. Xavier, Evan, and their friends have typical lives until they enter a mysterious land called Ahoratos. There they meet their guide, Ruwach, who offers wisdom and direction as the kids’ initial adventure begins—an adventure filled with armor and danger and a very real enemy.

Written by New York Times Best-Selling author Priscilla Shirer, The Prince Warriors series was created for middle-grade readers and will include the fiction trilogy as well as Unseen: The 365 Prince Warriors Devotional and the Unseen app.

About the Author

Priscilla Shirer is a homemade cinnamon-roll baker, Bible teacher, and bestselling author who didn’t know her books (The Resolution For Women and Fervent) were on The New York Times Best Seller list until somebody else told her. Because who has time to check such things while raising three rapidly growing sons? When she and Jerry, her husband of sixteen years, are not busy leading Going Beyond Ministries, they spend most of their time cleaning up after and trying to satisfy the appetites of these guys. And that is what first drove Priscilla to dream up this fictional story about the very un-fictional topic of spiritual warfare—to help raise up a new generation of Prince Warriors under her roof. And under yours.
Gina Detwiler was planning to be a teacher but switched to writing so she wouldn’t have to get up so early in the morning. She’s written a couple of books in various genres (Avalon and Hammer of God, under the name Gina Miani) and dramas published by Lillenas and DramaMinistry, but she prefers writing (and reading) books for young people. She lives in Buffalo, New York, where it snows a lot, with her husband and three beautiful daughters. She is honored and grateful to be able to work with Priscilla on The Prince Warriors.

The battle is real and this book is a great encouragement to read about it. The book draws you into the characters and situations that they face and it keeps you reading as they face things that are sometimes scary and sometimes funny. This book is very imaginative, creative, and inspiring. If you are looking for a great chapter book read on the Spiritual war around us and the need for putting on the Armor of God, I recommend this one. We are looking forward to reading more in this series. We received a copy of this book in exchange for our honest review.

The Prince Warriors opens with brothers Xavier and Evan being typical brothers, which means sibling rivalry on steroids. There is an age gap and personality difference in the two that makes them sometimes appear to be like oil and water. Their conflicts are an ongoing thing until one day they are mysteriously transported into the unseen world. There they must learn to not only work together but fight side-by-side using the armor that they have been equipped with. This novel is a must read for middle-grade boys (and girls too!). It is a fast-paced epic saga that captures the adventurous essence of boys while subtly teaching the importance of fighting the true enemy. I enjoyed the overall story. I found it entertaining and even downright funny at times. (I loved the momma!) But what I appreciated the most was the spiritual focus of putting on the full armor of God to fight the ultimate battle. So many times we get caught up in fighting with those that aren't really our enemy. We see our kids in constant battles with each other. We see fellow Christians battling it out over doctrinal differences. All the while there is a more important battle being waged in the unseen realm that truly is life and death. The Prince Warriors uses those very facts to remind the reader of the importance of standing strong. I would recommend this to any family that has boys. It is written to appeal to their need to be warriors. I do think that adventurous girls would enjoy it as well. I did. I think it would be a wonderful book to read aloud as a family. It would be entertaining and also teach a very valuable life lesson. That's a win-win. I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

If you or your kiddos are looking for a great read this summer, look no further. Priscilla Shirer's "The Prince Warriors" will keep everyone on the edge of their seats with intriguing adventures as brothers Xavier and Evan, along with their friends and unexpected characters, go on an amazing journey! The Prince Warriors is the best new christian children series since C. S. Lewis' Adventures of Narnia. The next book, Unseen Invasion, will be available in October 2016. Priscilla Shirer has also written a corresponding devotion, Unseen: The Prince Warriors 365 Devotional. I truly enjoyed The Prince Warriors and recommend it for kids ages 9 and up. I look forward to the next book, Unseen Invasion.

I haven't yet read this book, but I did let my son who is eleven read it. He was so excited from the very first chapter. He finished it in two to three days and was eagerly asking when the next book in the series was coming out. He was quite saddened to know it wouldn't be until fall. He also was ready to look up the website for the PrinceWarriors book and read all the information available which includes secret insights and other awesome things. He proceeded to give me a chapter by chapter breakdown of the story when I asked him to summarize the book for him, so I cannot include that here or it would be and extremely long review. What I can share is that he said this was the "best book he has read so far" and he reads alot! He did share that the book was about some kids that think they live in the real world only to find out their world is just another reality and they have a chance to actually experience the real world. He told me there are things in the book that have spiritual connections to the Bible. He was able to discern those points of interest. He also loved the armor. He kept saying he wanted one like that! So as you can see the book is a huge hit!! And we are breathlessly (oh yeah not breathlessly, pending passing out) awaiting the next book. I cannot wait to read it myself as he has now totally peaked my curiosity! Knowing what I know about Priscilla Shirer and her books (some of which I have read myself) I am sure this is one book you could not go wrong getting. I was blessed with this book by B&H Publishing Group in exchange for my honest opinion.
