Ethan is back home with his sisters at their combination rescue farm and B&B. Injured in the war – he was constantly in danger: plucking out the injured via helicopter drop and getting them to safety and treatment. His last mission, and the one that ended his military career ended in tragedy – and the loss of that person is the one he can’t get over. Convinced that he’s not a good influence or help for people or animals, he’s isolated himself in a small outbuilding and barely surfaces for interactions. When he’s informed that the local judge has sentenced a girl to perform community service at their farm in hopes that she will come out with a changed perspective, he’s determined to stay apart and isolated – it’s not his problem but his sister has left him in charge. Mia is a PR star on the rise: she’s hard working, determined and her client list is exclusive: she’ll take on no one she can’t believe in after researching them exhaustively. She’s currently working for the frontrunner candidate for NYC mayor, when he comes forward with a problem and a proposition for a solution. His 19 year old daughter Chloe was caught cheating on an exam, and later vandalized the professor’s car_ resulting in a court date and hours of community service in upstate NY – far away from the city. Since her father’s campaign is one of family values and sticking together, this hiccup could be devastating. He cajoles Mia into chaperoning Chloe during her service: weeks in the small B&B away from the office, the city and all she knows. The story – completely adorable! Ethan and Mia butt heads in snark and smart-comments from the start, and when Mia meets Hei Hei the Polish chicken (think extra fluffy feathers in a crown) – her first reaction is ‘eep’, soon followed by letting out al of the frustration and angst she’s feeling from being wholly out of her comfort zone, and she tells Hei Hei to “stop” and thus is the start of a never-ending love from him. A farm full of horses, with many rescues requires both a ton of work and a commitment to consistency, calmness and care. Not only do the horses need to be ‘re-acclimated’ to proper behavior and expectations, Chloe is also in need of finding a way to let go of the issues that led to her problems. Slowly from the gradual introduction of real food, carbs, hard work, praise and some serious bonding over Mia’s unfamiliarity with any movie of the Disney variety, the story is one of everyone learning to trust and open up to one another. Of course, the chemistry between Mia and Ethan is explosive – both are in so very deep before they realize it - and it’s utterly delicious. Several major revelations and changes, a few questions around Ethan’s sisters and their lives, and the realignment of expectations that lead to big changes for everyone hands out second (and often third) chances to everyone – leaving readers with a smile and desperate for the next book. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Wow, what a beautifully written book. I absolutely loved Mia’s and Ethan’s story. Mia is a strong, independent woman that doesn’t take crap from anyone. She always tells you what she thinks and can tell when someone is lying. Ethan returns home to heal and Mia and him definitely get off on the wrong foot. I loved all the other characters too, Chloe, Ophelia, and Harper. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. Do yourself a favor and grab this fantastic read.

Ethan Bishop grew up in Hudson Valley on a B & B and a horse farm and while he had a talent with horses, he felt he needed to do more. He wanted to save people and became a Special Forces paratrooper. Between missions, stateside he also worked in Hollywood as a body guard and was engaged to a movie star. But on his last mission, he was injured and the man he tried to rescue was killed. He has come home to Robin's Nest B & B, to join his sisters and recover from the physical wounds and PTSD. Interrupting his tranquility, comes Manhattan PR agent Mia Thrush, to keep an eye on her client's daughter, Chloe, who was sentenced to community service at the B & B. Mia likes nice things and hates the country. But as the two clash there is also a zing of attraction and as they spend more time with each other and Chloe they all help heal each other. I read the book in one afternoon, not able to put it down. All the characters are very enticing, the animals endearing and the story very real.

I loved this book. Enemies to Lovers is a fun book to read. Mia and Ethan do not get a long at all when they first meet. They both have an idea in their heads about what the other person is like. Though for the most part they are wrong about what they think. We get to watch these to go from enemies to lovers in the book and you fall in love with Ethan's sisters and also Chloe in this book. You want more of this small town in Upstate New York. This book was great paced, fun and heartfelt. I can't wait to read more from this small town. *I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.*

A great book about love, family, and coming home by Jennifer Probst! Mia and Ethan would never have been in the same social groups, much less fall in love. Fate is funny that way as Mia and Ethan will find out. They are complete opposites, and both of them make assumptions about the other without knowing who the other one really is. Mia is much more than the designer clothes and shoes she wears. Ethan is more than the “arrogant, egotistical, ill-mannered boar” that she labels him. I enjoyed watching these two discover each other and fall in love. I really liked the romance, but I also liked seeing Mia and Ethan discover important things about themselves. Each thought they knew what they wanted out of life, but they soon find out what they really want with each other. Probst created a great cast of secondary characters that really added a deeper level to the book. Her writing is fantastic. Her attention to detail and her descriptive writing made me fall in love with the town…add in a Lab and a crazy chicken, and I was completely enthralled with every aspect of the book. I enjoyed how Probst set her readers up for the next story in the series about Ethan’s sister, Ophelia and their childhood best friend, Kyle. She gave us just enough to know that there is quite a story there, and I can’t wait to find out what it is.

This book was a delight from beginning to end and has everything I look for in a truly spectacular read. Small town charm, family dynamics, sibling rivalry, B&B guests that are a real hoot and two main characters who mix like oil and water and drive each other crazy in a really good way. Ethan Bishop wants nothing to do with interacting with his sister’s B&B guests. He’s happy living in a run down bungalow on the property while he figures out what direction his life is going to take now that he’s no longer in the military. Mia Thrush is a highly successful city girl through and through. She’s a petite dynamo in high heels who is about to spend the entire summer living her worst nightmare. From their first encounter Ethan and Mia absolutely despise each other but where there’s smoke there’s fire and the sexual chemistry between is like white lightning in a bottle. You definitely want a front row seat so you can laugh and cry and appreciate the excellent storytelling that’s waiting for you when you open this book. I read a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.

This is the first book that I've read by Jennifer Probst & I really liked it. I will definitely continue to read her books. I loved the banter between Ethan and Mia as they progressed from enemies to lovers. Even the animals in the story were great. I especially loved the chicken named Hei Hei. I hope Ethan's sisters, Ophelia and Harper get their own stories. I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy from NetGalley.

Mia Thrush has her life in order and her ultimate goal in sight until her client pushes her to head to a horse farm to babysit his troubled teen daughter. The first person she meets is Ethan Bishop. Ethan is a former Special Force member who only came home because he was injured and had no choice. The chip on his shoulder is HUGE. He is struggling to find his way in civilian life. The minute they met I could feel the sparks. Holy cow… these two have to get together. The pull between them is just too much. It was so very much fun getting to know both Mia and Ethan. They both had to get over themselves, find what they really wanted in life, and figure out how to get there…together. I love the promise of no feelings, no commitment. From the beginning the reader knows it is a lie, there is no way either of these characters can be together and not fall for each other. The falling is the part of the story that I couldn’t get enough of. The other character that I love is Chloe. She is the client’s daughter who is doing her community service at the horse farm. I love that she is sassy, full of herself and looking for fun but not sure what kind of fun she wants to have. These are things that a teen girl embodies. She was real, she was true, and she was perfect. She worked hard, gave lip to both Ethan and Mia, and was quick with her comments on all things happening in her life and in the rest of the characters life. The Start of Something Good is a great start to a series, Stay, that is now on my must-read list. Jennifer Probst is a talented author that pulls the reader in, makes them invested in the characters, and doesn’t let them go until the last word is read.

4.5 Star Review The Start Of Something Good (Stay #1) By Jennifer Probst Having read other books from Jennifer Probst, I was excited to read book one in a new series, and oh what a story it was. The characters were strong and well developed, not only the main characters, but also the secondary characters who I hope get their own stories soon. The Start of Something Good is a well written, emotional story with hot and sizzling scenes, as well as a great deal of humour and wonderful characters. Ethan Bishop returns to the Hudson Valley, a man recuperating from his injuries and broken in spirit, to help his sisters at the family B & B and farm. Mia Thrush is a Manhattan PR agent who is staying at the B & B to keep an eye on Chloe, the daughter of one of her clients who has been sentenced to community service at the farm and the rescue horses. To be honest I wasn’t particularly keen on Mia but she did grow on me but I really liked Ethan from the start. Ethan and Mia clash from the first, but as they get to know each other, they realise how much they have in common; with attraction and passion igniting. When Mia needs to return to the city, can her relationship with Ethan withstand the distance? Or is it destined to fail? Can a city girl be happy living in the country? One click now and find out.

A sweet story between an ex-military and a PR successful women Mia. Ethan returns bitter in his hometown to help his sister at the inn and farm after leaving the army after injury. Mia comes to their farm as supervisor of his client daughter. After dislikes at first from their both sides sparks are soon flying and they start hot summer affair. Mia, I didn't like at first because I saw her like Ethan saw her and frankly all the bling and her way of clothing had also not helped me to like her. But you could see that she has a big heart and I really liked what she did toward the end and how she accepted the small town and the nature that she at first despised. Ethan was at first bitter and also not a character to love but he also changed toward the end. A funny, sweet, emotional story that is beautifully wrapped in a great read. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly.

4 - 4.5 Stars!! The Start of something Good is the first book in the Stay series!! Ethan Bishop, gets back home after his injury during a Special forces mission. More than the physical injury that ended his career with special forces, the flashes of his failed mission haunts him in his sleep.. He is back to Hudson Valley, where his family owns a B&B & horse farm.. Mia Thrush, is the owner of a successful PR firm in Manhattan. She is close to achieving her dreams when she gains a Political Client Jonathan, running for the Mayor.. Mia is strong, independent, confident and hard working woman.. When Jonathan requests her help to be the guardian for his daughter who has been sentenced to community service at a horse farm in the country side, she doesnt have a choice other than accepting it.. When Ethan meets Mia, they clash in their first meeting.. They both dislike each other strongly at first.. However, with time they get to know each other well and feel a connection!! What begins as a summer fling, turns into something they both didnt expect!! However, with Mia living in the city and Ethan at the country side, they need to work to get their HEA.. I loved Ethan.. Though he's hurt physically and lost when he gets back home, he eventually finds his way to heal with Mia!! The way they find love and heal each other was beautiful.. And the other characters... Chloe, Ethan's sisters, and Hei Hei.. I loved all of them!! I cant wait to read Ophelia's story next!!

Though instantly attracted to each other, the moment they spoke a war of words locked Ethan and Mia into heated battle, folks. This main couple are literary proof wrong first impressions can be hard to overcome. Fortunately for us and them, their nose to nose confrontations turn into passionate kisses and ultimately love. They also prove opposites can attack but still attack one another. With a writing style that always engages me, it doesn’t surprise me Jennifer Probst has started something good with this new series. I can only assume one of Ethan’s sisters will get their full story told in the next release, likely Ophelia who will reconnect with a long lost love. Title: The Start of Something Good, Series: Stay (Book 1), Jennifer Probst, Pages: 310, stand-alone but part of a series, sassy/feisty heroine, good guy hero with PTSD, wrong first impressions, slow burn, both been celibate awhile, not a couple for quite awhile, romance safe, no love triangle, no cheating, no OW/OM drama. Book 1 - The Start of Something Good Book 2 - A Brand New Ending (I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not given any payment or compensation for this review, nor is there any affiliation or relationship between this reviewer and the author/publisher/NetGalley.)

Mia is a city girl, who really dislikes the countryside and all that fresh air. Ethan has PTSD and can’t stand the city or city girls So how do they explain their attraction to each other A lovely story with an HEA

Highly entertaining, sweetly sexy romantic journey filled with disagreements, laughter, honest feelings and a sweetly thrilling passionate chemistry that is undeniable.... Ethan Bishop is a sexy, charming and wounded body and soul. He is home looking to hideaway and hopefully heal from his last mission gone horribly wrong. Mia Thrush is a driven, sassy and determined PR agent on assignment and at the farm for business not pleasure.... Loved the sparks that fly, the banter and the crazy passion was a page turner from beginning to end.

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) So I have to admit I had this in my to read pile for a little bit and I also have to admit I had let some of the previous reviews taint my willingness to read it, some of them were pretty harsh with Mia and some just didn't care for the book, well I am happy to say I read and didn't agree with those. I personally have been thinking more and more about reading books from Jennifer Probst, there were a couple of blurbs from some of her books that intrigued me yet this is her first book that I have read and I want to knock myself out I want more of her books now, I enjoyed this book. I liked Mia and understood her, I loved Ethan and also felt for him and was so happy when they got together. This book was good, it was heartwarming and I can't wait to read more of this family! Enjoy!

Once I read the first sentence I knew that this was indeed the start of something good. With sentences like this I was hooked "His soul took a breath and sighed once again full because of her" This is a wonderfully written sentence. I was blown away by the writing, it was rich, descriptive, evoked images that seemed so clear, had great character development, love, redemption, sex, loss. No one is forgotten in this book, all of the characters added something, sometimes funny ( like the senior couples!!!! aka as the Golden Girl Gone wild clubs). The story had a beautiful flow and it had well deserved HEA.

4.5 Stars! THE START OF SOMETHING GOOD, is the first book from Jennifer Probst's brand new series, STAY. This is a fun read, combined with clever banter, some emotional entanglements, and a love story that is very hot. This novel can be enjoyed as a standalone. Mia Thrush always wanted to be the public relations guru to the rich and famous. She is smart, beautiful and a rising star in the field. Mia has her hands full with her latest client, the future mayor of New York City. Unfortunately, his daughter's poor choices during college have the potential to end his candidacy, so Mia reluctantly agrees to look after her while she fulfills her community service obligation at a horse farm in upstate New York. It is there where she meets Ethan Bishop, a former Special Forces paratrooper. Ethan's damaged body and mind are slowly on the mend, as he rediscovers the joy of living on his family's farm and fixing a broken horses' spirit. At first he and Mia can't stand the site of each other, however, overtime their attraction evolves into lust and love. I truly enjoyed this book. Besides the enemies to lovers trope, there is a crazy chicken, some elderly matchmakers, and cups of delicious organic coffee that could give Starbucks some stiff competition. When Mia and Ethan finally get together, their roll in the hay is beyond steamy. In addition, Ethan's dominance in the bedroom left me panting. The next book in the series is about Ophelia, Ethan's sister, and I am truly looking forward to reading her story. LJT, Romance Junkies

THE START OF SOMETHING GOOD is the first instalment in Jennifer Probst’s contemporary, adult STAY romance series focusing on the Bishop siblings of Hudson Valley, New York. This is former Special Forces paratrooper Ethan Bishop, and Manhattan PR agent Mia Thrush’s story line. Told from dual third person perspectives (Ethan and Mia) THE START OF SOMETHING GOOD follows the acrimonious relationship between former Special Forces paratrooper Ethan Bishop, and Manhattan PR agent Mia Thrush. Mia’s latest client is running for the mayor of New York City but his rebellious, nineteen-year old daughter Chloe found herself in some legal trouble that could have reflected badly upon her father’s political campaign. Assigned mandated community service meant Chloe had to be supervised at all times by someone willing to spend the entire summer on leave. With Mia the only ‘available’ adult willing to accept the responsibility, our heroine begins a three month community service of her own at the Bishop owned B&B, and horse boarding stables. Enter Ethan Bishop, former Special Forces paratrooper, and the man with whom Mia would fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Mia and Ethan, and the potential fall-out as Mia’s time with Chloe, and thusly Ethan, comes to an end. Ethan Bishop doesn’t take too kindly to Mia Thrush-a woman he’s deemed high maintenance due to her expensive clothing and chosen profession. Too quick to judge Ethan will verbally attack our heroine at every opportunity but Mia isn’t willing to go down without a fight. Able to hold her own against a man whose own secrets are heart breaking and dark, Mia finds herself attracted to the man who had the ability to break her heart. At the outset of the relationship Ethan’s attitude towards Mia is caustic and acerbic. He is quick to judge our heroine based on appearances and career, thusly verbally insulting Mia without forethought to insult or injury. Mia never expected to come face to face with the arrogance of Ethan Bishop but as a New Yorker, she is able to give as good as she gets. The back and forth banter and jibes hides a palpable sexual attraction. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. We are introduced to Ethan’s spirited and dynamic sisters: Ophelia and Harper who own and operate the family B&B. Along the way, a group of animated, spirited and feisty seniors will add plenty of color and antics for all to enjoy. THE START OF SOMETHING GOOD is a sexy, fun enemies to lovers romance. The premise is engaging and entertaining; the characters are energetic; the romance is seductive and sassy. THE START OF SOMETHING GOOD is the start of something good.

I thought this book was fantastic! Ms. Probst's writing style seemed really smooth. The story really flowed well. She has taken a character who is severely injured inside and out and one that has something to prove to try to make up for the past destruction of her family and brings them together seamlessly. Ethan may have trauma to his body and soul, but Mia manages to soothe the beast inside him and bring him a semblance of peace that was so gratifying. Mia works so hard to keep destruction away from the clients in her PR firm, that she has lost sight of what really makes her happy--until she meets Ethan. This book had it all: snarkiness, gentleness, sexiness, drama, humor, sadness (who would have thought I'd cry over a character telling a chicken goodbye?) and romance that will bring you to your knees. Pretty sure The Start of Something Good made by heart bleed! I cannot wait for the next in the series. I'm already invested in the characters that are Ethan's sisters! Awesome writing by Ms. Probst!

Ethan returns home to the B&B and farm his sisters took over from their parents, with his body and soul broken. Mia is a PR specialist with a candidate for New York City Mayor as her major client. She ends up babysitting her client's troubled daughter while she serves her community service at a horse farm in the Hudson Valley. That is where Mia meets the ornery Ethan and even though they don't get along at all, the sparks fly between them. Ethan was just so broken that I couldn't help but feel sorry for him. And Ethan's nickname for Mia (Princess) was just so fitting, it made me laugh. The way the B&B and farm were described, it just made me want to go there and visit. This story just drew you in as the characters just seemed so real. I can't wait for the next book in this series. I received an ARC courtesy of Montlake Romance through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

I had read and enjoyed some of Jennifer’s other books, so I requested this one without even reading the synopsis. I really liked Mia and Ethan. They’re both stubborn and struggling with something and much more alike than they think. The banter and button pushing was fantastic. And their messed up meet cute turned absolute irritation made for a delicious foundation of hate to love. Ethan’s sisters were sweet and I’m guessing they’ll be getting their own books. Plot wise it was good. There was a lot of open communication and the main conflict was a summer romance with the distance of where they each lived at the end of it. Thankfully, it was all quickly resolved. I would have liked a bit more at the epilogue. I thought Mia and Ethan deserved more than the set up for the next book, but hopefully we’ll get to see them then. Overall, it was a strong start to a new series. I’m eager to read what’s next. **Huge thanks to Montlake Romance for providing the arc free of charge**

The Start of Something Good is the first book in the Stay Series by Jennifer Probst. This book follows the story of Mia and Ethan. As a former Special Forces Paratrooper and bodyguard, he’s seen his fair share of pain and drama. So, when he finally makes his way home, his wounds are far deeper than people imagine. He hides out at the family farm so he won’t have to deal with people and the town he once lived in. All is going to plan until Mia blows into his life and turns everything upside down….Being in the country for the summer is the last on her mind. But when a client needs help with his teenage daughter, she has no choice but to help. Only the farm is no place for an uptight and quick tempered Mia. She butts heads with Ethan from the moment they meet. To say they don’t hit it off would be an understatement. Their disdain for one another is completely palpable and leads to a passion that neither one of them can deny… I’m going to be totally honest with you, I didn’t really like this book in the beginning. I had a really tough time with it. I didn’t really like the characters and had a really hard time connecting with them. Mia was your total cliched city girl: snobby, stuck up and acted like she was better than everyone else. Ethan had his own share of issues and thought he had Mia pegged from the very beginning. I found him to be a bit arrogant and didn’t like his behavior towards Mia. He wouldn’t give her a chance even when she was trying to do the right thing. Now, don’t get me wrong, sometimes this behavior in characters works for me, but I think in order for it to work, I’ve got to find something in the beginning that makes me want to invest in them and sadly, it took a while for it to happen for me. I had a few times where I put this book down and honestly wasn’t sure if I was going to finish it, but I’m happy to say that I did finish and I’m glad that I stuck it out. The characters did end up winning me over. Once they got over themselves and stopped fighting, I saw the redeeming qualities in them that I was looking for. I felt their passion and pull and wanted to get to know them better. I actually really liked Chloe, the girl that Mia was looking out for. She was 19 and wasn’t perfect. She made a lot of mistakes and was sent to the farm to hopefully learn from them. I enjoyed getting to know her and there was definitely more to her than what meets the eye. Don’t get me wrong, she definitely acted immature at times, but I felt like her father didn’t see her as an adult at all. He wanted to make her life fit with his agenda and it just frustrated me to no end. Overall, I thought this book was an ok read. It was a little rough in the beginning, but won me over in the end. It is a stand-alone, enemies to lovers romance. I loved the small town feel of this story and think that there is a lot of great potential there. The old couples from the B&B were a hoot. I loved how they were up in everybody’s business and was entertained by their matchmaking skills. Even though this book wasn’t a 100% hit for me, I’m glad that I checked it out and gave it a chance. I think this series has a lot of great potential and would open to checking out more from it in the future.

I hadn't read a Jennifer Probst book in some time before picking this one up. This was the perfect book to remind me why I love her writing so much. It has all the things that make her writing great - a wonderful story that just leaves you feeling good, strong passionate characters with fiery chemistry, and a powerful romance that fills your heart with love and hope. Add in the small town feels this one has and a nice touch of humor, viola! One amazing book that will give you hours of entertainment. As a bonus this is just the start of what should be a great series. Ethan and Mia have set the bar pretty high but I'm sure Ms. Probst has more great stories and characters to come in this series. I highly recommend this book.

What a wonderful start to the new Stay series! Ethan Bishop is still healing, emotionally and physically, from a tragic accident on a Special Forces mission. He has come home and is hiding away from the world. His two sisters run the family farm and Inn. They love and support Ethan and think it will help him heal if he helps with the horses and farm. After Ethan reluctantly agrees, he is given charge of a young woman sentenced by a judge to work there instead of going to jail. Chloe is so sweet but is just as lost and broken as Ethan. Mia works for Chloe's dad and is sent there to watch over his daughter. Mia is all city girl with a successful business and not ready to spend the summer on a farm. She and Ethan butt heads from the start and make false assumptions about each other. With the help of some quirky folks staying at the Inn, the three of them form a bond that is so sweet and moving. Ethan and Mia have a strong attraction and begin a summer affair. But when the summer is over and Mia heads back to the city, will Ethan be able to let her go? I really loved Ethan, Mia, Chloe and the rest of the fun and quirky friends and family. Ethan and Mia complimented each other so well and their chemistry was off the charts. I enjoyed the family banter, along with the unconditional love and support they gave each other. This is a fun, engaging, emotional family saga, and steamy romance with so much heart! I am looking forward to reading the next book in this delightful series.

A wonderful beginning to a new series by this talented author. The story centers around Ethan Bishop, and Mia Thrush. Ethan is a former Special Forces and bodyguard, that has suffered devastating injuries not only physically and psychologically. He has returned home to the family ranch and B & B to recover and has become sort of a hermit. MIa is a PR agent , working to get her client elected to be the NYC major. She goes to the B & B for the summer with her client’s troubled daughter. Little do Mia and Chloe realize that their lives will be changed. Ethan and Mia have instant chemistry but one is a country boy suffering from panic attacks, and the other one is a career city gal. This is a touching story that is at times heartbreaking but also heartwarming. A story about how goals can change when you find “the one” if you are willing to take the chance. But it also a story about a family’s love and support. Can’t wait for the next book in this series. I was entrusted this copy by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
