The Unwilling Executive (Captured by Love Series #1) by Miranda P. Charles

He doesn't care about the wealth and opportunity his father offers.

Racing car mechanic Lucas Renner never expected his biological father to start acknowledging him as a son and only heir. He bet the old man has ulterior motives that has nothing to do with wanting to develop a relationship with him. He refuses to make contact with the man who has rejected him all his life... until his father's message is hand-delivered by a blushing beauty who stirred him in the right places.

She cares about keeping her job.

Jade Tully thanks her lucky stars for her new role as the personal assistant to a wealthy CEO. Heaven knows she needs it. But she doesn't anticipate getting entangled in the personal conflict between her eccentric boss and his extremely hunky son-a man who rattles her poise and melts her heart. She wants to help bring father and son together. But if she continues to do her boss's bidding, would she lose Lucas' trust and her chance to capture his heart?

The Unwilling Executive can be enjoyed as a stand-alone or as part of the Captured by Love series.

This book is for adults only. It contains hot sexual scenes.

As Always, Miranda is amazing!! Every book of hers is a standalone, yet each of them interweaves with the others.. You will read one book, the characters will, in one way or another, follow into the next, and, if you are wondering how someone, who was not a main character, is doing, sooner or later, you will find out, whether in another book or a possibly, a new series!! Yes, I love the start of this new series!! It is Lucas's turn!! We were introduced to him in Miranda's Time for Love series & now get to see.. Everyone needs to grow up sometime.. ;) I will definitely be watching for the next book!!

Is it worth it? It's a question I kept asking as I read about Jade and Lucas. Was being kept in the dark about her boss' relationship with Lucas worth all the back and forth for Jade? Was it worth wanting to get know Jade even though Lucas knew who her boss? Was acknowledging and pursing each other worth what might happen if it ever came down to choosing between her job and her heart? They were an adorable couple. A blacktop hardened man who'd been around the world and back, sampled the flavors of many women at home and abroad brought to a standstill by a woman who knew cars, loved flowers, and needed the money she earned from her executive job for her family. Polar opposites who needed each other for more than searing kisses and hot sex. They needed each other because they were it for each other. But the road to happy ever after isn't smooth by any means. Misunderstandings, interference, and stubbornness kept these two from achieving that sooner. There were tears and angry words, brush offs and more misunderstandings. Yet, in the end, they stood together because they were meant to be together. All that other stuff? Forgotten the minute they acknowledged their mistakes and declared their love for one another. Their happiness was apparent to their friends and family, and it even showed up in one place Lucas never expected it to: his relationship with his father. They reconciled and Lucas, who'd been looking for a place to belong if he ever left the Formula One world, stepped into the role his dad had been hoping he'd take as heir to his company. So was it worth it? Was all of that hardship and difficulty and irritation worth it? Yes. Everything they faced as a couple and as individuals was worth it because, in the end, they got what their hearts desired the most--happiness with and love for each other.(Received from Book Enthusiast Promotions for an honest review)

I really liked this story. It was funny, romantic, and sad times. Lucas has believed most of his life that his father doesn't want him and doesn't want anyone to find out that Lucas is his son. In the past few months though his father has begun to try and contact him. He has been refusing any contact with him that is until Jade comes into the picture. Jade his Thomas Bilton's new PA. There is just something about her and he just can't say no to him. That doesn't mean he feels any differently about his father. Jade is attracted to Lucas but now that she knows who he is, is there a chance they could have something more. Jade needs this job, but she would like to explore where things with Lucas could go if he is interested. Lucas tries to fight his attraction to Jade but then decides that he doesn't want to let the fact that she is his father's PA stop him from exploring things between he and Jade. Things don't always go smoothly between Jade and Lucas but they feel deeply for each other. Jade has some insecurities because of past in counters with men. She can't bring herself to fully give herself to them. She is worried that if things proceed with Lucas she will push him away with these insecurities. Lucas has a reputation and nickname. He finds himself wanting to shield Jade from finding out about that side of him. This book is a roller coaster of emotions, between things between Lucas and his dad changes and then Jade being in the middle. Things get difficult at times. There are misunderstanding, hurt feelings, this said that people don't mean. Will they be able to find each other and be happy? I am excited to read the next book in this series. I was given this book in return for an honest review.

Great Jade was asked to do a favor for her boss. Little she know the man she was meeting thought she alternative motives. Ruby's is her favorite florist, little did she know she was Lucas's mom. Great story.

It's started off ok, then was better, but the end was cringe worthy, corny, and terrible.

The dialogue was inane, characters weak, plot poor. So glad I did not waste money, unfortunately I won't ever get the time back.

Poorly written Struggled to finish. It was not very well written at all. The characters were supposed to be older 25 & 30 but acted and talked like high school kids. The passion was week s was the attraction between the two. The characters were immature. I will not continue with this series or author.

I received this free from the author for an honest review. Jade starts a new job as a personal assistant. Her first order is to take a letter to Lucas Renner and wait for his response. What she doesn't know is Lucas is her boss's son and he's been trying for months to get Lucas to talk to him. Lucas is a mechanic for FORMAL ONE and wants nothing to do with the man that wouldn't acknowledge him. They start to date, misunderstandings, sex, and forgiveness.

I am going to go on record saying that I absolutely loved The Unwilling Executive. Miranda Charles created two characters that on the surface seem very strong and well put together. Yet as you dig deeper and get further into the story you discover trust issues, lies, secrets and revelations. The range of emotions displayed by Lucas-mistrust, anger, self-doubt are beyond heartbreaking. This story is about more than a simple romance. It is about putting yourself on the line to establish a connection with that one person that understands you and not allowing anything to break it. Beautiful story. Received this book for an honest review.

Sexy and funny which is my favorite combination. I love the way Miranda Charles gives us a group of friends to enjoy over a series of books as each one finds their happiness while we get to interact with the entire cast of characters. Jade gets put into Lucas' orbit by her boss, Thomas Bilton, just to deliver a letter but she has to get him to read it. She has no idea why this is so important but Lucas leaves an impression on her and she is completely surprised to find out he's Ruby's son, her favorite florist. Lucas is shocked by his reaction to Jade but she works for the one man he can't stand, Thomas Bilton, the biological father that has never acknowledged him but now Thomas is trying to communicate with him. We get a great mystery behind the Ruby and Thomas' relationship or lack of one after Lucas was born. At the same time can Lucas open up his heart to Jade? Will he be able to trust her or is she just manipulating him for Thomas?

Lucas is not the guy you take home to your mother. He isn't even the guy you typically see a second time around. But for some reason, he gets stuck on Jade. But she is sent to him by his enemy. His father. Jade has no idea what the issue is, she is just the messenger. But she finds Lucas very handsome. This tale is so well thought out and put together that you feel like you know the newer characters in the story and love the old ones as well. Miranda does a grand job again of bringing us another story unlike anything else. You will not be disappointed and I can't wait to read about Rick, Lexie, and bigger brother, Brad.

The characters were OK but not deep and very predictable. The story was a nice easy read but I don't feel that I need to read more in this series. Almost like a teenager style book except for the sex.

I really liked the book and characters BUT the end was horrible. I didn't like how they kept shutting each other out because they were hurt. The ending made it seem like it was trying to drag it out.
