The strongest bonds are the ones unseen…

Businesswoman Skylar Ellison never intended to get tangled up with a sexy Wyoming cowboy—let alone conceive a baby with him in the parking lot of a honky-tonk. When it appears her baby daddy has taken off for greener pastures, Skylar pulls up her bootstraps and carries on alone.

Rancher Kade McKay is knocked for a loop when he returns home after a year on the range and finds out he’s the father of a three-month-old baby girl. When Skylar refuses to marry him, Kade grits his teeth, moves in and plays house by her rules to prove he’s a man in for the long haul.

Despite Skylar’s insistence they are to remain strictly parenting partners for baby Eliza, their old passions flare hot as a prairie fire, spurring Kade to demand total sexual surrender from the headstrong woman. Skylar willingly submits her body to the hot-blooded cowboy, but she’s hesitant to hand Kade the reins to her heart.

Can Kade convince Skylar the wicked sex games aren’t a temporary distraction? Or will he have to break out the ropes to show her he wants to be tied to her…forever?

I read this one first.. It is the 4th book. I am now in the process of reading the first ones and then the rest of the series and then read them again. For a series of books based around explicit and mind visually graphic sex, the stories are phanominal. There actually is a story and a blooming romance and you feel it. I say ridem Cowboy !!!!

Love this series and Kade was a breath of fresh air with his good guy qualities. You find yourself really getting into this character. Definately not ready to give up this series yet!

You should really read these seires in order, but if you don't, you can still read it. HOT, HOT, HOT. The whole way through. Can't wait to read the rest to see what happens with the rest of the family.

I loved this book...Kade is an amazing sweet man who is HOT HOT HOT. I love his loving sweetness to Eliza and Skylar but also his demand for those juicy naughty moments too. Great combination

This is the first one in the series that I have read. At first I was a little shocked by the author's "descriptive" language but didn't take long to get into it!I couldn't read it fast enough. Kade is an absolute dream!! I can't wait to read another one!

This one might be my favorite in the series so far. Kade is a dream come true the honorable one who does the right thing, and the loving patient one who doesn't give up. Skylar is also one of my favorite female characters, however sometimes I wanted to yell at her to just say yes, but she gets it together finally. The reuinon was a little daunting, trying to keep up with the names is a task, but it gets a little easier with each book. The love scenes are hot, the dialogue is great, and each character is well developed, and comes to life. After a while you just want to jump on your horse and ride out to the ranch and meet the Mckay's. The only thing I HATE about this series, is the wait for the next one. Can't wait for more.

"He loved women who looked like women and not a skeleton with skin." (Ch. 2) -- Dude. A hero who loves the BBW heroine's bangin' body? Fabulous. A hero who makes his point by disparaging the bodies of other women? Mean-spirited and unheroic.I tried this because of the positive reviews and the preview chapter looked interesting. I stopped reading before the end of chapter 3 because the interactions between the H/H made no sense. Kade is mad at Skyler for keeping the fact of her pregnancy from him. Skyler is mad at Kade because he basically tricked her into having sex with him, then bailed without giving her his contact information. After a year of not seeing each other, Kade hunts down Skyler, demands that she wake her just-asleep infant, then decides that he's moving in with her. Skyler pretty much says, "sure to all that, let's go have sex." I was expecting the characters to have sex a lot, but... what?At that point, I decided I was done with this book and with this author.

Tied Up, Tied Down is the story of small town businesswoman Skylar Ellison and sexy rancher Kade McKay. When things get off on the wrong foot for Kade and Skylar, Kade takes off for a while to clear his head. But when he returns, he finds that Skylar has had his baby. Skylar is not trying to keep Kade from baby Eliza, so when he steps up and wants to be a part of everything, Skylar is up for the help. However, when Kade decides that part of the duty is marrying her, she declines. This story is the journey that they take in falling in love with each other and trying to raise a baby.I really liked this book. The plot is something that people can probably relate to. There are many situations where women have babies without the father present, but then they attempt a relationship. I liked that the author did have some conflict in the story and that it wasn't all roses for Skylar and Kade. It gave the story a little more depth without making the reader mad at either of the characters. The trouble there at the end, although a little stereotypical, is probably more common than not. Overall, a great read, and James is becoming a favorite author of mine!

I am really loving this author and all the characters that she has in her books. Having lived with an honest to god cowboy, my father, I understand so much of what is going on. We lived on a ranch off and on through a good portion of my childhood. The haying, calving, branding, feeding, gardening, canning, and evrything else that goes into living in the middle of no where. Ms. James has pulled all of that into her books and held true to the life the hard working ranchers cherish. I think everyone needs to read these books so they have some idea of the life these people, that supply the meat, leather, and horses so many of us are fond of, lead on a daily basis.

I think "Tied Up, Tied Down" might just be my favorite in Lorelei James' Rough Riders series. Yes, there's bondage, but it's so lovingly done and Kade is so careful with Skylar's fears and sexuality that it almost makes me want to grab a lasso myself!!Skylar is ALWAYS in control. After losing both parents to cancer, she had to deal with an unstable sister who lived a self-destructive life via booze and drugs. At least here sister's clean now, and she and Skylar have both opened businesses in a small town in Wyoming and are doing well. She even had a boyfriend...well, she thought she did. Turned out the man she THOUGHT she was dating...was actually his twin. When she found out, she blew up and he blew outta town and she hasn't seen him since. But he did leave her a surprise...a baby!Kade McKay is glad to be back home after a year of living on a new, but isolated cattle camp. He's only been back a couple of days when he finds out about his daughter...and sets out to take care of HIS women. Skylar is resistant and afraid, but Kade IS a McKay after all, and he won't let anything stand in his way. He'll use every ounce of caring and love he has, including any sexual tricks he can think of, to tie Skylar and his child to him. This is one of the only Rough Riders' books that is solely M/F. It's also one of the softer and more touching because Kade doesn't fight his feelings and most of the book is about his thorough seduction of Skylar, both mentally and physically. The sex is still smokin', but the echoes of the love he feels for Skylar are always there. How can you not love that? There is, of course, ALOT of sex in this book and in 'comes' (heh heh) in a lot of varieties--oral, anal, vaginal, light BDSM, etc. So if graphic descriptions of the above sex acts aren't your thing, don't read the darn book! As for me? I loved it and it already sits on my keeper shelf. This is book four of the Rough Riders series and the next print release "Rough, Raw, and Ready" will be out in September 2009. Those who can't wait for the print versions, can zoom ahead of the 'print' groupies by buying the ebooks already available--at least two more than are available in print :(

This was so entertaining, sweet and sexy! Kane was awesome. Great addition to the series! Kane was awesome, I adored him. He was just so sweet and willing to do just about anything for those he cares for. Skylar I liked, she's was rather stubborn and had serious control issues so I didn't love her but I got her. It was really fun watching Kane and Skylar come together, their easy acceptance of the situation and all their ups and downs and hot sexy time. This was a fast paced, light, easy read that was just outright entertaining. I enjoy all the McCay and West family craziness and the awesome male bonding between the brothers and cousins. I have to say though, there are so many different characters to keep track of, it can get overwhelming and make me feel like I need a family tree so I know who is who. Sometimes all the connections feel like to much. There's a lot of cowboy speak and twangy inflections just like the other books, I roll with it as best as I can but sometimes it feels overdone. Honestly with these books, I go in wanting fun and sexy times, something that's not taxing and easy to enjoy. That's totally what I got. I'm also a sucker for a happily ever after and this story had an awesome one. Great read! Sweet and sexy and heartfelt all rolled into one. When I read these stories, I know exactly what I’m going to get – fun and heat!

For the actual plot of the story, this was way too long. It got boring waiting on something to change. Sex scenes were good but I am getting tired of the man always making the woman submissive. Why can't weread about a woman being equal o dominant in the sex category. Seems sexist to me.

I absolutely LOVE and trust everything Lorelei puts out. Her writing styles from her western/cowboy to her fighter/mma is remarkably different. However, amazing at the same time. It takes a brilliant writer to be so diverse in her styles.

Okay if you're following this series you know that Kade was dumped in Cowgirl Up and Ride by Skylar after going out with her a few month by pretending to be his twin brother Kane. Well this is his story and it is heart braking to find out that he didn't know he was a daddy and that his baby was a couple months old. In this story as much as Skylar wants to be with him she is afraid he's with her out of a sense of obligation. What she doesn't know is that his pretending to be his brother to be with her was in a way his way of wanting to be with her. As the story progress and she realizes this she is torn between wanting to believe her heart and wanting to believe her mind, which tells her to finish all between them. I think is sad when someone wants to be happy but there is always something impeding them. No matter if is their own self.

Rough Riders are a great series of books by Lorelei James. We get to meet Kade McKay, the rock of the McKay/West cousins, who keeps the secrets of all. He meets Skylar and hope to get the home & family he has always wanted, except he lets her believe he is his twin Kane. Fun to find out what happens. Thanks Lorelei & Good Writing
