Trial by Fire by Cecelia Davis

BOOK TWO: Trial by Fire

In the sequel, Trial by Fire, additional missions from heaven are offered as Johnny and Jeremy grow up and have families of their own. Will they be accepted and completed?

In one episode, Jeremy has become an investigator for nursing homes in the state of Kansas. He and his family go to Colorado to visit with Johnny and his family. Carl Benson is also visiting. Jeremy thinks this is a perfect time to ask the retired undercover police officer for a favor.

He wants Carl to go undercover to a particular nursing home that is under investigation. An argument erupts and Carl walks out. After praying about it, Carl agrees to go undercover as Jeremy’s father-in-law. This is all a part of Heaven’s Mission for Carl and Jeremy.

However, after Carl has a stroke and his arm is broken due to negligence, Jeremy doesn’t want Carl to go back to the nursing home. Carl has been told that if he does not go back, their part in Heaven’s Mission will have failed. Jeremy has previously made the statement that people fail the Lord all the time, but to see Heaven’s Mission fail in your own life is almost more than one can bear.

After thinking about it, Jeremy has to make a decision. Does he take Carl back and risk further injury to him or does he play it safe and keep him where he can care for him?

Johnny’s young daughter, Jenny turns on the tv to watch cartoons. An announcement comes on about a fire engulfing a nursing home brings Johnny and his wife into the living room instead. When the name of the nursing home comes into view, Johnny calls his brother. Moments later, Johnny and his family watch in horror as Jeremy goes into the burning building but doesn’t come out before the building collapses. He soon realizes he will need to go and make arrangements for his brother’s body.

Wow I can not wait to read more of this series. This is the first book. Howard is a firemen/paramedic; gorgeous and has no problem with the ladies. He is everything a women would want in a man, but comes with a sorted past. He never allows himself to get to close or fall in love until he meets Katherine McKenna. On a call to a routine fire he finds Katherine at a house that is on fire trying to put it out. She is injured and he comes to her rescue. "love at first site" for both of them. They start a relationship, but a string of murders happening around fires that are arson entangle them both into the trap of a serial killer. The book is explosive with action, filled with romance. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read on about the other firemen of Station 5.

This was my first book of Jo Davis and it was a scorcher. This book had action, suspense, drama, and romance everything I love in a good book. One book and I am hooked on the series. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

This book is for you if you are interested in Fire fighters! I have enjoyed mulitple romance novels with the main character being a fire fighter. This story I thought was mid-field compared to the others I have read. I enjoy a good story, and know that is what it is. It gives you two types of stories to read in one, one romantic, and one about murders. It has characters that are not perfect, but still keep your interest in the story. I will leave some for your imagination, and enjoy the story itself. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Happy reading!

This is the 1st Book in the series: FireFighters Of Station Five By Jo Davis. Jo Davis creates magic with the start of this one.... Lt. Howard "Six-Pack" Paxton, is a Fire Fighter at Fire Station Five. He is adopted and has been having dreams of his abuse from his father as a child. Howard loves his job and believes he will never fall in love and have the "happily ever after". Katherine "Kat" McKenna, is a 1st grade teacher and happens to be house sitting for her parents neighbors when a fire breaks out inside. Who shows up but sexy Howard and so she proceeds to melt into his arms at the scene of the blaze and the attraction between the two is immediate. As the two fall into a sexual haze, a sadistic arsonist out for revenge becomes the match to the flame that just might keep the two from finding their happily ever after. This start of this series is well written with enough suspense to keep you glued to the pages, the characters you will fall in love with and a plot that sizzles with action and sex.

## I'm so mad I wasted my money. First of all, Howard is not a good name for a hero (although let's face it, he's not really a hero). Once a cheater, always a cheater! Note to authors everywhere: a cheater doesn't make a good hero. Duh! After that I could only depise him. Skip this one.

I like this book . Yes there were some editing problem that I could get pass. I did find the heroine a little annoying. She kept calling Howard big guy, handsome or lieutenant. It sounded a little corny. Maybe the author should have given him a better name. Maybe Kat didn't like the name Howard either.

The biggest problem I had with this book was how quickly the relationship happens and how fast they are to say I love you. I understand love at first sight, but it was almost to the point of not being believable. Overall i did like the story, I just had to over look those few things.

I loved this book. It had intrigue, hot guy and girl action and addressed real issues. This is the first book I've read by this author but won't be the last if her writing style says the same. I can't wait to read the next in the series. I'm looking forward to more books by this author series or not!
