The Rebel by Victoria Purman

Two people, who regret their missed chance, just might get another...

Sexy Australian pro surfer Cooper Malone lives his dreams on beaches all over the world. While surfing is his passion, he can't quite suppress the longing for a permanent home with the one woman he let slip away.

World traveler Maggie MacLean first laid eyes on Cooper in a crowded bar on the island resort of Bali six years ago. The sparks and sizzle nearly scorched her bikini, but she never had a chance to explore that intense attraction. Later, when Maggie's pregnant by a man who wants nothing to do with their child, she puts her passport away and heads home to California to be the best mom she can be.

But when a possible career ending injury sidelines Cooper from his beloved waves, he moves in with the one friend he's been able to count on. Maggie and Cooper have ignored the burn of attraction for six years. Maggie's not willing to risk their friendship or her son's heartbreak when Cooper inevitably leaves to compete, but what if this time Cooper stays and Maggie allows their second chance at love to flame?

Book three of the Malone brothers is about Cooper, a professional surfer who lives in California... A blown out knee ends his career and althoug he has planned for his future he wanted to go out on his own terms... Maybe somebody else told the story here but I won't be a spoiler because this is a pretty original and very cool story on a number of fronts... Again, a complete story in about 140 Nook pages... Really enjoyed these three books...

I liked this book and how it added to the series. We learn more about bad boy, sexy surfer Cooper Malone and his best friend Maggie Mac. Maggie met Cooper years before she had her son Evan. After Cooper is hurt, Maggie and Evan take him in and nurse him back to health. I enjoyed the friend to lover plot and thought Cooper and Maggie were a great pair. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This story has so much light, love, joy, and new chances in life, it is sweet, adorable, and sexy, and left me beaming with a smile. Maggie and Cooper has so much love between them, the affection and friendship they have invested on for the past five years, is something to be treasured. The chemistry, connection, attraction, it's all there, in abundance. They are natural together, with trust, loyalty, and protectiveness between them. Evan, Maggie's son, is too cute for words. His relationship with Cooper is admirable, the way Cooper has been part of their lives ever since Evan was born, being the constant, role model, solid in Evan's life, to take the responsibility his father never took. I loved how the relationship between them evolved, how the feelings they have for each other came to light, without too much drama and angst, they accepted and embraced the new possibilities they have in life. There's so much to swoon over in this story, so much to feel good about, and smile about. It is delightful, charming and sexy story, light on tragedy and conflict, and heavy on all the good things in life, and in that sense a true feel good story ~ Five Spoons!

Two Great Characters, One Great Story! Cooper Malone found surfing at a young age and has made a successful career out of his love for the waves. Six years ago, he and a friend met two girls in a bar in Bali. One caught his eye, but he had to step aside when his friend laid claim to her. Maggie Maclean wasn't happy unless she was traveling, living for the next adventure. When she walked into the bar in Bali, she was drawn to Cooper, but ended up with his friend. When she found out she was pregnant, she went home for a new adventure, being a single Mom. When his friend wanted nothing to do with fatherhood, Cooper stepped in to be Maggie's friend and support, doting on Evan. Maggie buried her feelings for Cooper, happy to have his friendship and support when he was in town. When Cooper ends up in the hospital with what could be a career-ending injury, she realizes he can't be alone, and takes the opportunity to take care of him, for once. In her house, Cooper finds the home he has always wanted. As their relationship evolves, Maggie and Cooper have to decide if this could be forever. I love these two characters. They built a solid friendship based on honesty and trust, neither letting the thought of attraction cross their mind. Cooper is such a good guy, how many would step in to provide a male figure for another man's child without a thought? Maggie, is a strong woman, who is determined to make the best possible life for her son. This is a well-written story with characters that have depth. The are real people and work well together. The author gives the reader a real understanding of the characters, their feelings, and their relationship. A novella, it is paced well, and I did not want to put it down. I both laughed and cried at the interactions. This the third in the series, but it can easily stand alone. *I received an Advanced Reader's Copy from the Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Cooper Malone is a professional surfer who gets to travel the world doing what he loves. Maggie Maclean is a single mom doing the best she can to raise her son. The two have been friends for years while keeping there feelings about one another to themselves. After Cooper has knee surgery Maggie takes him home to take care of him. But will they remain just friends? This book had me crying and laughing and left me completely happy!

I loved this story of Maggie, single mom and good friend Cooper, pro surfer. A friends to lovers story that will have you shedding happy tears, throughout the story. Evan, Maggie's little boy just stole my heart, so cute. Cooper and Maggie met six years ago, but with a missed opportunity, she hooks up with his friend and become pregnant. Copper becomes the friend and father to Evan, that the other man never did. Injured, Cooper is staying at Maggie's recovering from an accident, when the they decide to take their friendship up a level, but both are afraid it will ruin what they have. This is a well written book, that will leave you wanting more. Very well developed likable characters, that you will fall in love with too. I highly recommend this book ! I received this book from netgallley for an honest review.

Maggie is a single mom with a little boy named Evan. Cooper was a professional surfer, Maggie's friend, and too stubborn to listen to the doctors so he gets himself hurt again. Maggie is there to step in and help take care of him while he recouperates, feeling that she is just paying him back for everything he has done for her and Evan the past several years. This was a sweet story. I loved how Maggie called out Cooper when he was being stubborn about something. Cooper was great with Evan. I really just loved everything about this story.

Classic friends-to-lovers story. An excellent finale to the Millionaire Malones series. Great humor as well - this one had me laughing out loud a couple of times.

This is a superb good friends to lovers story with brilliant characters, plenty of history and a potential HEA together. The author has the magic recipe for ensuring her stories have just the right mix of chemistry, passion, angst, turmoil and excitement to make this a story that keeps you rooting for the couple right to the very last page. The characters are well developed, believable and easy to empathise with - even little Evan! A thoroughly entertaining read that I have no hesitation in highly recommending to anyone looking to escape into a great book. Six years ago pro surfer Cooper Malone first met Maggie MacLean in a crowded Bali bar. Unfortunately his surfer buddy, Vance, picked her up and left Cooper with Maggie’s friend. As a result of that encounter, Maggie ended up pregnant with Vance’s child - well, his ex-friend because, unlike Cooper, Vance didn’t want to have anything to do with Maggie or their child. Cooper, however, kept in touch with Maggie, buying a home near to her and visiting regularly between surfing competitions. Maggie and Cooper are now best friends, always there for each other in times of need and Maggie’s son, Evan, looks up to him as a fantastic male role model in his life. Now Cooper has a serious knee injury and Maggie is taking him to her home to look after. The two have ignored their attraction to each other for six years but will their friendship now have the opportunity to grow into something more? Will Cooper’s injury mean he’ll be leaving again or staying for good? This is the story of the romance for the third millionaire Mallone brother but you don’t have to have read them to appreciate this one. Having said that, I have read and thoroughly enjoyed all three books! The earlier two books in the series are ‘The Millionaire’ and ‘The CEO’ both of which I have previously read and reviewed. Thanks to the authors, publisher and NetGalley, too for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Rebel is a heartwarming story of two long time friends who become much more. I enjoyed the main characters, Maggie Maclean and Cooper Malone, and Maggie's small son, Evan, was adorable. The romance between Maggie and Cooper was tender, yet the two had plenty of chemistry. I loved reading about Cooper's relationship and interactions with Evan. This was a very sweet and enjoyable romance. Maggie Maclean's footloose existence ended when she discovered she was going to have a child. Since that time, she has led a very settled and responsible life, always putting her young son first. Cooper Malone has been her friend through all of those years, and Maggie has never let on that she wishes he could be more. Cooper, a professional surfer, has suffered an injury that has a strong possibility of being career ending. When released from the hospital, he goes home with Maggie to recuperate. Spending so much time in close quarters brings the feelings that both Maggie and Cooper have been trying to repress to the forefront. They have to decide whether to move forward as the friends they have been, or as more. I enjoyed this book and will be reading more by the author. I liked the characters and cared about what happened to them. The storyline kept me interested and I was happy with the way everything was resolved. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a copy of the book in return for an honest review.

Loved this story! A good friends to lovers story always gets me and this is a good one. Adored Maggie and Cooper and Evan is about the cutest kid ever! Cooper first saw Maggie 6 years ago but before he could make his move his friend approached her and that was that! When an unexpected pregnancy happens and his now ex friend runs for the hills, Cooper steps in as friend and protector and they've stayed close. Now he's injured and staying with Maggie and Evan while he recuperates. Things get spicy fast but are they willing to risk their friendship for what might be more?? And what happens when he has to leave again? This is definitely a book I recommend to everyone!

Steamy hot. And, I’m not talking about the California sun. Single mother Maggie MacLean and Australian pro surfer Cooper Malone are very close friends. After Cooper’s friend Vance gets Maggie pregnant and then doesn’t want anything to do with her, Cooper steps in. He doesn’t want to be tied down to a family since he spends his life searching for wave after wave. But he can be there for Maggie and Evan when he is in town. What is created is an intense friendship where they can share anything with each other. When Copper is injured in a surfing accident, Maggie insists he stay at her house while he recuperates. Will living together hurt their friendship or will it bring them even closer than they ever thought possible? This story had the right amount of passion and excitement to keep me interested until the very end. Cooper and Maggie had intense chemistry. I was so glad when they finally gave in to their feelings toward each other.
