The Time Keeper by Kevin Cropp

Perhaps in the final days of our life we are granted the wisdom to see all that could have been, and all that should have been. The price is dear for such wisdom. Diagnosed with terminal cancer at the age of thirty eight, Linda Wails has only one dying wish—to make amends with her seventeen year old son Corey. For years they have struggled with one another, but the time is now or never to learn anew what it means to be a mother and what it takes to be a son. Such irony, that a woman should find her true beginning at the end of her life. Such justice, that a selfish young man should find within himself a pounding heart he never knew he had. Isn’t the deepest meaning found in the greatest tragedy? With all the drama that is life, it is often the quiet, peaceful dreams that are the best remembered. The Time Keeper is the story of such a dream.

This book was a well played out book. The characterization was up to par. Also the story was very sad. I wondered what gave the author thos inspirartion to make this book. I found out that more than 90% of this book is based on the authors life. WOW..... I mean WOW. That must have been hard for him at that oment in his life.

I meet the author at a local festival in Swansboro, N.C. and I am sorry to say I had never heard of the book or him. I wish I knew then what I know now after reading this beautiful story. Kevin wrote in the front jacket that he hoped I enjoyed his story. Well, I couldn't put it down and it touched my heart like no other book has in a very long time. Let it be a lesson to all of us to not let things go unfinished. Not all of us get the chance to make things right but when we do, it makes the life afterwards worthwhile.

What a book! Seldom does a book grab me so hard and demand to be read. The title, 'Time Keeper' is so right, so apropos. My own losses, short comings seemed to ride with Cory as he unfolded so eloquently the emotions, the consequences life brought in this short span of time. I loved the book. I will look for Kevin E. Cropp's next book and the one after that. Good to have so capable a writer with roots in our home town.

I was amazed when I read The Time Keeper. It is an extremely deep book. After the first couple of chapters, the book was hard to put down. I am an alcoholic I guess over books. Am constantly reading, because it is an escape. Kevin Cropp is a very talented writer and he should keep it up. There are not many writers of his caliber out there in the writing field. Keep up the good work Kevin Cropp. I look forward to reading more of his books in the future.

This story beautifully depicts the love & affection of a teenage boy towards his sick mother. Every character was presented so well that I could relate to them very quickly. The narration of the author about the mother's suffering and the boy's helplessness brought a tear in my eye. I am eagerly looking forward to the next book from the author.

By reading this book I was reminded of how beautiful, and fragile, relationships can be. As I reached the last page, I felt as if I had known and loved these characters all of my life. I am hoping for a sequel and am looking forward to reading future works by this talented author.

I thoroughly enjoyed 'The Time Keeper'. I found it particularly relavent because I had a high school friend whose mother died of cancer our senior year.

I have to say that even though this book was entirely different than what I would normally read, once I started I could hardly lay it down. I am amazed at what a good read this really was . Congratulations on Copper Press Publishing and I am looking forward to seeing more good things from these folks.

I must say I truly enjoyed your book. I finished your book in 3 days and I can't wait for the sequel. Your book actually made me cry as I thought of my own mother and the relationship we have. I am a grown man who was crying on his front porch! Thank you for a great read.

The Time Keeper was written for the soul to read. Through Cropp's intimate relationship with words he accompanies the reader on a journey that from beginning to end reveals the honesty of human emotion in both its dimmest and brightest light. His story spoke to me on a very personal level. Although our experiences differed in circumstance, we both remain among the survivors of love and life surrendered through death.

I couldn't put this book down. It made me laugh and made me cry, and I was sorry to see it end. What a touching story of a mother and a son's journey to understand their relationship and come to terms with a terminal illness.
