Linnea Olsen never thought she'd be back in Marietta for good. But when her parents ask for help with the family orchard and cider making business, she packs up her bags and heads to her hometown with her daughters in tow. Determined to settle in to the community, she plans a Christmas charity concert. She soon realizes she's in over her head, so when she hears that her singer-songwriter ex is back in town, she enlists his help.

Uninspired by life on the road, singer-songwriter Nat Hathaway has quietly returned to Marietta to pen his new album. But his high school girlfriend, Linnea, has other ideas–she's already volunteered him to co-organize a charity Christmas concert with her. As they spend more time together, Nat is drawn to the warmth and comfort that he sees in Linnea and her girls.

Linnea knows that this is only a holiday-romance because Nat will be back on the road soon and she needs stability for her girls. Still, as the holiday season begins to wind down, she hopes that a Christmas miracle will inspire Nat to put roots down in Marietta for good.

This was a wonderful holiday story that truly touched my heart. Going home can sometimes be hard but it also is sometimes exactly what you need. That's the case for Nat Hathaway and Linnea Olsen. They dated in high school but went their separate ways after graduation. Now he's a disillusioned songwriter/singer and she's a widowed mother of two young girls. She came back to help her family and start over, he came back to look for a little inspiration to finish writing songs for his new album/ When Linnea convinces Nat to help her with a Christmas charity concert the get to spend a lot of time together and discover that the old attractions are still there. Put this one on the holiday reading list, I highly recommend it.

This is the 2nd book in the Big Sky Hathaways series. It is Linnea & Nat's story. Linnea never thought she would move back to Marietta for good. Her parents asked her for help with the family orchard, so she packs up her bags, her 2 young daughters and heads back. Linnea is trying to settle into her old community and help her daughters adjust. She starts planning a Christmas charity concert the minute she gets back. She realizes quickly she has taken on more than she can handle. She is not one to ask for help, but when she hears that her ex is back in town, she accepts it. Nat is a singer-songwriter who has returned to Marietta to write songs for his new album. Life on the road is uninspiring, but his high school girlfriend quickly helps him become creative again. He gets volunteered to co-organize the concert with Linnea. As they work on the event, they spend quite a bit of time together. Nat is drawn to the family comfort that she and her girls bring. Is this to become a holiday only romance? Will she find the stability she needs for her girls? Will Linnea get a Christmas miracle, one that will have Nat put down roots for good? I really enjoyed getting to understand the ins and outs between Nat & Linnea. It was nice seeing them realize they still had the same feelings they had 10 years ago from high school. It was nice to see them re-kindle their friendship and something more.

The Christmas Carol by Jessica Gilmore, book two in the Big Sky Hathaway book series. This book is a great addition to the series. I enjoyed reading about past characters in the Marietta book series and meeting new ones. I especially enjoyed reading about Nat and Linnea and the connection between them. The development of this book was perfect for the storyline. I'm looking forward to reading future books in this series and more by this author.

Nat is in Marietta to spend time with his family. He's a singer-songwriter and is used to traveling. He's about to launch a new album, but is a bit fed up with the fake lifestyle that comes with the promotion. When he meets his high school sweetheart Linnea he's glad he's made the decision to take some time off. Linnea is a widow and has two daughters. She recently moved back to Marietta to look after her parents. Will she and her daughters be able to settle in her old hometown? Nat tries to spend as much time with Linnea and her daughters as possible. He isn't supposed to stay in Marietta though, so how much of a future would there be in dating the only woman he's ever loved? Is he just a holiday fling for Linnea or is there a chance they could be more? Will there be room in her busy schedule for someone who doesn't know if he'd ever be able to put down roots? Their Christmas Carol is an amazing romantic story. Linnea is struggling, she has to raise her daughters on her own, she has a lot of work to do trying to save the family business and she's organizing a huge concert. Nat is a good musician, so he's able to help her with the music. I loved how it brings them closer together. He's also great with Linnea's kids and his overall sweetness warmed my heart. Linnea doesn't easily open up, she's a perfectionist and I kept hoping she'd be able to let go every now and then. She and Nat are a perfect match and I couldn't wait to find out if they could overcome their differences. Marietta is a fantastic setting for a festive Christmas story. I enjoyed reading about the cozy little town and its inhabitants again. It's the perfect place for broken hearts to be mended. There's always some kind of heartwarming event going on and people are kind and generous. That's exactly what a good holiday story needs. Jessica Gilmore combines this with true love and wonderful friendship and the result is a terrific lighthearted and joyous story.
