Beth's life is in shambles. Recently released from jail after a car accident that took the life of a crossing guard, Beth finds herself in the middle of a bitter custody battle with her soon-to-be ex-husband, one that she can't possibly win given her husband's legal connections, and her own troubled past. Adding to the turmoil, her mother, who she hasn't seen or spoken to in years is now in the hospital after falling down the stairs.
