My daughter loved the funny characters and cute illustrations. As a parent, I’ve found that a lot of early reader type books talk down to kids, and I appreciate that this one doesn’t.

I bought this book for my five-year-old godson, who loved the first book, The Moonlight Meeting. We had a fun time reading it together. Though he’s on the young side of the recommended age range, the quick moving plot and encounter with the snake kept him engaged. The fun facts at the end were also a lot of fun to read together!

This book is a super fun addition to the Nocturnals series. The plot is quite thrilling (a slithery showdown with a snake) and the illustrations are so adorable - it makes for a perfect balance of excitement and charm. I like that there are a few challenging words (think: "scrawny") that will help children expand their vocabulary, even as the fast-pace of the story and the funny Bismark moments will help keep their attention throughout every page. Can't wait for the next book!

I bought this book for my nephew, who loves unusual animals. We had a great time reading it together. Though he’s on the young side of the recommended age range, the quick moving plot and (spoiler alert) encounter with the snake kept him engaged. After we finished reading the book, we read the Nocturnals Fun Facts section at the back and spent the next hour talking and researching sugar gliders, blue-bellied snakes, and pangolins.
