The Revenge, the second book by M.S Matassa is a great continuation from the first novel which I loved. I was excited when I found out that this book had been written. I am always worried if a sequel as good as the first book, but I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through this one and I struggled to put it down. This book kept me on the edge and it met all my expectations for a sequel. This is a great book for those who love adventure, as the Carson family provide plenty of that here. The author did a great job with the characters creating suspense and plenty of excitement. The characters is rich and established following the treads from book 1. I agree with what others have stated you will view your dreams differently. Looking forward to book 3…

The second Well House book revisits the Carson family nearly two decades after Ben Carson entered a dark, supernatural world to save his wife and unborn child from the forces of evil. Ben may have triumphed over evil the first time around, but 17 years is long enough to wait for revenge. Evil is back, and has its sight's set on destroying Ben once and for all. I wouldn't say it was really that important to read the first instalment before The Well House 2 as you get recaps when necessary and you're guided really well through the plot and characters. Another really good fantasy novel from MS Matassa that explores the lengths an ordinary man will go through to protect his family, you will have to read the novel for yourself to find out if he is successful.

After reading Matassa’s first novel there was no way I was missing out on the next book one so I quickly moved on to read The Revenge. Like the first, this book had me captivated and in real suspense. Larger than life characters, some clever plot twists all put together with incredible imagination. Colour me impressed, and I can’t wait to see where his creative storytelling will take me next.

Reviewed by Sarah Stuart for Readers' Favorite The Well House II: The Revenge by MS Matassa is, as the title suggests, a sequel. However, it can be read as a standalone very easily due to the short synopsis at the start. It comprises a summing-up of Book 1, which ends intriguingly with “but that was about to change.” This is a reference to Ben Carson’s present peaceful life and the entrance of a frightened living object, the Orb, that signals trouble ahead. The battle between good and evil, where even Lucifer’s grip on one of his key followers is loosened by the power of love, is intense and fast-paced. The Carson extended family members are endearingly normal whilst the opposition, not all with a common purpose other than the triumph of evil, is uncompromisingly malevolent. Can Ben win against the menacing force of retribution or must he pay the ultimate price? MS Matassa has created a flawless fantasy in The Well House II: The Revenge. The reader is instantly immersed in the plot. Ben and Anne’s family life is so ordinary. Anne reassures Ben that his terrifying experiences are dreams, and takes him on vacation. An encounter with a raven, another “form” of evil, causes them to return home, where teenager Molly has fallen in love with Liam. The dog, Sherman, as well-drawn as the rest of the characters, senses that Liam isn’t “right.” Where does Thelma, mother of the keeper of the Orb, fit in? “Evil walked the earth, and it was close.” The threads of good and evil are intricately entwined in The Well House II: The Revenge, weaving a tapestry that creates an incredibly dramatic fantasy.
