Third Daughter (The Royals of Dharia, Book One) by Susan Kaye Quinn

Sneaking out of the palace wasn't one of Aniri's best ideas. But she's the Third Daughter of the Queen of Dharia--zero responsibilities and zero royal duties. She's just the backup daughter, in case her older sisters' arranged marriages--to take the crown or broker an alliance--don't quite work out. But once Aniri reaches her 18th birthday, she'll be truly free... and then she can marry the charming fencing instructor she meets for fevered kisses in the forest.

But then the impossible happens--a marriage proposal. From a barbarian prince in the north, no less. And if Aniri refuses, the threat of their new flying weapon might bring war.

So she agrees to the young prince's proposal, but only as a subterfuge to spy on him, find the weapon, and hopefully avoid both war and an arranged marriage to a man she doesn't love. But once she arrives in the sweeping mountains of the north, she discovers the prince has his own secrets... and saving her country may end up breaking her heart.

This Bollywood-style royal romance takes you to an alternate East Indian world filled with skyships, saber duels, and lots of royal intrigue.

THIRD DAUGHTER is the first book in the Royals of Dharia trilogy.

Kudos to the author on a well written and well told story. Very rich in detail and character descriptions. A good author transports the reader into a mental movie, and that is what happens when you read this book. DMB

A book unlike any other I have read. Mythical yet not dreamy or illogical. Romantic but not sappy. A truly fine piece of work. P.S. My current nooK registers over a thousand books that I've already I know my subject . ENJOY

Lots about love found and lost! Ending is somewhat predictable. Read it to find out how she handles many things!

I have read many many books, By many authors. I’m not a writer and I’m not an English major and I make mistakes when I write. That being said this is one of the first nook books I have read that was not only well written, but well edited. There’s nothing worse than getting wrapped in a story and discovering details that were changed or words that were missed spelled, or worse yet left out. This author is amazing and I plan to read more of her books. PS: any other Authors out there that want a good editor that doesn’t miss details contact me through Barnes and Noble. Thank you

Terrific series! I could not put them down. Creative, imaginative, and well-written. The youngest of three daughters, Aniri begins a journey to grow up, discover love, and find her place in the world. Doesn't read like a young adult novel. Kept me guessing throughout.

Good but at times just drags on and on. Sometimes i found myself wondering why i started just to get dragged into a few pages of action.

Enjoyed reading...while the character development was good there were no unusual or unexpected twists in the plot that I didn’t see coming, except the abandonment of the queens husband that, piqued my interest- fun reading for a couple lazy summer days. I will continue on in the series.

Steampunk, bollywood, adventure that sucks the reader in. The characters were not as fully developed as I like and the storyline is contrived at times. The world the story takes place in is so well made that the reader forgives anything lacking in the story. Unsure if I will continue series because I did not love any of the characters and dont really care about outcome of their storyline. I would have much rather have storyline continue from a minor character or new characters view point.
