Orphaned as a child, Adele of Berron found herself betrothed to a stranger and hidden from the outside world until the day of her marriage. Forced to leave her home and those who have cared for her since infancy, Adele is thrust into the adventure of her life.
Rafe of Valrek, her companion through the dangerous web of intrigue she faces, has been promised to Adele since the battle for Calis destroyed both of their lives. His reckless decision to conceal his identity from her may destroy all he holds dear. Or maybe in each other they will find the ally neither ever dreamed existed.

About the Author

Hi everyone!

My name is Dee Dee, I'm twenty eight and I live in a beautiful part of Devon, England, with my family.

That introduction made me feel a little bit like I was on Blind Date!!!

As our house is in the countryside we have some unusual neighbours including chickens, ducks, geese, pheasants, a cat (that adopted us when we moved in!!!) and some koi. I also have a very long suffering younger sister, Jingle, who is a brilliant guitar player. She keeps me supplied with coffee and brownies, generally making sure that the Chant household doesn't grind to a halt.

I really hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I enjoy writing them.
I love reading and have a kindle, I enjoy almost every genre; if there is adventure and romance I'll be there with coffee and a brownie! I also like to cook and wear impractical high heels! You may also have noticed that I have a horrible addiction to exclamation marks!!!

This is a nice story; full of treachery and intrigue but there's not much in the way of romance! In fast, there's hardly any interaction between the lead characters. Again, the story is nice....... BUT THERE'S NOTHING ROMANTIC ABOUT IT. Meh!

Rafe and Adele's story is book one of a series. Honor, tragedy, and turmoil make for a good read. The love that is found in what was perceived as duty is sweet. 263 pages

I really enjoyed this book. It kept em entertained me and kept me on edge. I loved DeeDee 's writing. She is from England. I love to read books about that country back in the 1800's and even before that. I love Historical Romances and anything Historical. It is like a History of their bad and good times and Ladies and Gentlemen.

I enjoyed this book because it kept my interest and I didn't want to put it down. I also liked the main characters. I would love to have read more about the two main characters' ongoing relationship.
