About the Author

Joe Cermele started his career in outdoor journalism in 2004, covering fishing tournaments for a local magazine in his home state of New Jersey. In 2005, while attending Rider University, he became an intern at Salt Water Sportsman magazine, joining the editorial staff full time that same year after graduation. In 2008, he moved to sister publication Field & Stream, where he was named Fishing Editor in 2011. His writing appears monthly in the magazine, he blogs weekly on the magazine’s website, and also hosts and produces Field & Stream’s Hook Shots, an award-winning web-based fishing show with a punk-rock edge. Cermele has fished all over the country and abroad, but when he’s not traveling on assignment, you can find him on his boat chasing tuna and striped bass off the Jersey coast, pitching tubes to smallmouth bass on the Delaware River, or flyfishing for trout in New York’s Catskill Mountains.

When it comes to fishing, anglers typically want to get the information they need quickly -- knot tying or the common rig for bottom fishing bluegill. This book does provide the information you need quickly without the filler found in many other books of its kind. Covers a lot of areas and educates you as you read. Good investment of your time and money. This book explained in clear terms and pictures rigging and techniques that are useful and practical to the everyday fisherman. Have fished for trout but was not as familiar with bass and pan fish. Found this text very helpful. The illustrations are great and plan on keeping it around for my kids and grandkids. The chapters on where to fish and how to read structure are very helpful. The chapters on different fish and what lures they bite are also very helpful. Using the information on how to read the water and what lure to use, I selected a fishing spot and landed a bass within 5 minutes. This book would make a great addition to others you may have. This book lives up to the book description and delivers an entertaining read that is refreshingly new. I highly recommend it to all who are interested in fishing.

She padded in, scenting the air. She identifies a mouse and stalks it, keeping low to the ground. Once she's right next to it, she pounces and kills it swiftly. Burying it for safekeeping, she continues hunting.
