Thunder, Blood, and Poppies

American author E.V. Wong's debut short story follows the interwoven lives of four characters in the lead up to a major attack during the First World War: the Corporal, the Sergeant, the Sergeant's Wife, and the Major. Through the eyes of each character, the story explores themes of death, hope, and longing, providing a snapshot into their thoughts as they prepare for the worst and come to terms with new realities.
