Being the librarian in an elementary school it is rare that I find a book that tickles the funny bone of an entire school population. Traction Man did, it was an unconditional hit. K-3 just plain loved the humor. Fourth and fifth graders thought it was much like a comic book in the presentation but hung onto every word of the read aloud. In the end the author dedicates the book to her older brother. This information provoked a lively discussion about the antics of our siblings. I am sure many notes were jotted in writing journals this week! I've gotten emails from parents and already have the students asking for it to be read aloud again. I am going to buy five more copies for the library, I cannot keep it on the shelf.

My 4-year old and 6-year old LOVE Traction Man and his adventures. Great way to remind kids that you don't need all kinds of store-bought accessories or follow a story-line from a tv show to really have a great time with your toys.

Mini Grey's runaway hit Traction Man is the hilarious tale of a young boy's imaginative adventures with his new toy "Traction Man." The graphic novel layout with grid-paper captions make reading easy for adults. At the same time, they do not disturb a child's experience with the visually rich, extremely funny illustrations. New vocabulary adds to the book's wit, as in: "Lost Wreck of the Sieve," "the clutches of Doctor Sock," and "'We'll hoist you to safety!'". Grey's multi-award-winning picture book is sure to be a hit with imaginative young boys everywhere, especially those between the ages of 4-8. A must-have for any library.

Funny and clearly understand the world of imagination and kid play. I remember doing many similar adventures myself as a kid. The artwork is great; the images are so full of tiny details that many pages could be used as I-spy material.

Traction Man is so enjoyable as a read aloud. It's one of the funnest books for storytime that I have ever done. In addition to the enjoyable Traction Man voice you get to do, the illustrations are grodily detailed and charming. I especially enjoyed the sink scene in which Traction Man gets saved by his new pal, Scrubbing Brush! This story is very enjoyable for kids and adults.

I really liked this book. It reminded me of my brother always making up stories for his action figures and setting up scenes(and no it's not the same as playing barbies he says!)

LOVED this. It is more episodic than full narrative, but one could make an argument that the climax is when Traction Man is faced with the one challenge that he may not be able to overcome¿the all-in-one knitted green romper suit and matching bonnet (made by Granny). With the help of his faithful pet Scrubbing Brush, Traction Man finally deals with the suit and we know he will go on to save another day. Both the text and art are incredibly funny and clever and the whole book is imaginative and just an overall treat to read.

I love "Traction Man!" Great book for a kid (buy this for Christmas!), not so great for a read aloud. The illustrations are terrific and deserve closer scrutiny.
