**Sending out big thanks to all the new readers! I love you guys.**

The tingling, mesmerizing heat blazed even hotter in my veins as I watched him stroll towards me. There was a blatant elegance in the careless way he moved, from the slight swing of his arms to the fluid action in his long legs. He leaned over me, his eyes cold and calculating, his cool breath swirled over my cheeks like a freezing winter mist.

"You're not afraid?"

I could not move. He was holding me prisoner without chains, without bars of any kind. He held me with the steady, penetrating focus of a hunter who will not be denied his prey. My fingers itched to touch him, to trail over his skin in slow gliding strokes. But he could not have me. No one could really have me.

Sarah Wood, after witnessing a battle between several powerful vampires on her land, is left stunned and feeling immensely guilty for having given permission for her friend, Alex, to be turned into a vampire rather than allowing him to die from his injuries. And though she tried hard to keep her sister, Katie from knowing about the whole vampire situation at their family's Inn in the wooded hills of southern Indiana, Katie became the victim of a kidnapping herself.

Sarah is left to face the return of her mother, who had abandoned the girls when they were children. She'll need every ounce of her bad attitude and quick temper to deal with the new surprises coming her way, including an illness that could very well leave the entire responsibility of the Inn and the vampires to fall onto the shoulders of her younger sister.

The paperback version of the book is 216 pages long. The manuscript in MS Word is over 35,000 words.

The Vampire's Curse is the 2nd book in the Undead in Brown County series. I really enjoyed the first installment, and was looking forward to reading this one. It was even better! The first book was more about Sarah coming to terms with the fact that vampires existed, and that she was a vampire warden. In this book, Sarah was able to explore relationships which brought some romance to the story. I have really enjoyed the love triangle. In the first book, I was leaning more toward Alex. In this book, I had trouble deciding for awhile. In the beginning of this book, there was some spark between Sarah and Michael that made me think that Michael was the guy to root for. Then, it went back to Alex. Then, to Michael again... I think love triangles are more interesting when there isn't a clear cut answer in who the girl should choose. I really liked how there were chapters told from Michael's point of view. It's always nice to know what the other person is thinking and feeling. He definitely grew on me in this book. Sarah dealt with a lot of emotions in this story, such as feeling inadequate, guilt, uncertainty... On the other side - Sarah experienced love and passion so it wasn't all bad. Some of the scenes were quite steamy actually. I'd have to say that I, I mean, Sarah enjoyed that quite a bit! There were some things going on in this book that caused me to be confused. I don't know if that was done intentionally and that things will be explained in the next installment, or if I was just slow at putting the pieces together. There was definitely some mystery involved in the story though, as well as some new faces. I was glued to the story the whole way through - it kept me interested. The ending left me hanging though, and I'm dying to read what happens next!

I enjoyed the characters, I was just upset to find it was $2.99 for an 87 page book. This wasnt a book, your really selling your book chapter by chapter. I wont spend the money on the rest.

I have never been so upset, not only was this so short, and jumped around unbelievably, but the ending is no ending! What were you tinking ending it soooooooo abruptly. I can never trust reading one of your books again because i will be afraid I will be left hanging on a 1000 ft. cliff again. so disappointed.

As with the first book, this one tends to drag on a bit in the beginning, but slowly builds throughout the book. By the end you're hanging on to the edge of your seat. My only complaint is that the book seems rushed in some areas, yet drawn out in others. I would love to have a book longer than 87 pages, but for what it's worth, the 87 pages are good; a lot of twists. I will definitely be buying the final book. Sucks I have to wait until January though!

Story was very entertaining. The characters are engaging and the writing is well paced. This is a great read for 87 pages. I can hardly wait for the final installment, The Vampire's Redemption, in January 2012. Danger, excitement, intrigue and a splash of romantic "interludes"....what more can a girl ask.

Why did author change the main character's name? She was Sarah Brightman in book one now she is Sarah Wood in book two?? Typo or stupidity? This is the kind of writing that frustrates me. I liked the initial story line enough to invest in the second book but am sorely disappointed in the lack of basic editing. I will never waste time or money on this author again.

The mistakes in this book are very annoying and how can you have two and a half kids???? When i first started this book i had to look at the book details again to make sure i actually got the right book because the main char.'s last name suddenly changes to Wood. In the first book her last name was Brightman. So yea i would give this book one star. The story line is good (what there is of it since this book is only 87 pages. What a rip off). Lucky for me i did not purchase this book, i borrowed it from a friend. My suggestion to anyone reading my review would be to borrow it if u can. 87 pages of things like two and a half kids and char. name changes and all the other crap isnt worth 3 bucks

Loved it. The only down fall is that it is only 87 pages long.

The story had the potential to be great, however there was no way to really become attached to any of the characters....the story was much too scattered and tried to combine too many storylines into one. Not a favorite of mine

My review: Since this was a second installment of the Undead in Brown County series, and I haven't read the first book, I was excited to see what the series is about. I have read reviews and blurb and books excerpts from the first book, so I had a approximate picture what the first book was about. I wanted to read and review The Vampire's Curse and it was all worth of the time spent. The Vampire's curse is novella of 128 pages, so I read it in one sitting. I enjoyed the writing style of S.J. Wright and also the characters. It was little difficult to me to come in to the story, because I knew beforehand, that is is the second book in the series. Regarding the plot: I loved the plot. It was something new and refreshing, that there is a vampire colony where vampires need to have a permission to get out of the area. This was something new and unexpected, so it made the plot even more interesting to me. Sarah has just found out, that the big part of her life has been a lie and that she is a vampire warden and her mother is actually a vampire and did not die in a car accident. This is basically how The Vampire's Curse starts and it is picking up actually from the place where the first book ended. Besides that, Sarah wants to protect her younger sister Katie from the vampire business. Sarah's life is even more complicated when she gets into a triangle relationship. She cares deeply about her friend Alex just to find out that he can be lethal to her and on the other hand she is getting more and more comfortable with the vampire Michael who is there for her when she needs him most. Sarah is quite confused about these two men in her life. I can already tell that the ending of the second book was a real cliff-hanger and I would have given a lot to continue with the next book. The plot was really good! Regarding the characters: I liked Sarah a lot, even though some of her actions dwelling between Alex and Michael were confusing to me. Sarah is a feisty and spunky young woman, who is not afraid to stand for herself and her sister Katie. Sarah's character as such kept me curious. I wanted and still want to find out who she will end up with. Michael was my favorite. Even though I really liked Alex in the beginning, then due to the twist in the plot I started to grow more on Michael. Generally: It was a good and enjoyable read. I loved the writing style and the plot a lot. I would recommend read the first book the series prior to this one, it would create less confusion in the beginning and it would be much easier to get into the plot. But even though I started with book two in the series, I really enjoyed it!

I was browsing through amazon and came across this book. I bought it not realizing it said book 2, so I did not read book one. I took a chance on the book even though the product preview seem more like an excerpt from the book. This was a good read for me. I was annoyed when I had to put down my book to do things because I wanted to read it straight through. Even though I didn't read book 1, I was able to have an idea what happen from book2. The author made sure to give brief descriptions on what took place previously. Basically, Sarah's family has been responsible for the vampires within the containment field on their property for the past 5 generations. This is to prevent other vampires or any other supernatural thing from getting in. With this generation the responsibility is placed on Sarah. Her mom is a vampire and she is trying to protect her sister, Katie, because of her ordeal in book 1. As for Michael and Alex, when you think it will go one way it goes another. The author surely kept me on my toes while reading. I'm so into Alex. The other characters definitely brought a good read to the story as well. I will be looking out for book 3. Not sure if I'll be reading book1 but I'm eagerly awaiting book3. Very good book, except that the main character's name was Sarah Brightman in the first book, and it's Sarah Wood in this one even though it's the same person. Please fix this.

Really great 2nd installment, not a big deal on the name change, mistakes happen however 87 pages long? Thats only a bit more of a sample, the lack of pages makes me hesitate to spend more on another.

Do not buy this book. It is too short for the money you pay and half of it doesnt really make since. I had to go back to try and figure out what was happening. I think i was missing pages or something because one moment a character was a good guy then suddenly he is an evil monster that they have to kill in less than three pages. What? Just dont do it because you will regret it
