This heartbreaking suspense had me constantly wondering what was going to happen next. Kyle was lucky to be alive after the horrific injuries he sustained in Afghanistan. When he finally came out of the coma and was well enough to go home, he couldn't wait to see his girlfriend, Nicole. She had promised to wait for him and love him forever. Thinking of her was the one thing that kept him going when he was at war. You can imagine how devastated he was when he got back, to find out she had gotten married and had a baby! He eventually understood that she had been told he had died so, because she was pregnant, she had no choice but to marry a man she didn't love. Big mistake. He was abusive to her and not well liked by anyone. When that man was murdered, Nicole was the prime suspect. But there were so many others who didn't like him that the suspect list was pretty long. This story follows Kyle and Nicole through many difficult situations and gave us lots of questions. Who killed Nicole's husband, who was trying to kill her and why is her mother-in-law so nasty? While I enjoyed this book there were some things that bothered me. Such as the abuse Nicole put up with from her husband and Kyle's attitude toward his PTSD. Army Rangers don't get PTSD? Pulease. I was surprised there wasn't any mention about the burn scars Kyle had. Any woman would have noticed and commented on them My rating is 3.5 stars
