I enjoyed M.J. Evans' earlier books in this series, so I expected to like this one and was not disappointed.  The book begins with Nick and Bethany, and their respective unicorns and other legion members, assisting horses (and other animals and humans) who are in need around the Earth. As expected by the teaser on the back cover, however, a new peril arrives when Hasbadana abducts Nick's sisters and takes them to his dark castle. Nick and Bethany make the journey to get them back, only to be captured themselves, which was Hasbadana's plan all along. After Urijah sacrifices himself in return for their freedom, Nick determines to find a way to bring Urijah back.  The book carries the reader along from point to point, building in tension as the rescues become more and more difficult. The ending is very satisfying, and readers who already love Nick and Lazari and the other characters from the earlier books will enjoy this book as much or more than the earlier ones.
