The Virgin

Lady Elisabeth Hamilton-Baythes has a painful secret. At fifteen, she was abducted by highwaymen and sold to a brothel. But two days later, she was rescued by a young lord, a man she’s never forgotten. Now, she’s devoted herself to save other innocents from a similar fate.

The Viscount

Bryson Courtland, Viscount Rainsleigh, never breaks the rules. Well, once, but that was a long time ago. He’s finally escaped his unhappy past to become one of the wealthiest noblemen in Britain. The last thing he needs to complete his ideal life? A perfectly proper wife.

The Unraveling

When Bryson and Elisabeth meet, he sees only a flawless candidate for his future wife. But a distant memory calls to him every time he’s with her. Elisabeth knows she’s not the wife Bryson needs, and he is the only person who has the power to reveal her secret. But neither can resist the devastating pull of attraction, and as the truth comes to light, they must discover that an improper love is the truest of all.

I thought adding the Viscount losing his title was a bit too much and if a man was that hateful to me, I would have kicked him to the curb!!!!

Very smooth read. The heroine is vert likeable but I did get a little annoyed with the Viscount. He ended up likeable in the end but he really needed to just relax before reacting. I would recommend this book.

First I really liked the cover. It was what made me check out this new to me author. I am so glad that I did. I shall give away nothing of the plot. ( I just hate when a review gives away the whole story) (So why buy the book). I'll tell you why. They are great. I have read the first two books in this series and can't wait for the next. Coming out in December of 2016. Not soon enough. Very entertaining writer.

Really loved this book. It was so well written and so enjoyable with great descriptions I felt I was there. The characters were wonderful with so much emotion that I was caught up in the story. I am impressed with this first book I have read by this author that I had to preorder the next book in this series. I'm excited for it to ready.

Elizabeth has been through a rough go in the past, sold at a brothel by bandits after her parents were murdered, she's now 30 and considered on the shelf. The one man she's loved for 15 years finally notices her. She tries to push him away, but Bryson no matter how hard she tried won't have anyone but her. I haven't read a historical romance in a while and I'm overjoyed I chose this one. It was a story that was well written and had me entranced from the first page until I finished the story the next day. Elizabeth wants to do what she feels is the right thing and she's very likable even when she's trying to push Bryson away. Bryson was a bit aggravating but his love for Elizabeth was undeniable even when he felt he had to push her away. If you're looking for a heart pounding historical romance that has the perfect old world charm with enough steam that will keep your new world ereader steaming I highly recommend The Virgin and the Viscount.

I liked that both the heroine and hero are in their 30's and never been married as it is not very usual for historical romances. Although Elizabeth seems like the perfect wife for Bryson based on paper, and their attraction is mutual, at first her charity work and then a secret from their past changes their budding relationship into a business transaction. I was bit frustrated by Bryson's pursuit of perfection as he tried and failed to keep an emotional distance from Elizabeth. I understand his childhood drove him to be different from his parents, but it blinded him to the future he could have with Elizabeth by his side. I did enjoy seeing him lose control at times and the way he developed emotionally as the story progressed. I was thrown for a loop by a secret that was revealed and that changed their lives, but I loved what it does for Bryson. Very entertaining read, I would recommend to historical romance lovers. This was my first time reading Charis Michaels, but I am very curious to read about the first couple in this series as well Bryson's younger brother Beau. 4.5 stars I received an ARC via Edelweiss for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review, all conclusions are my own.

Unusual plotting and better-than-average grammar made this an entertaining read. I liked it better than the other book in this series and am looking forward to more.

The Virgin and the Viscount is an incredible, amazing Historical Romance. Elisabeth and Bryson's romance has everything I look for in a story from this era: witty flirting, a strong heroine, a hero that swoons me off my feet… But most of all, it's the depth of love that I feel between both characters. Elisabeth and Bryson's romance is heartfelt love. Theirs is the kind of beautiful romance that strengthens and grows the person inside as their love for each other deepens. Elisabeth and Bryson's romance grabbed ahold of my heart and made me fall in love right along with them. Elisabeth and Bryson both had damaging, traumatic childhoods that changed who they became as adults. Elisabeth suffered short-term abuse, which made her feisty and strong-willed, and made her want to help rescue girls like her and give them different choices in life than the brothel. Bryson's childhood abuse and the shame of his father’s drinking and debauchery had a more damaging effect on Bryson, causing him to be prideful, craving wealth and the respect and propriety that money brings. Bryson had acquired all of this, but now he needed a wife—a proper, perfect wife. Bryson wants Elisabeth, and let’s just say Bryson gets more than he asks for in Elisabeth, but she’s exactly what he needs in order to show him what's really important, and that's love. Bryson saved Elisabeth when she needed saving and Elisabeth saves Bryson when he needs to be saved. Bryson and Elisabeth's love story is a story of finding the love of your heart and the true meaning to happiness. I highly recommend The Virgin and the Viscount as a beautiful, awe-inspiring love story with a steamy romance. It’s a must read.

I was absolutely enchanted by this story. Once I dove it, it was hard to put it down, and when I did Have to put it down, it was on my mind to hurry back to finish. Elisabeth is a lady, who at the age of fifteen, had to watch her parents be murdered by highway robbers that then sold her to a brothel. She manages escape with the aide of another woman there and a young man there as a patron (not willingly though, his father forced him to go). Fast forward fifteen years and their paths cross, much to Elisabeth's dismay. Bryce is immediately taken with her, even though he doesn't remember the rescue. Bryce is a viscount who has tried to erase his father's sullying of the title, working quite diligently at regaining fortune and respectability. It just doesn't suit him that he is overcome by the lady Elisabeth. He decides immediately that she'll make a suitable wife, which is almost angering that he applies these bland labels to a woman who is anything but. There is so much to this story. The layers of the plot and characters suck you into their world. I thought there was a lot to love about both of them; several admirable qualities. They both do things that kind of upset me, but not in a bad way; in a way that kept the story intriguing wondering if they would right their wrongs. I just loved the passion between the two. I can't wait for more from this series. I received a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. Charis Michaels uses an act of bravery and kindness to tell the story of A union written in the stars. The Virgin and The Viscount is the first story that I have read by Ms. Michaels. It tells the story of Lady Elisabeth. As a child Elisabeth was kidnapped, sold and surprisingly rescued in an act that has haunted and shaped her into a furious warrior. She uses her station to protect the innocent from experiences like her own. Her ministrations bring her to the attention of Bryson Courtland, a Viscount searching for a woman who will make him the perfect wife. Bryson and Elisabeth have a connection that neither understand and an attraction that grows stronger with each passing day. Is that love strong enough to survive a surprising secret? I received an ARC of The Virgin and the Viscount in exchange for an honest review. The main reason I fell so hard for this novel is because for all the hardship each endured alone, as a couple they came full circle and ended up right where they were meant to be. SHE HAD ME AT HELLO!
