By 2052 citizens of the U.S.A. live in fear of dishonest government and extremist groups. Seeking escape, Philip Russell, a young cognitive scientist, takes a job with the mysterious Pystead Group headquartered on Nevis Island in the West Indies. Philip meets a local tourist, Samantha Moody, and an artist, Janice Germaine, having her own ties to The Pystead Group. During orientation to the company, the recruits are told the U.N. is an antagonist trying to identify Pystead's scientists and deter technological development. Soon, on the streets of Nevis, Philip survives encounters with his company's enemies through resourceful use of Pystead's high-tech guard drones. On Pystead's peaceful campus, Philip pursues romantic relationships with Samantha and Janice, both women drawing out his philosophical reflections. Within weeks, however, the Pystead community's plight becomes dire and their advanced technologies are gradually revealed. Those who join the crew to escape the U.N.'s clutches must accept the risks and unknowns of Pystead's elaborate Plan B.

About the Author

James Pryor has worked as a professional electrical engineer, and served in the USAF as an officer and classroom instructor at the Aerospace Research Pilot School. His world view has been influenced by a diverse set of friends and colleagues. To inform his natural curiosity, Pryor has traveled, read, and taken continuing education courses ranging from child development to cultural, historical, and scientific topics. Pryor has lived and worked in Georgia, Virginia, California, Mississippi, Texas, Florida, and Maryland. He currently lives with his wife in Silver Spring, Maryland.
