I like to pick one Christmas story to read at the holiday and I picked this one. Boy am I glad. This book was typical Jill Shalvis...great characters...great story....great happy ending! Willa Davis owns a pet shop and is one of the sweetest, nicest people anyone knows. So imagine her surprise when Keane Winters comes to her shop with a pink bedazzled cat carrier asking for help and doesn't even recognize her, even though he broke her heart back in high school. Keane is at his wits end. His great aunt asked him to watch her crazy, possessed cat. He tried taking her to work that didn't work out too well so now he is begging for help, even offering to pay more than normal. Keane tends to spend all of his time working and not into relationships. An occasional hookup is all he needs. What he did not expect was to be drawn to Willa and her brightness. After spending some time together, Willa starts to realize that Keane is not like the guy he was in high school. When she confronts him about actually knowing her, she finds out something that she never really knew. Her light is helping to remove his darkness in life and they start to realize that they could be good together. I just adored all of Willa's friends. They were such a hoot! I loved how protective they were of her. I really enjoyed the ride Willa and Keane went on to get to their happy ending. This story had wonderful characters, a great story and a happy ever after that will tug at your heart!

I enjoy all of Ms. Shalvis’ books, and I even have my absolute favorite hero from Lucky Harbor, but The Trouble With Mistletoe is giving that top slot a run for its money. I love the new Heartbreaker Bay series and having lived in the Bay Area for years, it is fun to read about places I’ve actually been. Jill Shalvis wrote a story that will touch your heart…at least it did mine. Willa Davis and Keane Winters have a history, one that Keane doesn’t remember of course, but both are such sweet, damaged individuals that their HEA journey will both break your heart and then make it soar. I’ve delayed writing this review because every time I try to write how much I enjoyed this story, my words fall short. Keane has become another favorite character of mine and again, I love this new Heartbreaker Bay series.

The Trouble with Mistletoe is book two in the Heartbreaker Bay series. I enjoyed book one but wound up falling in love with this novel even more. This is a perfect read for around Christmas time since it's set around that time period in the book. Even better, I think that these can be read as standalone books even with the previous novel's couple making appearances in this installment. We start off with meeting Willa Davis, she runs a successful pet shop that does a little bit of everything. She's a quirky character that I loved instantly, I mean who marries and organizes a dog wedding? Anyway, we quickly meet the potential love interest, Keane Winters, her crush from high school that shattered her heart. Hurt that he doesn't even recognize her, Willa reluctantly accepts looking after his cat and tries not to let on that her grumpy attitude towards Keane is due to their past. The duo winds up becoming friends and I could see their relationship start to blossom with every page turned. There are quite a few miscommunications which lead to bumps in the road for them and it really made the novel feel true to life since that happens in relationships. The Trouble with Mistletoe was an addicting read I didn't want to put down. I loved the characters and really enjoyed that the pet shop bits weren't just glossed over. We get face time with Willia's close friends and it just made the novel stronger and feel like you were hanging out with your buddies. I was glad to see them again from book one, and can't wait to see who's book is next in the series. I really love this novel and if you're looking for a true to life contemporary romance or one set around Christmas time I'd suggest you grab this one asap!

To summarize: I really enjoyed this book. The Christmas feel was well done and added a festive feel to the book, without it being overdone. I really liked both Willa and Keane, both were great characters. I really liked each of them as a character and I liked the together. They made for a great couple and I enjoyed reading about them. Keane seems closed off as first and is a bit of a loner and it was wonderful to see that change. Willa has a big heart, but she is afraid to fall in love. I also enjoyed seeing this great group of friends again and how they always have each others back. The new side characters in this book were fun too, I liked getting to know Rory. And the cat Pita was a such a fun addition as well. Overall this was a great read with a bit of holiday cheer sprinkled in, but above all a wonderful romance between two great characters.

I want to live in Heartbreaker Bay and wish in that magical fountain!!!! The Trouble With Mistletoe is a delightful contemporary holiday romance from Jill Shalvis. It’s the second book in Jill’s Heartbreaker Bay series set in the San Francisco Bay area, but it can easily be fully enjoyed as a stand-alone read if that is your preference. The series features a close-knit group of friends who look out for each other no matter what. In The Trouble With Mistletoe, readers get to catch up with the entire gang, but this story focuses on Willa Davis, the owner of South Bark Mutt Shop, and a newcomer, Keane Winters. Keane and Willa go way back to high school. She was penniless in foster care; he was a well-heeled sexy jock who stood her up. She remembers; he doesn’t. She has a frosty attitude; he doesn’t understand why she doesn’t like him. Neither wants to become attached or make a commitment. However, PITA, a rather ornery kitty, puts Keane squarely in a messy pickle and readers can thank that cat for being the happenstance responsible for Keane and Willa running into each other years later. I loved Keane! He’s a great guy. He had never thought that he wanted love in his life – but he fell hard for Willa before he even knew what hit him. I enjoyed the dynamics between Keane and Willa’s protective circle of friends. Willa is an awesome character. She’s a giver with a super-soft heart. But, that doesn’t keep her from holding a grudge for a long time as Keane ruefully discovers. I really liked that while Keane and Willa had issues to work through; the angst level was actually relatively low in this read. You should know that I’m not normally a cat person, but PITA stole my heart. Keane is tasked with serving as PITA’s care-taker at his Aunt’s request. But, keeping up with PITA proves to be quite challenging. PITA isn’t actually her real name, but you’re going to have to read the story to get the veritable scoop. Just know that PITA is an adorable diva – and you’re going to love her. Karen White aced the narration of this tale. There’s absolutely nothing that falls short with her performance. She delivered genuine-sounding female and male voices that remained consistent through-out making it very easy to differentiate between the characters. She has her cat meows down to a fine science and I found myself laughing more than once at how realistic the animals sounded. There’s no doubt that her rendition exponentially enhances the entertainment value of the story. Karen is one of my very favorite narrators. I know that when I pick up a Jill Shalvis book, that I’m in for a good time from start to finish. The Trouble With Mistletoe is a perfect holiday read. It has something for everyone: crisp storytelling, a sizzling romance, a healthy dose of humor, loads of Christmas cheer, and lots of sweet. Celebrating the holidays with Willa, Keane, PITA and their circle of friends adds an extra layer of fun and excitement! After inhaling these first two Heatbreaker Bay books, they feel like my friends too. I really, really, really want to live in Heartbreaker Bay and wish in that magical fountain! Willa and Keane went to high school together. Though he doesn't remember her at first she remembers him clearly and he was her main crush. Though Keane doesn't remember her he can't seem to get her off his mind now. Willa has a giant, soft heart especially for animals and wounded souls. She helps girls with troubled pasts by giving them jobs and helping them the best way she can. She's very likable though a bit hung up on the past. Keane is sexy, smart and has a giant heart as well, even though he denies he knows how to love and care for others.. He takes in his aunt's cat even though he can't stand it and cares for it while she's away. He also can't seem to help himself from giving others hands up as well. The two were meant for each other. Keane also has a determination to show Willa they were meant to be that will melt the most frozen of hearts if it's not from all the other heart warming moments. The story is enjoyable however a bit slower paced than the first story in the series. It was a bit tougher to get into but once in it cruised along nicely. If you enjoy second chance romances I would definitely check out The Trouble with Mistletoe.

The Trouble with Mistletoe by Jill Shalvis Heartbreaker Bay #2 ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ So happy to be back with this crew of friends! They are all awesome together. Willa is such a caring woman that had a wonderful way with animals. I loved her sassy wit and how she kept Keane on his toes. Keane was a strong lead and a great pairing for Willa. I really liked that he seemed to realize what he wanted before Willa did and how he was still pursuing, yet waiting for her at the same time. I got lots of laughs out of this book, the secondary characters always win me over and I really can't wait to read the upcoming books in this series!!!

I loved this book. It's adorable and a great holiday read. The second book in the series, this one can stand alone. At the core of this series is a close group of friends are always there for each other, no matter what. This book told Willa's story but all the gang was there to help her through the craziness that is her life and the struggle she has to accept love. Keane was the sexy jock in high school that Willa had a wild crush on. His life appeared to be totally put together...*cough* don't believe that though. Willa on the other hand came from foster care and literally had nothing. Yeah, he doesn't remember her. Nothing. He's got nothing. BUT once you understand him, you'll get why. But it does make for an interesting way for them to start off. She has some serious attitude going and he's majorly confused. Of course, a cat brings them together. And I do love PITA (not her real name and no I won't tell you why she's called that - gonna have to read it to find out). PITA is the typical grumpy cat (the kind I really dislike) that will bite you without warning and leave presents in your shoes. Poor Keane is stuck watching her for his Aunt. And poor PITA has her whole life turned upside down. It's adorable really. And I ended up loving the cat. ME? The dog lover. Yeah, PITA captured my heart. So did Keane. I fell hard for that boy. He's a great guy and he's falling for Willa. He never thought he would want love in his life. He grew up with parents that didn't really want him. They had had their children and he was a surprise they didn't much appreciate. And trouble. He was all trouble. Mostly, he was in need of attention. Now he doesn't think he needs anyones attention. Yeah, you know what happens there, don't you! Together these two are struggling to figure out how to be an adult after surviving their upbringing at the same time they're trying to not fall in love with each other. The struggle between them felt real. It wasn't a suddenly fixed thing, they went back and forth trying to figure things out. But I never felt the heavy angst and pain that a lot of romance books have. This one was just real. Two people trying to figure things out. The group of friends and holidays made this one extra fun. Between the wedding for the poodles, the Christmas decorations that blew up in Willa's shop and the friends meddling all the time, this book had a lot of laugh out loud moments. I looked forward to reading time and I didn't want to stop. Just a great read. Don't miss this one.

Willa and Keane are two exciting characters. Keane needs someone to watch his aunt's cat. After taking the cat to Willa' s shop he discovers how much he likes her. Two people who don't find love easy. Will they change or continue to fight it off. Great Christmas story. Enjoy the couple and her crazy friends.

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 Ms. Shalvis is one of my favorite authors and I always love picking up one of her stories. The Trouble with Mistletoe, book two in her new Heartbreaker Bay series, is another really good read. I love that Ms. Shalvis is able to create a world that makes me want to move to that town and create characters that make me wish were my group of friends. Willa and Keane’s story is so much fun. I really enjoyed reading their story. I also love Ms. Shalvis ability to make us fall in love with the secondary characters. I really can’t wait to see what is next in this series! Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Edelweiss & Avon in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.

It has been awhile since I have read a Jill Shalvis book but when I was offered the chance to read an ARC of The Trouble with Mistletoe I said of course! Her books are auto-reads for me. Just like all the others I have read, The Trouble with Mistletoe has well developed characters, snarky dialogue, great friends and some smoking hot love scenes. Keane and Willa are an interesting couple. I wasn’t sure I liked their awkward chemistry at first and at times it was a little bit slow. Once things got moving between Keane and Willa and we got to know each of them a little bit more I was all in, though. I wanted them to work so bad. The back and forth between who was in the relationship and who was pulling away was quite an adventure. The love scenes between Keane and Willa were fun. Shalvis knows how to make things light and fun but also incredibly romantic and passionate. It's one of the reasons I read her books! Sexy, fun, and flirty intimate scenes. Something else I have always loved about Jill Shalvis books are the supporting characters that become main characters in other books. This is still true in The Trouble with Mistletoe. Willa’s friends are so much fun to be around and I wish I could meet them in real life. I really liked Keane’s assistant Sass. Her name says it all. There is a lot going on in this book. Not only between Keane and Willa but their own personal growth. I was pulling for both of them to get to the place they needed to truly let go and trust each other. Shalvs writes great characters that you can't help but fall in love with. The Trouble with Mistletoe is a fun, light-hearted, sexy, contemporary romance story that will leave you with a joyful, happy smile.

This is the first book by Jill that I have read and I really liked it. This is the second book in this series but it can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read the first and wasn’t confused at all. Willa Davis owns a pet grooming place but they do more than groom your pets. Willa didn’t have to best childhood however instead of closing herself off she gives love freely to people and pets alike. Keane Winters didn’t have to best childhood either excerpt he did the opposite of Willa. He says he doesn’t do emotions or get attached. Willa recognizes him Keane from high school and incident she would rather forget, what makes it worse is Keane doesn’t recognize Willa. Keane needs a cat sitter bad and that’s how he winds up in Willa shop. He is sure that he has never met the gorgeous owner before but she seems to know him and be mad at him about something. She notices that Keane has changed and he has grown in to one sexy as hell man. Willa can’t keep denying the way Keane makes her feel. Keane isn’t going to give up till she tells him how she knows him. Once he does he can’t believe how they know each other. Keane finds himself wanting things he never thought he would want and Willa is the reason. Knowing that Keane doesn’t want anything permanent and doesn’t do emotions Willa accepts that they can only have a fling but that’s not what she is looking for. Both Willa and Keane grow emotionally in this book. Wil they have a chance at forever or will things get in the way? Willa and Keane have a bit of a back and forth in the book. They are both taken by surprise by their feelings for each other and have trouble voices how they feel, Willa more than Keane. She thought that she had her feelings under control and knows what she wants however when she gets it she realizes it scares her more than anything ever has. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading book one in this series as well as other books in this series that may come out in the future. I was given this book in return for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this book. I finished it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. I loved the light-heartedness of it. It's the perfect book if you're looking for a chuckle with a bit of drama. Willa is my hero. She's not afraid to be herself. I love how she takes care of the animals that come into her shop and the friends she's made over the years. And I love how those friends take care of Willa. I wasn't quite sure what to make of Keane in the beginning, but I ended up loving him also. He's a great guy that takes care of the people that depend on him. Overall, a great fun read. It left me with a smile on my face.

Really enjoyed the newest installment of the Heartbreaker Bay series! Willa and Keane have great chemistry from the moment they come in contact. Like in most romances, they both have some issues to work through before they find their HEA, but nothing too dramatic. There is plenty of humor as well, which most of the time involves either the pets in Willa’s shop or the cat Keane is pet sitting. I love the group of friends in this series and I’m really looking forward to Archer and Ella’s story! 4.5 stars I received an ARC for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review, all conclusions are my own.

Great book. I enjoyed reading it last night. The characters were well developed and I like how characters from past books played a big part in the book as her squad.

Jill Shalvis has once again given me and readers a beautiful love story filled with hilarious humor and break-your-heart romance. The Trouble with Mistletoe is book two in the Heartbreaker Bay companion series, and this is Willa's story and her chance to make a wish at the fountain of love. But when Keane Winters walks through the door of Willa's pet shop, she can't help but feel love is playing a cruel joke on her, again. Keane was Willa's first crush back in high school, and he was also her first heartbreak. Willa questions if she’d only taken her vow of “man-time-out” back in high school with Keane, it would have saved her a lot of future heartaches. Plus Keane stood her up on prom night and he doesn't even remember who Willa is. Oh, yeah. Love can be cruel. Willa Davis has had a hard life. Willa was one of the lost girls in the foster care system, until it spit her out at eighteen. Willa is twenty-seven now, and it's not hard to understand why she has a thick wall around herself and love is not a trust-worthy word in her vocabulary. So when Keane Winters, the gorgeous jock from her past who was the cause of the worst years of her high school life, walks into her pet store and asks Willa to save him from his sick aunt's cat-from-hades, Willa wants to tell him where he can stick it—but she can't turn her back on the cat. Willa might be having love trouble with two-legged creatures, but the four-legged ones still have her heart. And just maybe she’ll get a little bit even with drop-dead-gorgeous Keane. She might be on a Man-Time-Out, but she’s not on a One-Night-Stand-Out. Willa's second time around with Keane will have her discover who the real man is, seeing past the self-centered boy in high school. But will love be enough for Willa to trust? The Heartbreaker Bay series has so many amazing characters that I have come to love, and they have all become their own family. Willa and Keane's love story is a beautiful romance that had me rooting for these two lost souls to find love and their happily-ever-after in each other. The next couple to get their wish for love is Elle and Archer, and yes, I’ve been waiting for these stubborn two to get together. The Trouble with Mistletoe is another must read in Jill Shalvis Heartbreaker Bay series.

Another great visit back to Heartbreak Bay and the cast of characters that live in and around there. In The Trouble with Mistletoe, the author introduces two flawed, "damaged" people who are practically perfect for each other. I love the introduction where our heroine, Willa, realizes early on that the man who has no idea who she is is the one who broke her heart, without even knowing it, in high school. Thus begins a journey for each of them that winds its way through their neuroses, friendships, fears, and hopes, and lands with the two of them in love with each other. Each has fear of commitments, but for different reasons, and each has to let go some of their control, and be willing to take a risk, in order for them to find happiness. The Trouble with Mistletoe includes lots of laughs, many animal hijinks, friends looking out for friends, and friends challenging each other to look beyond the surface for the reality, and the chance for love, that lurks just below the surface. Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

First off I loved the cat Petunia. As a cat lover she was hands down my favorite character. This book just sucked me right in. It is everything I'm looking for in a book by Jill Shalvis. It has my number one favorite thing, humor. The characters are fantastic. They're very engaging and relatable. This book also has me ready for the holidays and as one of those crazy Christmas people two thumbs up for this book. I highly recommend this book. You won't be disappointed.
