The Widow Makers
Crazed prison escapee Erastus Kammers has kidnapped five young women from a Utah ranch and with the help of his ragtag gang of cutthroats, they are headed to the mountains to build a fantastical utopia. Set on their trail is Marshal Boone Crowe, who is reluctantly saddled with an inexperienced posse of young farm boys.
But former deputy Joe Wood is also on the trail of the outlaws, for secret reasons of his own. Haunted by past misdeeds, Joe Wood teams up with Phony Landers, a ne'er-do-well schoolteacher who has his own crimes to outrun.
The Wyoming high country becomes a landscape of cat and mouse as the outlaws and their captives head for an abandoned mining town in the mountains. But the young women know that in order to survive they must hang on until knight-errant Boone Crowe can track the killers to their lair. What Crowe finds at the end of the trail is something he never bargained for.

About the Author

Buck Edwards finds kinship with the windblown tumbleweeds of America's prairies and wide open spaces. A traveling man, Edwards, when not rooted between the pages of a good book, can be found tramping the historical sites across the country, from Fort Ticonderoga and Plimoth Plantation, to Gettysburg, Fort Sumter, and the Alamo.

His western writing-roots came from a youthful love for the books of Zane Grey, Owen Wister, Alan Lemay, and Conrad Richter. Raised around horses and cattle, Edwards enjoys studying the landscape surrounding his prairie home in eastern Washington, as well as the regions where his books take place-Wyoming, Nevada, Utah, and Montana.

When asked if Marshal Boone Crowe is his alter ego, Edwards refers them to writer Norman Mailer, who once explained that writers must be able to create characters that are stronger than they are, braver than they are, and perhaps even handsomer than they are. Edwards says that Marshal Boone Crowe is all of these things.

The Marshal Boone Crowe series consists of Dead Woman Creek; Showdown in the Bear Grass; Judgment at Rattlesnake Wash; Track of the Wolf; and The Widow Makers. A sixth installment to these westerns, Shoot-out at Lost River, is due out in 2016. They are all available through Amazon in paperback, or on Kindle, and also on Barnes and Noble's NOOK.
