Tree Spirits

Teachers are calling it 'The Antidote to Screen Time' - Winner of the CLARA J JOHNS Most Creative Book Literary Award - TREE SPIRITS is a whimsical interactive picture book that helps spark a child's imagination, developing their creative talents and emotional understanding of our world.

"A fun and fantastic experience for parents with their children." --Joi's Review - "Helps kids see and visualize the world in nonobvious ways and introduces them early to an understanding of their own inner spirit and feelings: key skills for early childhood development" --Arroyo Monthly

"What do YOU see when you look up at this tree?"

The book begins with a question, inviting children to use their imagination as they look at a close-up photograph of each tree. Turning the page reveals an illustrated overlay of the charming animal spirit "hiding" within the pattern of the bark of each tree. It offers the opportunity to meet 10 animal spirits.

Written in rhyme, TREE SPIRITS also offers an opportunity to explore how each spirit is feeling, encouraging children to think about their own feelings. Each "spirit animal character" introduces a different emotion helping children to understand their own inner spirit and feelings.

Featuring additional activities, there are 5 additional photographs of trees at the end for the children to continue to draw the spirits they see and write their own stories. The book ends by encouraging children to go out, look at the trees in their own neighborhoods, and keep asking, "What do I see?"

With the full-color photographs, each paired with charmingly illustrated overlays, and stiff paperback binding, TREE SPIRITS high-value format makes it highly giftable.

About the Author

Louise Wannier is a Serial Entrepreneur, Artist and now Author. This is her first Interactive Childrens' Picture Book: Tree Spirits, the first in an envisioned series to help stimulate the imagination and help develop emotional intelligence. As an artist, Louise is fascinated by observing patterns, noticing closely how light interacts with both nature and our intense, dynamic urban landscapes. She attempts to capture and present visually the energy and spirit she observes and feels in our complex world. She has become captivated by the presence of abstract patterns within both natural and manmade objects and structures and noticing that some can be revisited whilst others are only present in the moment the picture was taken. Louise loves the discovery too of how the camera shifts our focus and emphasis from what our eyes natively see. She currently resides in Pasadena, CA.

April Tatiana Jackson has worn many creative hats throughout her multifaceted freelance career, but being a children's book illustrator has by far been the most rewarding. April is a Los Angeles native who grew up with a love for the arts and creative expression. She received her degree in communications from the beautiful University of California, Santa Barbara, but she's happy to be settled back in Los Angeles where she currently resides with her husband and son, River.
