Overview

For fourteen years, alpha wolf Jason has watched his partially marked mate Cadence live her life without him. Circumstances force his hand and he must find a way to get her to uncover her buried memories of their past before someone else steps up to take her from him.

For as long as she can remember, hybrid wolf Cadence has loved Jason with every fiber of her being, but he’s consistently shoved her away until the love that’s there is bound tightly in anger and shame. No one can take his place in her heart, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t wolves willing to try.

Will Cadence be able to get through Jason’s icy demeanor to the heart of the boy she’s always loved? Can Jason undo the past so they will have a future together? This book contains red-hot werewolf loving, plenty of neck biting, and misuse of a kitchen counter. The Wolf’s Mate is a book for mature audiences only and contains sexually explicit content.

About the Author

A Midwesterner by birth, R.E. spent much of her childhood rewriting her favorite books to include herself as the main character. Later, she graduated on to writing her own books after "retiring" from her day job as a secretary to become a stay-at-home mom. When not playing with her kids, wrestling her dogs out the door, or cooking dinner for her family, you'll find her typing furiously and growling obscenities to the characters on the screen. Her best-selling series Wiccan-Were-Bear, The Necklace Chronicles, Hyena Heat, Wilde Creek, Were-Zoo, Arctic Shifters, Norlanian Brides, Saber Chronicles, and Ashland Pride are available now.

I really enjoyed reading about Jason and Cadence's love story. Reading about their younger years, the early marking, and the struggle they had to go through before they got together put a whole new twist into the ordinary werewolf story. Great read and can't wait for book 2!

I like Jason & Candance together I feel in love with them. I thought it was weired that Jason didn't just tell her why he stayed away from her. He didn't have to tell her what his father forbid the pack to say or reveal to her. I guess its in his nature not really the romantic type & not being able to express his feelings, typical alpha lol. I definitely like this book & would recommend to anyone mature enough to handle the sex scenes lol. I didn't think they were bad or graphic but that's just because I not a prude lol.

I read a lot of shifter stories and this is one of the better ones! Lots of love...not just lust and a good storyline. Good length too! Will buy her next book in this series for sure.

I have read all this authors books and LOVE them I have read each them about 10 times and still love them so it pains me to write this but this book was horrible. One of the biggest issues was what Cadence wore which was primarily leather short skirts, corsets, stocking, with boots. For a diner party she wore a slu*tty school girl get up with pig tails, I mean really there is a line between being sexy and not caring what people say and just flat out degrading, and this book leaped over that line and took off running. EVEN THOUGH THIS BOOK WAS HORRIBLE READ THE OTHERS FROM THIS AUTHOR THEY ARE ALL WONDERFUL. JUST NOT THIS ONE.

It's well-written, but I have some issues with the plot. It felt like she tied it all up at the end of chapter 13 and then opened it up again for an extra hundred pages. The last hundred pages, though not bad, weren't really necessary for the story. He got the girl. The chapters about the engagement, marriage, and considerable amounts of sex wasn't necessary. It was implied by him getting the girl and didn't need to be written. There was no real conflict at all in that part of the story and it was too long for an epilogue. What Iwould rather have seen was a longer final conflict scene with the villain. A longer chase, make him arrive too late so Chris had already raped her and marked her. Then you have the uncertainty of if the new mating and marking would override the first. Get rid of the gang-rape threat. It doesn't make much sense for an individual as possessive as a werewolf. Give her a chance to really dispair of ever seeing her mate again. Then have her do something clever to eventually escape. Or make her mate have to choose between her and his pack? I don't know. Just something more than what it was. More complexity and explanation of rhe villain's evil than simple, crazy jealousy.

This was a really good book, the author did a really good job showing how the relationship began when they were younger between Jason and Cadence. This book will have you intrigued from page one. A must read for werewolf lovers!!!!!!!

This book was a really good read, but the author has clearly never even googled Pigeon Fordge, TN. Their is no way to find an empty hotel there at qnytime in December unless reservations are made at least six months in advance. They have more tourests from Thanksgiving to Nrw Yearz than any orther time of the year, with more events going on as well. This is not the first time I've found serious issues with this author's real-world locations. Several of the books are set in places that, somehow, magically transported a few hundred miles for the story to work. Please if you are going to have real locations in your book, at least have to deciency to at the very least google them. If you can't do that, tue create a fictional town or something. Rant over now. The story line really is good and it's well written.

I am a huge were-book reader, and I loved this one. I really liked Butlers different view on the whole half human halfwere. I really wished it would have ended a little different, but maybe a novella would satisfy the lingering questions i still have. All in all i absolutley loved this and cant wait to start book 2. Hopefully nothing bad happens to Jason or Cadance in the next two books ( fingers crossed) :)

I like this author, and have read most of her books. This was slow moving and kept repeating why jason couldn't tell Cadence about the marking and it also kept repeating how Jason treated Cadence in the past it also took a long time for Jason and Cadence to finally come together as a couple.

Overall Rating:  4 Rockin Stars R.E. Butler’s, The Wolf's Mate Book 1: Jason and Cadence’s story is an unexpected find. It has a surprising storyline that is full of adventures just waiting to happen.  Plunging the reader into the world of wolf shifters where our hero and heroine are woven together by a unique bond that is so strong it survives years of neglect and at points, almost hate.  Jason and Cadence's happily ever is a rough and rugged road with lots of hazards and pitfalls for our couple. Cadence is a hybrid shifter with a really sassy mouth.  Born to a full blood shifter and a human father, her birth resulted after her mother was attacked and killed by another shifter.  Rugged sexy Jason recognizes at an early age that Cadence is his mate and he must protect her from his beast.  Their friendship originated when they were young.  It later turns volatile when Jason has to learn to control his beast.  During this time their friendship and love becomes tarnished.  Cadence feels the ultimate betrayal when Jason turns his back on her, leaving her without her friend and mate. But there is so much more to their story and without giving away any of the particulars, let me state that this is an excellent beginning to the series R.E. Butler has created.  The characters are believable and almost seem human.  They own businesses and homes within the community and interact with humans as if they are accepted and not feared.  The secondary characters complimented the storyline and add flavor to the mix.  This book had drama, deceit, twist and turns and at one point I wasn't sure if Jason even had a chance with his mate! Fantastic addition to anyone's library!

I love shifter novels and this one made me love it more. with 193 pages the story felt as if it was 300 pages. I've never really read a story where the plot is so good, normally tragic happens at the end and then something positive happens and it ends but this novel was totally different. just wonderful

Jason and Cadence start off the Wolf's Mate series and I loved it! They had some obstacles to overcome and then they had to learn about each other and reconnect even though they have known each other for most of their lives they had not seen each other for sometime. Jason was Cadences rescuer more than once and it was romantic after the awfulness of it. Everyone needs a knight in shining armor Cadence has hers give it a read. Another great story and series from R.E. Butler thanks again!!
