Travis Allen, a junior black belt karate student, must move with his family from Longmont, Colorado to New York city. His father has accepted a promotion with his job. Travis gets off to a rocky start with his competition and does not do well. He meets a girl in his class at school who is a ballerina. Travis becomes interested in the ballet and wants to take lessons to help his karate. Travis must defend himself against several bullies as he works at his karate skills and then his interest in the ballet. Travis and Amy enter a local TV talent show but do not win. They are seen by a ballet school director who wants to cast them in a version of the Nutcracker. Follow Travis as he struggles to become a better karate student and success in his interest in the ballet

About the Author
Before starting his writing career, Tecumapese Morning Star, Tec to his friends, was an elementary school librarian and teacher. After leaving the education field, he worked in the fast-food industry, the hospitality industry, and the retail industry. Tec is a graduate of the Institute of Children’s Literature. Has a diploma for writing for Children from the Stratford Career Institute and has a diploma in freelance writing from the Penn Foster Distant Learning Center. He has one son and three grandchildren. Tec in his free time practices and teaches karate. He holds the rank of Soke, tenth-degree black belt. He also has a Doctor of Philosophy in Martial Arts and Sciences. He also holds third and fourth-degree ranks in two other styles. Tec also plays saxophone in a local community wind symphony and jazz ensembles. Tec and his family are of Native American descent and enrolled members of the Appalachian Shawnee Tribe.
