The Shapiro Affair
Meet Chicago private detective Jeffrey Sparks. He's blunt, to-the-point, and sarcastic. A narcissist in denial, he's easily annoyed by people that don't live up to his expectations. He's also tenacious and determined, though, and solves crimes that the police either can't or won't. He helps those that justice has overlooked.

Frank Shapiro and his wife have been happily married for years and enjoy fixing up old houses together. One day, Janet Shapiro leaves for work and never comes home. After being brushed aside by the police Shapiro turns to Sparks to help find his missing wife. In his investigation, Sparks concludes that Janet is closer than he originally thought possible, and leads him to a confrontation with the criminal.

About the Author

C.E. Newsom was born in Chicago, the hometown of his fictional detective Jeffrey Sparks. People describe Sparks as blunt, to-the-point, sarcastic, and a narcissist in denial. He's also a tenacious and determined detective that helps those that justice has overlooked.

How much of Sparks is in the author? Newsom describes Sparks as having some qualities he wished he had, if he didn't care so much about what people think. Like Sparks, C.E. finds sarcasm to be the best form of humor. They both also have causes they believe in strongly, and are not hesitant to express their opinions when asked.

Sparks and C.E. both have a love of music, although Sparks is focused on Blues, while Newsom is an avid Billy Joel fan. When he's not writing, you can also find Newsom closely following the Green Bay Packers and Chicago White Sox.

While Sparks finds himself alone, with his dog Aretha as his best friend, Newsom likes to spend time with his family. A Cheesehead behind enemy lines, Newsom lives in Illinois with his wife, son, and their dog. Read more about C.E. Newsom at his website: cenewsom.com
