The Sheikh's Captive Lover (The Sharqi Sheikhs Series, #4) by Leslie North

Sheikh Amare Sharqi is about to close a deal with a business rival that will save the family oil company, when he learns of a new demand. If he’s not able to acquire a famous portrait, the deal is off. With the female subject’s captivating beauty and enticing blue eyes, Amare can see the appeal. He’s prepared to offer whatever it takes, but when he meets with the artwork’s owner, he’s surprised to see that it’s the same woman in the painting…and she wastes no time telling him it is not for sale.

It wasn’t easy growing up with a starving artist for a father, and now that he’s gone, Bree Van Ludhis has been saddled with his debts. As the heir to his works, Bree’s under pressure from her stepmother to sell so she can get half the money, but Bree would rather destroy every last painting than let that happen. So when ridiculously wealthy Sheikh Amare offers her a fortune for her father’s portrait, not even his steely determination and blatant appeal will make her change her mind.

Out of options and out of time, Amare is suddenly faced with the most difficult choice of his life…destroy his family’s business or betray Bree to get what he wants?

This book is set 8 years after the last Sharqi Sheikhs Series book, with Amare all grown up and plunged into a crisis that could rock the Sharqi family to it’s core…

Leslie North: The Sharqi Sheikh Series Book 4-The Sheikh’s Captive Lover Ms. North’s short stories about four Sharqi Sheikh Brothers of Al-Sarid has brought us to Amare Sharqi, the youngest brother. We were first introduced to Amare in book 1, The Sheikh’s Unforgettable Lover with his tutor Kim Atkins who eventually married his oldest brother, Karim Sharqi. Now, eight years later, Amare is all grown up and working in the family business. In a business deal, Amare must purchase a painting from Ms. Brianna (Bree) Van Ludhis, daughter of the deceased artist of a specific painting that is vital to the completion of the business deal. Bree is a spirited, opinionated and determined women and “nobody owns her”, especially a tall dark hansom sheikh. So, here answer over and over is “NO” she is never selling the painting. In a few pages, Ms. North gives the reader a journey with two people that find themselves exploring the chemistry and connection they feel for each other. You are treated with internal dialog that will have you laughing out loud. Such as: Bree wanted to get out of Amare’s country without him knowing. She thinks that maybe she could rent a car and drive to a neighboring country and catch a flight. Maybe there was some kind of Desert bus service like Greyhound that she could buy a ticket. Maybe she could hijack a camel and make a wild run for the border of Al-Sarid…. You will find several equally as funny statements. Of course, the challenges that both parties have seem insurmountable. Find out if Bree and Amare can find a common ground in order to find their HEA. What Didn’t Work: First, I have almost all of Ms. North’s books and there can be typo errors or the use of the wrong word or person, which pulls you out at the point in the book, which can be annoying. The reference that Bree thought her Step-monster may have poisoned her father. Since his body was cremated, no way to check. It was somewhat annoying to bring this up unless this was going farther, otherwise why bring it up. Just let him die of natural causes. Otherwise, someone got away with murder and nothing happens. Since Ms. North is a talented writer and her books are all short, it can be annoying when 1) the book just ends… no epilog, nothing. 2) The book ends anywhere from 75%-80% and the rest is advertising of her books, which is fine, and all of us want to know about her books. But a few books that are referenced have 1 or more chapters you can read. I would prefer 1) Advertise, but not have 1 or more books with chapters to read, but instead use those few pages to give a proper ending, an epilog or something. 2)Use more pages so she can advertise and give readers a chapter or two, but, use more pages to give us more dialog, epilog, ease into the ending, something. Even with some of the “what didn’t work”, I do recommend this book which is why I gave it 4 stars.

Bree goes to retrieve her father's paintings in hopes of hiding them before her stepmother finds them. Amare needs them to help with a deal for his family business. Neither of them expect to find their one love in the process. When Amare breaks Bree's trust in him he fears that he has lost her forever. Can he find a the woman he loves when she is determined not to be found? A great addition to the series with continues visits from characters that are already loved.
