About the Author

USA Today bestselling author Christi Caldwell blames novelist Judith McNaught for luring her into the world of historical romance. When Christi was at the University of Connecticut, she began writing her own tales of love—ones where even the most perfect heroes and heroines had imperfections. She learned to enjoy torturing her couples before they earned their well-deserved happily ever afters.

The author of The Hellion in her Wicked Wallflowers series, Christi lives in Southern Connecticut, where she spends her time writing, chasing after her son, and taking care of her twin princesses-in-training. In a world where the only one you should trust is yourself, can you let the one who brings light to your world in to keep you safe? Connor Steele was the boy that escaped the devil of St. Giles. Ophelia Killoran was the no name girl that turned a blind eye on Connor, secretly envious of his escape. Connor Steele is now a top notch investigator, on the streets known at The Hunter. When a case of a missing child brings Connor to the Devils Den and in the path of a very grown and beautiful Ophelia. Neither of them knew just how much their lives were about to change. They begin to see each other for who they are and we learn just how truly evil The Devil of St. Giles was. The book started off with a bang then began to drag. But the last half of the book made up for all that slowed down. I can say that I’ve not cried this much in a book for a very long time. Ophelia truly broke my heart at times.

The Vixen by Christi Caldwell Wicked Wallflowers Series Book Two Connor O'Roarke's life had changed over the years. Now, he was a successful investigator. Another time in his life he'd been a street urchin. Living under another man's rules. He'd escaped...leaving others behind. Ophelia Killoran was the daughter of a very nasty man. One that she was glad had been murdered. Now, her family had everything they wanted as the owners of the Devil's Den club. Or so she thought. When her brother sends her out for a Season, she finds there is more to life. Ophelia carries a lot of hate with her...especially for the nobility. Whereas Connor has joined the world of nobs, somewhat. I love the characters in these books. The previous book; The Hellion, is Ophelia's younger sister's story. Looking forward to the next book already. ** Sexual content and language

I loved Ophelia and Connor's story!! One fateful day, many years ago, put their lives on very different paths. Conner lives the life of a nobleman while Ophelia lives in a gaming hell. Their paths cross again while both are helping the young child of the streets that remind them so much of themselves. Conner wants Ophelia's help on locating a missing child for a client, but she is reluctant to help him since he has become one of the hated nobility. At the same time, Ophelia's brother is determined to have her marry someone with a title, so she goes to live with her sister and has her coming out. While out at the society functions, she encounters Conner more and more and is finally convinced to help him out. But what they learn, will shock them both! I loved watching these two come together! The bantering between them had me laughing out loud!! Such a treat to indulge in! With so many lose ends that need to be tied up with this series, I can't wait to see what the next book holds for us!

Christi Caldwell is truly one of the greatest historical romance writers of our time! The Vixen is the 2nd book in the Wicked Wallflowers series, though it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend you read the first book in the series, The Hellion. Christi has such a wonderful way of writing that the characters just come alive and her descriptions are so vivid that you can help getting emotionally involved in this story. With that being said, get the tissues ready!! Ophelia Killoran’s story has hatred, misunderstandings, mistrust, guilt, pride, kindness, deception, saving children, a conflict in stations, an adopted father’s love, pickpockets, gambling hell, an arranged marriage, heartbreak, a plot to destroy, a setup, but can she find love in the boy she saved as a child, Connor Steele? You will just have to read this wonderful book to find out. Yes, I highly recommend you read The Vixen and any another Christi Caldwell Book… You won’t be disappointed! ***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.

Christi Caldwell continues to write books that touch my heart as no other author. When I read one of her books, I always say that it is her best yet. I then open the pages of her next one and wonder how she continues to captivate me from the first words, make me laugh, make me cry, but most of all connect so deeply with the characters. This book is no exception . I experienced all of these emotions and more. Ophelia is a character that will long be remembered. She has taken a personal situation that could have ruined her and made life much better for others. Connor has also changed his life from his early beginnings. Times and situations have changed both of them over the years. Christi proves that love, no matter how many hours, days and years between past meetings, can be powerful and forever. This book will remain with me for quite some time. .

I have read several of Christi Caldwell's books and I am always amazed that she is able to make each book and story-line unique. I have read other authors who write with a very similar style in their books, this author has the innate ability to keep her writing fresh and new even within the same series. This story is the second in the Wallflower series and though I anticipated the possibility of it being a bit dark based on the previous book, I was surprised about the depth of her characters. I loved Ophelia and Conner's, and worried about them and truly wanted to see them happy, they drew me in from the first page as young children and didn't let me go until the end. The descriptions of life, on the streets of London in the early 1800's made my heart ache for those children and as the story progressed you could feel every bit of pain and happiness the characters were feeling. The twists and turns actually hurt to read and on occasion brought tears to my eyes, but oh the joys were so worth the pain and suffering. I experienced highs and lows with the other characters in the book, and sad to say disappointment in some of them. It was wonderfully reading about a few of her past characters as well. Christi is amazing in how she is able to intertwine the lives of her characters with characters from her previous novels, it is almost like seeing a cousin you hadn't seen in a while, and thrilled knowing that they are living happy lives with the one they love. I highly recommend this book, the reader will not regret taking the time to read and enjoy The Vixen and will be left dreading the wait for the third Wallflower book to come out, Thank you Christi!

Stories by Christi Caldwell embody the historical romance genre. Filled with characters, that due to her descriptions, become part of your heart and engage your emotions through the story. Although you can read this book without having read the first one, I encourage you to do so. Opehia Killoran and her sisters have been raised from the streets and have seen and experienced more than anyone should. You see Ophelia has almost a secret life caring and protecting the helpless street children of St Giles. She was once one of them and knows exactly what they are going through to survive. If not for an an orphan boy who saved her, she would not be alive today. Connor Steele, was that boy and now years later, as an investigator serving the nobility, he comes into contact with Ophelia. Of course, fate has brought them together again but can Connor and Ophelia now come together with Connor being raised by a Lord after his days on the streets? There are so many emotions in this story that it will make you cry, but also feel the hope and love that comes out of the pages. Cannot wait for the next Wicked Wallflowers Book! Lori Dykes

Ophelia is a former street urchin and thief in London. The man who trained her and the other children was her father. Her older brother who operates a gambling hell, took her and her sisters and younger brother in to give them an education and a better life. When she sees Connor Steele, whom she had known when they were working the streets, she is surprised and suspicious. He is an investigator looking for the son of the Marquess of Maddock. The Marquess believes that his son was stolen when his house burned down killing his wife and unborn child. Ophelia haunts the streets looking for children she and her family can help which is why Conner believes she can help him find the missing child. An attraction between Ophelia and Conner has been there since they were children. . Due to lies and secrets, Ophelia is taken away and may never come back. It is a life and death situation for her. Can Ophelia be saved and at what cost? Great story of love overcoming great obstacles. I loved the background and the storyline. I received this book from Net Galley and Montlake Publishing for an honest review and no compensation otherwise.

I didn't think I'd like Ophelia, but it turns out I loved her! She wasn't as brash with everyone as I expected her to be, she was softened by her love and protection of children. Her brother, Broderick, as usual is still trying to force a connection to nobility. (Hoping we'll find out soon why!) He's seeking the protection for his family, and they're slowly getting it, just not in the ways he wants! Conner is the "One who got away". I loved his character but watching Ophelia grow and finally become comfortable with herself was the best part of the book. I will admit to sobbing at 2am as I was reading near the end, but the book and the ending were well worth it! I don't remember reading a book who's character changes and becomes an actual heroine like this one. Thank you for the Advanced Readers Copy, I don't think I could wait until it came out to read!

An enjoyable, fast moving story that engages the reader. Far-fetched with characters speaking in atrocious cockney and yet strangely compelling. Once I was into the story I couldn’t put it down until it was finished even though that was the early hours of the morning! I’ve not read the previous book in this series and assume that is why I was lost on how a family of pickpockets came to be educated, given elocution lessons, wear fine silks, run a gaming hell, be semi-accepted in the ton and yet be living in a dangerous area of London. I would therefore recommend reading book 1 before this. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Christi Caldwell delves into the darkest corners of life to create something wonderful. The Vixen is a tale of hope in the moments of despair. Ophelia is a woman of courage. She beat the odds with a little help from her phantom guardian angel. Once a girl without a home, she is now a protector of the underdog. Her heart guides her into uncharted territory when her long lost warrior reappears as the man that can orchestrate her undoing. Connor and Ophelia are romance at it's finest. Captivating, inspiring, unforgettable.
